This is something I've been extremely excited about as GTA art/prints is one of my favourite areas of collecting. Earlier this year I purchased a huge GTA 3 promo banner - it was originally hung up in a European game store to promote the release of GTA 3 on PC in 2002. when I received it I took it straight to my local framers to put behind glass and now finally the project is complete. I chose the white frame with the black mat to mirror the black/white of the GTA 3 text, and I think it really enhances the art. I opted for anti-glare UV protected glass to preserve the art and make it really pop. 

 

I haven't picked it up yet, these images are from the framers studio, but I am thrilled with the result. I can't wait to hang this up in my house.

The Profiteering of R*'s Collecting Scene

 

Introduction

 

This post is intended to spread content freely to the community and as a sign of protest against a certain individual who goes by "john doe", notorious in the Rockstar Games collectors' groups.

 

This shady individual has been able to secure a lot of content over the years from ex-developers, ranging from design assets to sensitive documents, acting as a fence to protect the identities of the ex-developers who got greedy to begin with - he certainly hasn't been shy about flexing as much either!

 

His M.O. has been to either promise others content that he didn't own at an increased price based on another posting, or buying stuff for cheap and then reselling it at 10x the price. He's a known fence for illegal stolen content from Rockstar and his greed has caused previous leaks, such as those of the Manhunt 1 & 2 early builds.

 

Greed

 

John Doe has proudly flexed his contacts, his insight and the stuff he's been able to gather for years. He's also engaged in further illegal acts, such as requesting personal identification documents from buyers during sales, while claiming that he's interested in the security of said assets.

 

Of course, we all know that's all a lie because even if he plays victim, as if he's giving back to the community by selling stolen documents, game builds and press kits and making it possible only under secrecy by saying that if anything leaks "he'd lose his hard earned trust and contacts", the man is not at all concerned with security, legality or even morals...
He could have chosen the righteous path of releasing the content freely for the community to access, or at the very least, abide by his promise of exclusivity towards the buyers.

 

Instead, John Doe has been cleverly interacting with different members of our community from different groups, making sure to never sell the same thing to the same group. A man worried about keeping things secret would certainly avoid such risks, no?

 

Well, John Doe has instead been profiting massively for YEARS by selling and reselling content to many members and gouging the market by offering higher or lower prices depending on whoever he's offering to.

 

Select ex-developers have made a killing off his sales while being entirely protected with him acting as a fence. John Doe has easily made tens of thousands of dollars, often times reselling the same asset priced at e.g. 2k dollars to 5 different parties.

 

That cannot stand AND shouldn't stand any longer - John Doe has done enough damage, to his buyers, to Rockstar and to our whole community, by being a greed-driven, deeply irresponsible bad faith actor who thinks of themselves as the Robin Hood of stolen property, giving back to select few from our community, while really actually being the town's slut for anyone who can pay the price.

 

Today John Doe's assets will be devalued as he won't be able to resell them any longer for profits, so to the community, here you may have internal documents for GTA San Andreas, GTA Advance, GTA Vice City Stories and last but not least, a GTA Online design document dated 2001.

I’m not entirely sure how to approach this, but first and foremost, if anyone feels they have been affected by the recent situation, please reach out to me directly. I don’t want to address this particular post in detail, as I feel it’s more about stirring things up than offering any constructive dialogue. Additionally, I don’t fully agree with the narrative being presented here, but this is not about the original poster (OP). I will not address the specific points raised by the post due to the sensitive nature of the material involved, and I want to focus on the facts. I apologize if this response seems formal, but I want to be sure I communicate this carefully. To be clear, I have ABSOLOTELY NO INVOLVEMENT in any leaked digital material and NO POSSESSION  of anything of this nature. The individuals behind this situation are acting with malicious intent, and I want to make it clear that I have never participated in, nor condoned, any form of leak. Any claims to the contrary are completely false. Over the past year, I’ve been very active selling physical collectibles—things like baseball bats, memorabilia, and other items from my collection. I’ve faced a number of personal challenges, including serious family and health issues, which many of you may have noticed. I did everything I could to hold on to my collection, but it became increasingly difficult, and I ended up parting with a significant portion of it. This has been an incredibly difficult process for me, and I want to be transparent about the emotional and personal challenges I’ve been navigating. Unfortunately, through some connections, I ended up getting involved with people who were not aligned with my values. This was a mistake, and I deeply regret it. While I’ve spent many years in the collecting community and have always tried to maintain good relationships with those I talk with, there have been moments when I’ve been too trusting. In these cases, I failed to properly vet those involved, and that’s on me. It’s a tough lesson, but one I’m committed to learning from. I have collected and sold for a very very long time now and i deal with hundreds upon hundreds of people, a large chunk are good people but a few bad apples creating fake accounts and using proxies. It is my responsibility to be able to filter out the good from the bad which im usually good at. Sometimes things can get intense though and this can sometimes test the nature of a human, and basically i f*cked up…As a human being i have committed mistakes but i do wish to also solve them, which is the reason i am making this post. What i am trying to achieve with this post is simply by saying that i will try to own up to my mistakes. There is no need for me to try to get into a debate with the author of this post because it is basically feeding more gasoline into the fire. However my hopes are to be able to move on from this eventually. Sometimes it is best to stick to your own lane maybe. One thing i want to mention is that it is very unfair for OP to paint the picture of me racking up insane sums of money like i am flying private jets and eating lobster for dinner every day. It’s not like that even though it’s easy to paint it like that, this has certainly not been the case, on the contrary my life has been quite sh***y these last couple of years if im gonna be completely honest, i am not pulling the victim card once again or in any way try to sound like im gaslighting, but i need to be able to share my side of the story also because at the end of the day i am being attacked by anonymous account that is making claims about me, so please understand my POV simply. There is much more than meets the eye, but OP is not going to manifest that with his very broad and generalised post. Please remember OP is using an anonymous account and can make basically any claim that he wants about me adressing my name directly whereas as i have to be very thoughtful of what i say simply because of the nature of the discussion and the material he is sharing. I do not have any such material that you are describing. I may be wrong but I even believe i have had people try to hack into my computer through some reverse engineering scheme from my email to access something they will not find cause i have been receiving a lot of weird emails lately from accounts i don’t have and this is overall is getting quite uncomfortable. Whatever you say, but to whoever has that content... I would like them to know if they released it to the public, they'd be solid with the community as it's the right thing to do. Cat's out of the bag now with this discussion (which I hope is not censored), and just know, if you hold on enough to that content, you and everyone will end up with nothing, because that's exactly what happened to that GTA V beta build leak dude. What i can say something about is my deals with @johndoe2, that have been many over the last years. Never ever in all those deals he forced me into buying something or has been disrespectful in any way. To say someone like @johndoe2 is bad for the community, is just wrong. I can even say it’s the opposite! He gives many of us the opportunity to obtain the items we really want and search for a long time. Does he make a profit on it? Yes, probably, but who cares? The buyer apparently thinks it’s worth the money. No one is forced to making a deal. Without him I wouldn’t have the items i have now, and im sure he will keep helping me find more items on my wishlist. And if he asks more money then i want to spend on the item, i won’t buy. Also cool yes? If i have the choice to buy an item of him and another seller, my preference wil always be @johndoe2 Because he delivers always. I think that’s the most important thing. 
 

In my opinion the so called big collectors who are stocking the same items like they are M&M’s and not give any other collector the opportunity to buy the items (whatever the price is); those are the ones who need to be banned from the community. If you feel you maybe one of them, you probably are

I appreciate it truly brother, i own up to mistakes i have  made, i try to do better always. I am in a position where i can get merchandise and quite rare pieces and this also comes with responsibility. My motto is that i will always try to beat the prices on ebay.  I offer unique payment plans, i charge no extra interest, i give people as much time as i can, i also trade and buy. But again this comes with alot of pressure and responsibility and now i am owning up to my shortcomings. I have collected for many many years, in the heat of the moment intense negotiations  happen and you do your best to display good character and give the best price you can. But also please understand for anyone, if someone comes to me and is asking me for a unique piece of merchandise and in particular a piece that i only have one of, i do hope i will be able to make what a profit from it especially if i will not see it again probably. Shouldn’t i be able to profit without having to feel bad for it? In the end collecting is quite a selfish game but i do believe i am willing to put myself out there and offer unique pieces. I admit yes i do like making profits, but OP is painting this picture it seems as if i am stacking up which it ain’t true and he posted this in the merchandise chat for a reason i think. I have a unique talent for finding unique pieces and i profit from it in different ways, but i also tackle life generally. There have been instances i look back these couple of years where i tell myself maybe i shouldn’t have charged that much for this item and so on, but i always try my best to compensate that with getting other unique stuff and perhaps making up for that in someway. This is just part of being a collector and a seller. But there have been times also where i do believe i have been quite generous and offer very unique pieces and even pieces from my own collection to collectors. 98 % of collectors never give up on their unique pieces but i have, and i have given them to other collectors. People also come to me a lot and ask me to source stuff, which i am able to do. In the end i am just human, but i will always do my best to serve my customer. But my intention with the post was to own up to my mistakes.

I don’t agree that John Doe is a shady individual, he is just a collector/reseller who I have bought several collectibles from and I have never had a problem with him. Yes he is interested in maximising his profits, but he is trustworthy. 

 

However - and I told him this directly when he offered to sell me these documents previously - I fundamentally disagree with trading in this type of document. I would never pay for this type of document and I think it’s wrong to profit from it and demand that the buyer doesn’t release it. It’s greedy and against the interests of the community. I’m glad that these have been released as I always thought they should be available to everyone and not traded in secrecy for thousands of dollars.

I acknowledge your message completely and i take responsibility for my mistakes. What i will say again is that OP’s post does not paint the entire picture properly in my opinion as to the situation that has happened. If OP is the same person i think, OP technically did not get the material from me, he or she was able to leverage this out through a third party due to my own shortcomings a situation which solved already a while back to the best of my abilities at the time. I am simply stating this just so my name and character is not painted in a way that is not fair. I cannot say anything more in detail due the sensitivity of this topic, i just hope that OP’s narrative is not taken as valid without some critical thinking and urge @uNi to look over all of this so it doesn’t catapult.
