gta4lyfe
I havn't seen it mentioned anywhere but it seems that GTA4 is using DMM or something similar. For those of you who do not no what DMM is, its a physics engine that causes objects to act as they would IRL. Eg. wood will splinter properly around the area it is hit, and metal will dent based on the force, size, and location of the area it is it - such as the police car in trailer 3: I know it uses the euphoria engine which is great, i just want 2 know for sure if it has DMM also. If any1 has any info it would be nice if they could post it.
ceedot
I really hope so. When I saw that car crash, I was happy, as the car crumpled into what it hit.
Zildjian
Although this crash looks great, one thing I noticed is that the cops in the car have no physical reaction to it. I was hoping they would be at least thrown forward a little bit.
gta4lyfe
ya. the bullet holes look realistic too. in the metal of cars, and windshields and such. it definately looks like dmm.
E-lasto
Take a look at 1:32, and you can see that the car has the damage before hand. I don't think DMM will be used in GTA4, though nice, unlikely. Also, the truck takes no damage from the car.
Oblivionz
Isn't DMM reserved to the video game company that makes the Star Wars game or whatever until 2008?

gta4lyfe
i know dmm is featured in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, i just assumed it could also be in GTA 4 similar to how euphoria is used in both games. If it doesn't have DMM hopefully it has something similar to replace it.

edisoncarter
I still really really hope cars can get crumpled in any shape based on the impact, not just a limited set of predefined results. The malleability of objects would add immensely to the feeling of realism. There's endless possibilities you'd have to try out. Also I hope it can still drive if it's not too wrecked. It wouldn't be very much fun if as soon as you "customize" the shape of your car it gets locked down and won't drive.
