Primer43
I can not get CS Source to Launch. I can get Half Life 2 to Launch. I get this. Any help is appreciated.
Fozzy Fozborne
Happened to me a few times, a reinstall (delete local files, redownload) of CS always fixes it. It is a lengthy download on slower connections, though. So you might want to get a second opinion/option before doing it that way.
Primer43
I tried it, and I'm trying it again, didn't work.

Picolini
Don't you love those vague error messages? "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly." Oh really? Wow, thanks. Dunno what to tell you... last night there was a Windows update and my computer started acting really goofy. I installed it and restarted my computer and it worked fine. Doubt that's the case here though, something was probably just running poorly on my computer.
Saget
I can. The image in the first post? Yeah. Even when I right click the "user posted image" message and go to "show image" it tries to load the page then gives an error. |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
Ring_of_Fire
I can not get CS Source to Launch. I can get Half Life 2 to Launch. I get this. Any help is appreciated. How it's possible that you could manage to get Half Life 2 to launch, but yet you got an HL2.EXE error? Anyway: 1. Uninstall Half Life 2 from "Programs & Features" 2. Delete C:\Program Files\[Publisher or Developer]\Half Life 2 3. Empty Recycle Bin 4. Reinstall HL2 5. Download and install the latest patch. 6. Set compatibility to "Windows 98/Me" 7. Apply & OK 8. Launch game Edited December 7, 2007 by Ring_of_Fire
Rocketkiller
I'm guessing it's a Steam game, in which case CSS would use HL2.exe. Steam has a function that lets you check the integrity of the .GCF files(the main archives of the games) I think you right-click on the game in the list, go to options or something and there should be a button or something that says "check file integrity" or something like that. I haven't done this in over a year so my memory's really vague.
Primer43
How it's possible that you could manage to get Half Life 2 to launch, but yet you got an HL2.EXE error? I don't know, that's why I'm asking here. Compatibility mode doesn't work, gives me an error message. I did check the integrity of the files. Didn't work. Maybe it has to do with Direct X 10? or the video card in general?
Ring_of_Fire
OK, let me download this game and see if it works on my Vista... Want me to download the demo or the full version? Wouldn't matter? Maybe it has to do with Direct X 10? or the video card in general? Maybe you're just doing something wrong. If I get it to work, then it is not Vista's fault. I will be posting a screenshot of Half Life 2 running on Vista, and then giving some possible solutions. Saget
Question: did you look for a solution in other places, like the official FAQ guide, the official CSS forums and such? |DeviantArt|Flickr|YouTube|#amf|
[email protected]
Try to launch CSS with the following command: -dxlevel

And I can get HL2 to run, I've been playing it, I can not get CS Source to run. I did ask in other places, no one knows. I also tried the -dxlevel 81 sh*t, didn't work. beavis
Nope, just downloaded off of Steam I play cs 1.6 on vista, I don't know why source doesn't work on your machine. Try making another User on your machine and check if it works then.
Primer43
I play 1.6 on Vista also. I just can't believe no one else has had this issue. I will try on another user name.
