Is this illegal?

Is it illegal to tell someone the location of cracks via PM? It's not like we are telling them on the actual forum where everybody would see it...

Also, is it possible for admins to track down what members send via PM? biggrin.gif

Oh, and one more thing, this is when the person HAS a legit copy of the game already. But some incompatibility is causing his/her game to not work. Especially when CD protection software like SecuROM and SafeDisc, ain't cooperating with Vista.

This error message is laughable...

The admins can, but usually don't bother. And while it is not endorsed, it is not illegal, we just don't f*cking talk about it.

I would assume that someone with the right access could look at anything that isn't encrypted or hashed, though unless you've hidden lottery numbers in your PM, I doubt it would be worth the effort. I'm pretty sure they can tell who has sent PMs to who without much effort.

As for whether or not it's allowed, I'm pretty sure the staff's stance would be something like "No warez" whether they really cared or not. I mean even if someone has bought a copy of the game, no cd cracks are still against the rules.

As far as I know if you own the original is perfectly legal to use one, if it is against the forum rules that's another matter.

Why not tell him inperson or via E-mail. I think as long as it's not on the board, it's fine.

Tis against forum rules to distribute any files publicly.

Also, due to privacy reasons we can't view individual PMs.
