The problem just happen, and when I click the shortcut it won't pop up. The only way it will, is if I right click and "run as Administrator". Also when I click on an mp3 file, the same happens, WMA won't play it. Any solutions?

I just got Vista, and It keeps asking for Admin powers. But I'm already one?

Is this only account in your PC?

try to run safe mode with Administator account, there you can change User Settings and give you a Admisitrator status (i think, i'm on XP).

Can you get anything to play in WMP? I had a problem before which stopped me from playing any music and I kept getting pop ups saying something about invalid file format or something. It was from something completely unrelated to audio stuff, but some how affected it (I think it was a network thing).

If that's your problem, can't really help tounge.gif That problem occured right when I got the computer (with Vista) so I don't remember how I fixed it anymore...

You're taking about the UAC prompt - when you're an Admin in Vista, you still run in a limited account (of sorts) and Windows requests confirmation if you want to do an admin type thing.

Doesn't explain why you're getting it trying to play music. WMA isn't a player, it's a codec, a way of coding music into digital format. It sounds like you've installed another music player which has associated itself with the files you're trying to play. Is this possible?

What shortcut are you trying to click?

What is it you right click?

Click on an MP3 where?

What do you mean by "WMA won't play it"?

What player are you trying to use?

I'm clicking the WMP shortcut

I right click WMP shortcut at my desktop and click "Run as Admin" to open it. (Today it opens up fine)

MP3 file, music file.. from my Music Folder.

WMP won't play the music, when I'm clicking it from a folder.

WMP.

Well what I did to fix the problem, was install Real player 11 beta. And open all my music files with it. WMP then started working good.

Disable UAC completely. And did you test to make sure Windows Media Player could play other music files you have on your computer? If yes, then that .wma file is corrupted and wasn't coded properly.

It's because the file associations for it weren't set for WMP. Make sure you have the latest Windows Media Player (11) and download any updates for it. Also, I'd disable the [.wma] file type extension for the other media players you are using so that it doesn't conflict with Windows Media Player itself.

Look for these items on the WMP menu bar:

1. Go to Tools

2. Go to Options

3. Go to File Types

4. Click SELECT ALL

5. Apply & OK
