Opie, one of the radio hosts was recruited by Lazlow to do the voice acting for an Irish gang member who yells alot. Hope I don't get in trouble for promoting these guys but they're very good friends with Lazlow and have him on their show regularly. Opie and Anthony were all over Vice City Stories on the radio and voice acting for NPCs. Here is the clip. Sorry I didn't know where to upload this. Finally some Irishness in GTA. They usually base their gangs off of real life gangs, so I'd expect the Westies to be a pretty damn likely inspiration. They were pretty influential in New York (Hells Kitchen mainly). They were at their most powerful in the 80's if I recall? I mean I'm American and I feel like the stereotypes for us are a lot more embaressing... fat, stupid, religious cowboys that think they know everything.... I'd prefer to be that guy from the London Silly Nannies any day. Anyways... my friend has family that were Westies and others that were nypd... kinda like that one shoe about the irish brothers on showtime. I honestly don't know a super lot about them other than that they are like a smaller leaner and not italian mafia. They're all like real real new york, so you get that mafia vibe a little, but at the same time they tend to seem a bit younger, cooler, and more of street punks that push drugs. More like total mentalists who hired themselves out to Mr. Gotti every once in a while. oh yeah they certainly were violent nasty guys... just never a massive criminal empire like the LCN or Magdalena Cartel or Mafiya from what I've been told... more along the lines of a small but very tight nit crew of irish-american criminals from the westside... not unlike a black street gang or a captain and his soldiers in a larger organization. I know about Jimmy Coonan and Mickey Featherstone, they ran hell's kitchen back in the late 70s and did a whole lot of nasty stuff.
