About 2-3 years ago he scammed several collectors, they paid for items they never received and he stopped responding to them, also his very first m.o. consisted of buying stuff and relisting it for 5 times the original price

He didn't even wait to receive the items, he always posted them the minute he bought them and used the same photos from the previous seller...

Surely these contracts also weren't approved by a real lawyer, as I feel like a real lawyer would tell him it'd be a very bad idea to do this.

So if we work on the assumption that the works were produced in Scotland and England in the main, by employees of UK registered companies (Rockstar North Ltd and Rockstar Leeds), then yes. There are offences there.

 

In basic terms, there are several offences that could be considered against John Doe, whoever he is sourcing the documents from (and indeed the person who uploaded them for all to see). These are, in no particular order:

 

1) Section 18A of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 

2) Section 7A of the Registered Designs Act 1949

3) Section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006 (excludes Scotland, Fraud is in Scots Law as its own thing)

4) Section 1 and 2 of the Bribery Act 2010

5) Criminal Law Act Conspiracy (to commit offences under the CMA/Bribery/Fraud) - with whoever supplies the documents

 

On top of this, both Rockstar Games and Rockstar North and its subsidiaries could start civil suit against individuals for the breach of their copyright.

 

So taking the above point 5, conspiracy - that could extend as far as those purchasing the content too, if for instance JD was asked to get a particular document, and JD went to their contact and offered them payment to obtain it - so any contract should be null and void.

 

In terms of extraterritorial enforcement of that, if the country JD is in (if not the UK), or the buyers etc has similar laws that mirror the ones above, or there's extradition treaties etc etc in theory it could be enforced. All of this is 'in theory' though, I can't see T2/Rockstar/Police Scotland or CoLP putting doors in over some ancient word documents...

Many thanks friend! This is much appreciated. To contribute something of my own, I am going to post a link to a set of audio files from the GTA V beta build uploaded by CarsonGT. I am also going to look around for the unlisted YouTube video with alternative animation from friend's request because that was also available in the days of 2018. From what I remember 2 very prominent users of this forum were fed files by Carson regularly between 2017 and 2018. I think it would be a good idea to compile all of the files you guys got and make them public, they can be of use for the community. Let's keep the momentum going

Btw, does anyone remember that back in 2023, one of the most notorious collectibles grifter, ToysGamesPlanet, was trying to sell for 15 thousand pounds an unlocked prototype of Vice City Stories from August 2006 that supposedly worked on a retail PSP? I tried to negotiate with him back in the day but he would was not willing to tell me anything concrete about the differences in this build and also did not want to negotiate the price to any rational level. The only thing I got from him was this mute black and white video with tons of watermarks showing a modified loading screen with a different than final art work and the spawn point of the build which was at The Compound. I think I still have that video somewhere, once I find it, I'll upload it to the internet, not that it is that interesting but just to piss him off since he explicitly asked me not to do it. The guy was impossible to reasonably negotiate with any attempt to reach a reasonable price were met with responses like JD's, the guy wrote a paragraph of text but yet said nothing of substance. Nevertheless, I am interested whether anybody knows what happened to that disc, since he took the auction down. I was hoping for it to leak with the recent wave of leaks, since RolandoBroom's LCS disc listed on AssemblerGames back in 2018 found its way to Archive.org, but with this one no luck so far.
