This game was good up until the 5 fake endings and the Mount Everest-sized cliff hanger.

I started getting really impatient towards the end because you'd get one of your final Assassinations, and then it was like, "Oh wait! One more!" You'd take care of that one, "Oh wait! One more!" And then they hit you with the HUGE-ASS CLIFFHANGER THAT LEAVES YOU FRUSTRATED.

I guess by the end, so much weird and indecipherable sh*t had happened that when you find out some of the big "reveals", it's not that surprising and the cliff hanger ending just really put the big "I don't give a flying f*ck" stamp over all of it.

Thanks a lot Ubisoft Montreal, I hate you!

Well, this game isn't for everyone, especially whose who don't do deep thinking, contemplating, and brooding. My favorite part about the game was the story line and the themes in the story. Like "Nothing is true, and everything is permitted." Which basically means laws arise from reason and anyone can write whatever they want, making people believe it [what they write] is true. It also means that the world is an illusion, which most people submit to. That still remains true to this day, society remains the same as it was hundreds of years ago.

The story line is hard to follow for most people apparently.

Really f*cking annoying that you can't skip cutscenes EKFSGKRJGTSKFjskGMg

In my opinion, after winning the game they should have given the option to skip the dialogs, I already know what they said after beating the game a few times, but for the people just playing for the first time should have to watch the cut scenes, instead of venturing mindlessly through the game, and besides, you would be surprised how historically accurate most of the game is.

I just got home from my friend Tyler's, and he beat the game while I was over. God damn, the ending was stupid enough to make ME flip out, and I only watched him do two assassinations.

"Thinking"? This game doesn't make you "think" that hard. The story isn't that hard to "get", but that doesn't mean it can't be too ambitious for it's own good. That's exactly what it was. I don't think the whole SciFi element worked as good as Ubisoft hoped and for that, under-delivered. Especially that ending. Jesus, all that for "we'll be back for you shortly Mr. Miles."

I also suppose the whole "we're a group hellbent on world domination" was just really stupid to begin with and one of the reasons why I became slightly turned off while playing this. In-game, during the Third Crusade was really fun and wild, but I hated it when they'd disconnect you from the animus. It would just completely f*ck up the rhythm of the game. It was a total turn off in the beginning, but I stuck with it.

I have been thinking of buying this.

I heard the Varity of missions are not that great and it’s a lot of the same stuff, (follow him, and listen to them repeat)

When not on a mission, what is there to do in your free time? Is it worth exploring? Can you beat up random people in the street? What happens when you do?

What fun can you have when not on a mission?

original gangster

Well, you can search for flags. There's a few hundred of them or so... see how many you can get before you wonder why the f*ck you're wasting your time. tounge.gif

Or you can search for Templars, there's 60 of them. Basically the same as flag collecting, except you kill the templar. There's also climbing up to view points, but you'll be doing that anyway before your assassinations.

You can beat up random people yeah, but killing innocent civilians will lower you Sync bar which also doubles as your health bar, so killing a few of them in quick succession will give you a game over.

I know you get additional memories for collecting flags and stuff, but what are they...?

I'd also like to note how much fun it is to just jump around the rooftops. There is a seriously limited number of things to do. Before each assassination, you're told you have a total of 6 investigations to complete that pertain to the assassination. You are only required to complete two of those. They range from eavesdropping to pickpocketing to assassinating some lower guards or something in exchange for information from an informer and things of that sort. You can also "save" civilians who are being harassed by guards. So yeah besides either doing silent sh*t, saving people, scaling buildings or assassinating, there's not much to do.

Basically, that's what they are - a tally of all the extra things you did. I wish there was a more convenient way to replay levels. It's listening to all of the droning dialog and running down that damned hill again that's prevented me from loading this game since I finished it.

I suppose it's something to do once you've beat the game.

I love it, even by the end when it gets a bit repetitive, it still feels like I'm being challenged and you start to find new ways of doing things.

I was balancing this game and Uncharted as my first foray into Next Gen and still, this is looking like a must have, at least... haha I also traditionally like driving games so Gran Turismo is very exciting too.

I typically don't spend much time gaming outside GTAs, they have so much to enjoy it tends to be the only thing I play and GTA4 will be something!

Anyway, I heard the reviews saying the repetition is what everyone harps on as well as the let down ending that is an apparent advert for the next installment of the game.

  • 2 weeks later...

I completed the game 2 days ago, really enjoyed this game, After playing it once...the second time is so much better, more confident, never turning away from a fight where in the first go I just legged it lol.

Fun game, I will play it time and time again. I dont think its a repetitive at all, I mean you're playing as an assassin...Assassinations is the name of the game right?

lol bump! Can you add it to the topic directory please

I beat the game a couple of days ago but I need help with some of the achievements. The one for fighting 25 people at once, (cant find 25 people to fight), the flags and the templars. How did you guys find 25 people to fight at once. Is there a way I can do it or is it more of a spur the moment type of thing where u get lucky?

I want to buy it for the 360. Is it true that combats are ended with only one button? confused.gif

Also, is there any f-ree roam when I end the game?

Well I guess he is talking about the countering. Well you can counter through the whole game if you want but you'll take a lot of damage if you dont have the right timing. Also the AI changes its swings up a lot. So one time you'll press it quickly, other times you'll have to wait a bit for the enemy to get closer. Don't let the countering sway you. This is a must have game in my opinion. It is very well done, only problem I got wit it is all the damn talking confused.gif

Not at all dude. I mean it does get frustrating when the guys do a slow attack and you take it for a fast one, but assasin's creed is a game anybody can jump into, and the acrobatics just sweetens the deal. Its a cool game, and I heard there is a sequel in the making.

Yeah, it does, but it's a cliffhanger, and it was done really well and I, personally, loved it.

Looks like it's going to be set in modern day, if I understood what the f*ck was going on.

Nearly got all the achievements. Playing again so I can get the Conversationist (Go through all dialog with Lucy) and the glitch one.

Waddy's right though, it is better the second time round, now you understand what you're doing.

Oh, did anyone see the Zero Punctuation review? I thought it was spot on. Funny too.link

Dude those are the easiest to get. All you gotta do is wait for the Doc to leave, and when you see the glitches press...ANY button lol. My friend didnt do the Lucy one either and now he has to play the game all the way over to get it.

I know, but I didn't do it the first time round because I only bothered looking at the achievements after I started playing and when I was a few memory blocks in.

lmao:

First you have to walk all the way down from your home base from the top of a F*CKING mountain at the start of every F*CKING mission then you have to make your way through the target city pausing occasionally to nut the lepers glaswiegen style.

I know exactly what you mean. It's impossible for me, because I stormed a soldier camp that clearly had over 25 guards, but what happens is they don't all enter the fight at once even thought their right there. So I end up killing 10 guys, the fight ends and 10 more attack.

I never have the opportunity to fight 25 enemies at once, as if the game doesn't allow it or something, wierd and frustrating because I've technically killed well over 25 guards at a time on multiple occasions, but it's not counted because once 'fight mode' decommences, the next fight doesn't carry over the kills from the previous one.

I've left camps with over 30 bodies scattered, but I still don't get the achievement, what the sh*t....

I hate to say this, but I don't regret trading AC in. I know it's still a good game (although was too over-hyped), but the repitiveness of it really gave it a bad mark as I see it. The graphics are amazing though, it goes without saying. I just wish they spent as much time on the actual story and gameplay as they did the design and graphical detail.

Also: I've noticed people trying to avoid the "pony farm" filter, so: freeroam (quote it to see how)
