Dolven
Are you really going to wait till 2013 and not forget GTA2? yes! you could have a good guess to see if it is alike with today, I'd wait until 2013 before starting to compare, but it looks quite accurate. Gibmyster
It's based in 2013!?!? It looks like late 90's to me.
liesofsilence
What about locking this thread and not opening it up until January 1st, 2013? Then we can truly say if life is like portrayed in GTA2. @Gib: The game was released in '99...

I really don't think it is, because all the cars are hover cars (or at least according to the art for the game)!
Dolven
I really don't think it is, because all the cars are hover cars (or at least according to the art for the game)! I find that strange since all the car artwork posted here have wheels and in the intro they did, I'm probably wrong I don't know much about GTA2. Skirge
what is the point of hover cars ? They don't have wheels, they float in the air. By the way, Claude Speed died in 2013 sad.gif Every dog has its day. This has been told a million times - there is no proof that Claude in GTA 2 and the Claude in III are the same person. agent17
Well, we aren't far off from what GTA2 was, apart from the technology. The world is in chaos, evil corporations, corruption, etc. Platty Isn't English.
Forty
Good luck with all that, buddy. The only thing that would make the wait worthwhile is if someone invented a lightning gun.
Dolven
...is if someone invented a lightning gun. Wondering when someone would bring that up, it's an electro gun I think. Does anyone have any pictures of these so-called hover cars?

Ovidiu93
Just whait a minute. If the cars in GTA 2 are hover cars than why do they leave tire trails???????? And, my opinion, the action in the game seems to be happening in 1950.

Fokker
The game takes place exacly 21 days into future, a stated on the official page: http://www.rockstargames.com/gta2/frameset.html That means we will never ever reach the time, when the game takes place, because it is always 3 weeks after today Which is something you would all know if you had ever taken the time to read the manual... In fact I think it says that on the first page.
Cajones
good to see some life in this section! Yeah i really like that idea that its 3 weeks into the future, really adds to the mystique of the game. i always thought that the setting of the game was kind of like the world after it destroys itself with corruption, coorporations taking over our needs and wants, crazy drugs everywhere etc etc.
jnzooger
I realize this is an old topic, but I feel the need to interject. The website for GTA2 has letters set in the same time period. They are listed as 2013.
Fokker
Maybe the people who wriote the Journal thought it would be easier to just pick a year rather than keep coming back every day to change th date? Besides, the date on the front page is "correct" so Edited April 23, 2008 by Fokker
John-
Please add a post and account deletion procedure! http://www.accountkiller.com/removal-requested You, as a webmaster or administrator, may have arrived here through an account information page on the site you're coming from. It seems the user tried to delete his/her account, however found this to be impossible.
