What will you do the hours before?

What will you do the day/hours before you get your hands on the game?

 

Personally i probably can`t sleep the night before the release day. So i will first play some hours with previous Gta games as Gta 3 and Gta SA so i can really feel how much better Gta 4 is. And when its only 2-3 hours before the stores open i will see an action movie with some carchasing and shooting.... think i will see the movie Heat:)

 

That should make the butterflyes in my stomach fly around pretty much:)

Well, I'm going to put money on there being a midnight release at my local EB Games store, so that's where I'll be for a big part of the night, really helps the issue of having trouble with sleep.

Def gonna ditch school + work, both days (night b4 and day of). I'll first wakeup and might play some GTA2 online, then I'll move it over to the Xbox for some classic GTAIII and Vice City. Around lunch I'll probably switch over to teh PS2 for some SA madness, and I'll pack a dinner and head to gamestop. hoping to get there pretty early, Ill def bring my PSP again (THIS IS A LIFESAVER! helped when i waited for teh Wii!!). But ya, i cant wait. i get those butterflies to

Well, assuming the release is on a Monday as SA was, I'm going to go pickup my preorder before the main release on that Sunday at my local mall (University Mall in Tampa for any Florida residents), then, I'm going to go home, kiss the case, beg and plead with my mother to miss the next day (which won't happen seeing as I have 6 AP classes this year) and get ingrained into the GTA universe once again after the disappointment that was SA.

lol I'll never forget the SA launch. Walked in, gave GameStop my receipt, grabbed Taco bell, home in less than 20 minutes. I think I played until 4am that day, tried to skip hockey practice but couldnt, came home and played nonstop the rest of the week

I'm still amazed that I waited in that long ass line for SA. In retrospect, the game didn't meet the lofty expectations I had for it (and trust me, after reading all of the early info and whatnot about ragdoll and in-depth home invasions, those expectations were indeed quite lofty) and waiting in a line with no seating for a good few hours was just silly. I

 

'm sure that this wont be the case with GTAIV as we have had nowhere near the info released that was with SA (I think R* realized the err of their ways with the amount of info they divulged preceding the release of SA) and the anticipation is that much greater due to the delay (imagine actually being halfway through the game at this point in time if everything had worked as intended).

 

However, due to the delay, R* will undoubtedly have to deliver the decade defining game that people expect it to be, as the length of this delay (and the small possibility of it being delayed even further) will result in the scrutiny of this game being higher than any other in this industry.

I'll wake up, go to school, come home, do my homework, give my dad a call to remind him to pick it up from the Gamestop across the street from his workplace (i'm going to ask him to preorder it there when the release date comes out), go on the computer and go on this forum , play some xbox live and around 6:15 or so i should get GTA4

and i will play nonstop till 11:00 P.M.

i'm just hoping theres not gonna be too many doorbusters. i cant stand people showing up and trying to line jump w/o a reserve. I'm #18 at my local G/S and I reserved it in May.

ha I'll never be able to call SA a disappointment because I bought it for $20 when it became a "platinum hit" or whatever.

 

As for this game, it really depends on the day of the week it's released. Seeing as CDs and other entertainment products are typically released on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I think it's safe to say I would take Friday off if it were the latter.

I think R* is smart enough to put the actual release on a day after where a large number of kids would wait for a late/midnight release. I doubt many parents would like it if their kids were begging to go to the male at 11 pm on a Tuesday night, but would be more apt to let them go on say a Friday or Saturday, or even a Sunday like SA's pre-release was in the US (at least in Florida)

i never even thought of that! personally it doesnt make a huge difference because ive seen 5 year olds waiting with their parents for video games/consoles coming out. im trying to get a bit of an 'entourage' so i have some friends to chill with to pass the time. everybody is always real cool though, its nice to reminsce about our favorite video games with all different ppl

i reserved san andreas and had it the day it came out, but when i went to pick it up that morning after my class the store was dead and they had tons of them unclaimed so i kinda felt like there was no real need to reserve... still i don't think i'll take my chances with this, i've waited to long.

There is just something unique about waiting in a long line that seems to never end for a game you've been waiting on for nearly 4 years. However, I won't have that experience with friends, seeing as my stepfather works in the mall so he can do all of the waiting; also, I would hate being around people I know in a line for a long period of time; they annoy me enough when we're just having fun, but lord knows how pissed I would be if I had to be around them in a long-ass line.

Well I'll try and go to sleep early, so the day can come already! If its out in march then I have no school cuz of my 2 month break (March-April), if its out by Feb then theres a 50/50 chance I might ditch, (If its out by the end of Feb, then I'll go, thats my last week of school, so I can miss it, and I usally do miss it anyways. )

thats y i think Feb 19 day before the 18th is presidents day no work or school in here NJ, an gamestop does get games day before so feb 18 would b grt time 2 do it

There's no chance I'll get the game in stores on the release date.

 

I guess I'll pre-order it on X'Mas and on the day itself I'll get the game on my doorstep

Day and Hours before it, I'll play GTAIII/VC/SA, play LCS/VCS when I'm outside and move on to GTA 2/GTA/London 1969.

Then when I get GTA IV Special Edition...
