Has someone thought of doing this to GTAIV or Vice City?

Dunno about VC, but i think IV was thought about. The file size was too large or something. girishb will have more information on it for you, though.

Congrats on finding the jetpack, NTAuthority.

NTAuthority? I didn't realize that you played the Chain Game. Hey, where did you find the burglar data that you used for your map?

I'm looking for saves with girlfriends that don't appear when expected. In particular, active and happy girlfriends that are never at home. But I'm also interest in girlfriends who aren't at the usual meeting spot. I don't need saves where CJ has been dumped or the girlfriend has been killed. If you happen to notice a suitable save then please send me a link.

Has someone thought of doing this to GTAIV or Vice City?

I started poking around with Vice City save files, and decoded some of the structures, but then I couldn't get the play disc to work anymore and didn't make any more progress. It's been so long since I've played Vice City that I wouldn't know where to start making changes. Vice City was perfect, wasn't it?

I sometimes do tounge.gif Planning to join up again in this round somewhere, but not sure if I'll make it.

Hey, where did you find the burglar data that you used for your map?

I expected that question to come up again sooner or later. smile.gif I used a script that teleported the player automatically to almost every position (in steps of 150) and just read the enexes from memory, ignoring ones at the same position.

Inactive in GTA/R* title modification indefinitely pursuant to a court order obtained by TTWO. Good job acting against modding!

I suppose this isn't the place for a technical discussion, but I'm too curious.

Where in memory are you finding this data? The enex data I've been fiddling with is in dynamic memory so it's never in the same spot (Details). I've got the maximum number of enex records at 400, with 376 used by default, and if I add a bunch of dummy records to max out enexes the temporary burglary doors still function.

Did you find evidence of temporary enexes that connected to something other than a burglary interior? Another player once reported other destinations but I never found anything other than burglary destinations.

I have been waiting up on JAJ. We could get the IV Chain Game running any time we want; all the rules have been laid down too. But JAJ had some trouble getting the saves to work with the Xlive wrapper. I'm not sure if he has tried it again or not.

Couldn't we make a Chain game for Vice City a lot easier than IV? We could just start off with playing without any mods.

Possible, but I doubt if there would be as much interest. Most of the interest in the SA Chain game actually comes from the modded save. This was evident by the agonizingly slow round that we had with the normal unmodded save.

Not to mention, I won't be able to participate because I lost both by VC discs some time back. turn.gif

She stole your car! You two have so much in common...

Has anyone ever had their car stolen by a girlfriend? And if so, do you remember any of the conditions surrounding the event?

As a reminder, I'm looking for saves where a girlfriend is either never at home when she should be, or is never at the meeting spot as expected. Please keep your eyes open.

Haha, that has happened to me before while finishing a date with Michelle. The date was when she wants to drive your car around for a while. Then when she returns back to her home, Carl gets out the car first and she says something like, "Later baby!", and drives off.

Unfortunately, that was way back when I still played on the PS2.

On the plus side, it was her own Monster Truck. tounge.gif

Hey everyone! I'm new to the Chain Game. Just took my first turn. I've actually been following the progress of the CG for about three months and finally I have decided to get in on the action. Oh yeah thanks to "Kamuran" for finally convincing me (I hope I spelled your username right).

I would like to know how you put a line through your sentences when you edit and add your actual save to your post in CG. Anyone... Bueller... Bueller... Anyone. LOL!!

Haha, brilliant quote from 21. Although, i think i'm the only one who got it.

@Orion: I constantly get saves on PS2 where the girl is not at their pick-up position when they are definitely meant to be. I check it over and over and they do not come.

I dont know such circumstances, though.

I really dont want to be telling one of the masters of the CG what to do, but Orion, it would be quite helpful if you could save closer to the next mission location. Thank you.

But I did save near the next mission. Well... assuming the next mission is to go figure out why Michelle isn't at home when she should be. Sorry, when I saved in SF I didn't think that would be my final save for the turn. But then Michelle wasn't responding to boosting the sex appeal so I thought I had something I could work with and kept it. It turns out she just wasn't home on Fridays unless CJ checked up on her on another day. Besides, Calton Heights is near two warps. The Binco's just down the hill will take CJ back to the north strip in LV.

When I first started to play San Andreas, I would always go off this one ramp in the back of the Hospital in San Fierro. Here are some screen shots of the location.

Could we turn this jump into a new unique stunt jump for round 48 of the Chain game?

I always do that jump too, kamuran.

However, i think it would be too easy to land. Especially since most of the added jumps for the CG are usually quite difficult. Unless, of course, they make the landing zone ridiculously hard to get tounge.gif

Thank you for the input, kamuran. I like to jump this ramp as well (I'm not sure though if it deserves uniqueness), but I am a bit reluctant to adding unique jumps in SF because they interfere with the Katie Jumps Rally. There's one jump I really like, just behind the safehouse in Chinatown, and I haven't made that one unique yet for just that reason.

Since it's been determined that Denise is the only girlfriend that can be successfully dated regardless of the Wanted Level (Millie too, but only with the Gimp Suit), then would it be possible to modify the other girlfriends so that 4-Star Dating can be added to the Chain Game?

No. Enabling 4 star dating would require custom scripts, or possibly a CLEO mod. Both are prohibited under Chain Game rules.

Sorry, I didn't have enough information on the girlfriend's bitmasks to answer this sooner. Denise has a Drive-By Date flag that ignores the wanted level. If this flag is set the date is successful when the girlfriend runs out of ammo for her Mirco-SMG, so all but the driving dates are immediately successful for the other girlfriends since only Denise is spawned with a Micro-SMG (and 60 rounds of ammo).

Other Dating Trivia:

CJ gets +1 progress for kissing Denise, Michelle, or Millie.

Katie gets a tiny "fun" bonus for car crashes (not really worth the trouble).

Denise and Michelle get a tiny "fun" bonus for regular stunt jumps (not really worth the trouble).

Helena and Millie should really enjoy sunset or sunrise in a park or the countryside, but the script is broken.

Sex Appeal can still be a factor even after collecting all of the oysters.

Current Mysteries:

Why are girlfriends not at home or in meeting spot when they should be?

How to trigger a girlfriend to hijack CJ's car?

What conditions trigger a jealousy date?

How to trigger a girlfriend to hijack CJ's car?

Try going on a date with Michelle, when she asks you to let her drive the car in which you stoped at the red marker.

She drives around the block for a couple of miuites, and Carl is in the passenger seat, with the cinematic camera.

When she drives back to her house, she either, steals your car, or gets out and invites you in for some coffee.

I just talked to rudy_eilabouni today and he told me that he will be playing he Chain game again in about a month or less. He has been playing Grand Theft Auto IV for a while and he doesn't have San Andreas at the moment. It would be cool if we got more Chain game players.

Thanks for the suggestion, Blizzard14. I tried that. I tried that many, many times. I tried it with v1 and v2 scripts. I tried it with and without cleo mods and trainers to adjust all the settings, flags and stats. However, I have not tried any testing on PS2. At this point I think I'll hold off on this mystery unless I can get one confirmed hijack from any PC player.

I thought that was not a hijacking maneuver by Michelle. She does the driving thing and then let's us come inside her house for some 'hot' coffee. That is what always happened to me on CG saves as well as unmodded V1 saves Will she steal our car at that point?

The quote above is associated with the hijacking. Apparently, she drives away with the car during some part of a date, leaves CJ standing without a ride, and that message is displayed. (Hm... I wonder. Maybe if I teleport across the map before getting in a car she'll eventually give up on trying to find the way home. I can't test this idea just yet.)

Replaced the Bullet i used to Palomino Creek garage and saved in Blueberry (closest to Farewell, My Love for convenience).
By "replaced" do you mean put the same car back, or modded another Bullet for the garage? The original Palomino Bullet is intended for the Badlands Endurance Chain Game Rally. The Ballas tended to shoot the car up when this challenge is first available so bullet proofing (and 127 nitro) was added to the car.

Not that it matters about the car, but I've been really impressed by the current level of Chain Game play and thought maybe, now that we are between rounds, this would be a good time to bring up the subject of the rallies again. I recommend the Badlands Endurance for anyone who wants to learn how to get around LS and the Badlands quickly. This rally really helped me save time during the Paramedic mission I like to complete starting in Montgomery. Hunger during the mission is no longer a concern.

Swat Tank Vigilante Level 42 completed (This vehicle is so slow that it couldn't jump the Palomino broken bridge and plunged straight into the water tounge2.gif)

Were you using the SWAT from the LS impound? That generator doesn't have any proofing, so level 42 is damn impressive. The SWAT we stashed at the airstrip garage has the usual proofing (BP, FP) provided by the End of the Line mission.

Barbara is the new addition to CJ's set of Girlfriends

Really? I met Barbara during one of my turns. Did she get ignored to the point where she dropped out and had to be re-met? We better keep a closer eye on the girlfriends. I'd hate to loose Denise or Millie as there is no way to get them back without editing the save.

LV Gym Moves learned; guy knocked my down at i almost died! That has never ever happened to me. I dont even know what happens after you die in a boxing match. Do you go to hospital or respawn in the gym?

That LV gym guy has surprised me on more than one occasion. Damn he is tough. However, I've always reloaded so I'm not sure what happens next. Probably the hospital, or in the current chain game, a restart trap (anyone ever try to map the traps?). IIRC, only Bloodbowl, and some of the missions, use a restart override to alter what happens when CJ dies.

I have tried that Rally several times. I cant seem to make it all the way through the course without the car catching on fire and blowing up.

When I hit the 2nd and 3rd jumps, If I don't do a complete flip I usually don't get credit for the jump. I guess it takes practice. practice, practice. I know you only have to activate the slow-mo sequence for it to count, but trying to make the jump is part of the challenge.

The car seems to be very fragile and can't take much damage, or maybe its my driving.

I have even tried to drive slow and just make it through to the end, but no luck. The jumps usually take there toll on the car. I'll keep trying and see what happens.

It looks like it's been a while since that topic has been bumped. We could move the conversation there if there is much interest.

Yes, Endurance is definitely a key word here. Palomino to Dillimore, Unity Station, Jefferson, and then back to Palomino Creek with one car is pretty tough, adding the jumps is definitely difficult. Taking bullet damage coming through Jefferson was just too frustrating - hence the proofing. In the custom rally save we took over the turfs. Damn that was a long time ago - one of my very first custom saves.

Flight control is definitely a needed skill, but also needs to be combined with a strong knowledge of how to enter the jump and where to land. I posted custom IPL files that mark the landing zones, I'm not sure where. Those might help. Anyway, use the in-air flight controls to land the car flat, or on two wheels so they can slide without causing damage.

I hate to mention this, but I think I can trust the current players not to use a trainer during chain game play. The rallies are where I first learned to appreciate the value of a "trainer." I started using San Andreas Control Center to warp to the section I wanted to practice, measure damage to the car, spawn new vehicles or repair damage, adjust the time so I could measure splits, etc. Basically, using a trainer to train for a difficult challenge.

Route management is a primary factor in surviving this rally. It's also supposed to be the main point of the rally - try out all the possible routes and see which is fastest with minimal damage. The jumps were specified as a built in checkpoint. There are subtle things you can do as you approach a jump or crowded intersection that can provide favorable traffic patterns.

Yes, I used the the LS impound SWAT & actually was confident that i could go on & on a lot further since i had sufficient accumulated time & Minigun Ammo left. I had picked up a wanted star & thought of clearing it up being very near to the Palomino broken bridge bribe. But it was a stupid miscalculation & overconfidence on my part which made me not pick up enough speed for the jump which landed the vehicle right inside the water ending a promising Vigilante run.

Oh that was really a goof-up from my side blush.gif. I had parked one of the Everything Proof HPV 1000 at the Dock garage, met & got a positive response from Barbara, escaped to LS through the nearby warp but got busted due to some mindless stupidity. So i redid the mission & saved, but that Barbara thing was still in my mind hence the notes went awry tounge2.gif. Will try to be careful next time.
