Ok this is my topic so I'm gonna lay down the law here.

 

Enough of these comments about Osiris Knight. Yes he has cheated and other such stuff. It has been delt with, now drop it.

That is exactly what everybody here is trying to do. When we are over Osiris Knight issue, and discussing something else here in the lounge, Osiris Knight comes from out of nowhere and replies in this topic. Mostly, his posts are full of complains and such stuff.

 

You are one of the Chain Game officers. I am well aware of that, but still, I have a little advice for you.

 

Not to be rude or anything, but next time, you might want to try reading a few pages prior to the current page. 1 or 2 should be enough pages to understand what the situation in the topic was, and how it changed.

 

If you read the previous page, you will see that we were involved in a healthy and peaceful discussion, here in the lounge. Rubregg and OrionSR were talking about there new creations, maxrevv was talking about what specific mods might not effect the Chain Game.

 

And suddenly, out of nowhere, Osiris Knight comes up and starts whining about the issue that everybody here is trying to leave behind.

I undersatnd what your saying, and I agree with you but there are a few posts here that have stuff directed toward him in them. Enough of those is all I'm saying.

I agree with you. A smart thing to do now, would be restricting Osiris' Posting previllages in all Chain Game related topics.

I have contacted a moderator and asked him to clear all irrelevant postings in this topic.

 

If however, Osiris Knight chooses to disregard all of that, and continues to be a problem, we probably will have to take some action.

Um. I don't know what to say to that.

 

He wasn't casuing any trouble other then annoying you. There was absolutley no need to contact a mod and get the posts removed or deleted. It's not that big of a deal. If it's annoying you that much, well, leave.

If by "we" you meen yourself, you will be doing nothing. We asked him to leave The Chain Game, and so far he has listened to us. He hasn't casued anymore problems.

 

We would appricate if you didn't go around pestering mods to deal with this kind garbage. In the future leave this kind of stuff to the officers. We will get it sorted out. We appricate the help but so far you have been more of a nucense then a help.

Some posts contain stuff related to Life and Death. I wouldn't have taken the matter seriously, but then someone, (It is not important "Who") asked me to take it more seriously. If the topic gets reviewed by Law Enforcement, we (or at least, I) can get in serious trouble.

By "We" I mean the Chain Game staff. I do not like to poke my nose into affairs that I have no reasons to be messing with.

 

 

Now, I've said what I needed to. Now I'd appreciate that we don't put all our efforts into trying to get this topic locked, lets just try to put this issue behind us, and continue with the healthy discussions that were in progress before.

It's a sad situation that only he is responsible for & because of what he did it fouled things for all the players. At this point though, I'm getting really sick of all the talk of it & just want to put it behind us.

 

Could we please make this the last discussion of it? Is there really any point to continue?

 

Also this is supposed to be a friendly forum, let's not be getting upset over a poster's opinion of things. Asking someone to 'leave' doesn't make for a 'friendly' discussion & shows that 'we' are not being open-minded about considering other's opinions.

 

rubregg & OrionSR need some testers, this sounds like it'd be a fun thing.

 

A general question: Can the Oysters that are under the Aircraft carrier & in the sub pen in Easter Basin be collecetd by using the underwater glitch where CJ can walk around underwater? If yes, is there anything special that needs to be done?

Only oysters which can be reached from the bottom can be collected with the under-water glitch and they can't be collected while using a vehicle (incl. jetpack).

So there's only very few oysters that can be collected in that fashion (and I'm pretty sure the naval base ones can't).

 

But you can use a Vortex Sub and exit right next to an oyster it with a full breath.

 

A neat method on the CG is to grab the oysters and swim for the Squallo, and then use the boat ramp across the ship to grab a bribe.

That will very quickly get your wanted level back to a manageable 2 stars.

Wow, it is not often I get a chance to correct GTA Phreak. Oysters can be collected with a jetpack (I just tried it). CJ will still earn a wanted level. The Navy Base oysters are just within the lower level of the restricted cull zone. I was using one of rubregg's test saves for this test, and a jetpack cheat to speed things up.

 

Method: Drop a jetpack off the edge of the bank at the Hampton Barns undrowning zone so it sinks to the bottom. Swim to the starfish pair marking the glitch zone to undrown CJ. Grab the jetpack off the bottom of the sea and fly to the oysters. Stay low to the bottom to encourage chasing helicopters to drown themselves. Exit the water near the Panopticon/Blueberry bribes, Doherty PnS, or safe house to clear the remaining stars.

 

 

The helicopters are the main threat, but a little armor or health should be enough to get CJ to a safe location. Consider hanging out at the bottom of the sea until CJ only has a 2 star wanted level and he will be safe from helicopter attacks. It looks like it just might be possible to grab the oyster in the bunker by jumping from the top of a very tall vehicle. A Sandking and Ambulance are too short. It would probably be fairly difficult to navigate a taller vehicle into the proper position.

 

BTW, the amphibious assault bribe respawns very quickly; about 40 seconds. But beware of damage caused by too many jumps.

 

My usual method for grabbing these bribes is to drive into the bunker with a bike and spawn the Launch and find the oyster before getting off the bike so cops don't spawn. Jump in, grab the oyster, swim close to the wall to the Launch, make a run for the aircraft carrier oyster, and then head to the dry dock for an escape with the NRG.

Read the Quick Start Guide posted by Girish above. You're excused from reading the rules for now, but eventually you'll have to.

 

Also, welcome to the Chain Game. And thanks for showing your interest in the CG.

 

I doubt that you will be able to call any turns in the present round, as we've already made it past "Grove 4 life"

 

But I look forward to seeing you in Round 35.

Fortunately no one called a turn while I was playing.

 

Sorry about the remote save location. I thought I saw Import/Export cars spawning, but I guess I was mistaken.

I have a doubt/request/what ever.

 

I took a turn and played the mission Riot. I couldn't help noticing, that the only thing you do in it is drive from Mad Dogg's crib to the Grove! Nothing special except the blowing police Ranchers and HP1000s. Shouldn't be included in the exception to the "1 named mission rule"?

 

Also, I think JAJ forgot to add the mission "Fish in a barrel" to the list.

 

Exceptions to the 'One Named Mission' rule:

 

•"King In Exile"

•"First Date"

•"First Base"

•"Gone Courting"

•"Made in Heaven"

If you have noticed, JAJ has only included those missions in the exceptions that are only cutscenes and have no action involved. 'Riot' doesn't fall into this category since you actually have to do something in it. So, I don't think it'd make sense to include 'Riot' in the exceptions list.

Wow, it is not often I get a chance to correct GTA Phreak. Oysters can be collected with a jetpack (I just tried it).

I stand corrected!

 

The Jetpack is in fact excellent for collecting oyster (in deep water) using the undrowning glitch.

You can actually also pick up shallow oysters by dipping from above.

 

I wonder where I got the idea that you couldn't dozingoff.gif

 

 

I'm not sure how to get the "Drop the Jetpack in the water" to work (mine stays floating in the air).

But you can always unmount, remount while aiming a weapon and then drop in the water (still aiming the weapon).

The Jetpack will then be carried unattached in the water until you successfully undrown CJ

New Script Switcher

 

I just released a new version of the script switcher. Big new feature: turn the CLEO library off or on (if it is installed).

 

...thought this might make things easy for players who use CLEO scripts and want to switch them off for the chain game... wink.gif

Thanks guys, glad you like the script switcher. Now I very much hope the "cleo players" will use it during chain game turns.

 

Only JAJ knows when the next round will start - and maybe girishb. I can only offer an educated guess: soon.

The next round was supposed to start yesterday which was taking into consideration that we would have finished the previous round by then; but it didn't. The new round should start now (I saw JAJ lurking around) or at the most by tomorrow around 2pm IST. And JAJ also tells me that it is going to be a v1 barrier opening game.

Does anyone know how practical it would be to play a round with a Full Map Mod like SpaceEinstein's, or maybe DeeZire's since he restored the missing Impound mission? rubregg's script switcher got me thinking along this line. I only installed SE's once to check out the save anywhere mod and I'm not really familiar with the features. Would this work in a Chain Game format?

Not a bad idea, Orion. We could actually do this for the next round. What I would like to know is the probability of the save getting glitched due to mods/trainers and if it does, whether or not it'd be possible to correct the glitch. We wouldn't want to dismiss the round midway just because an incurable glitch crept into the game.

The possibility of an unrepairable glitch caused by trainers, cheats, or cleo scripts would be very low because all Chain Gamers have a great deal of integrity and don't use these during Chain Game rounds. However, since I'm not very familiar with the modifications made by Full Mod authors it would be more difficult to make a repair. Besides, we should not rely on my editing skills for making repairs. So far I've been lucky and able to track down the glitches we've found.

 

I am more concerned about glitches introduced because we are using the mods and saves in a manner that was not anticipated by the author, or features that conflict because different players are using them in unusual ways. If there is interest in pursing this idea it might be a good idea to contact the author for suggested rules that should avoid problems during the round.

 

My main concern at this point is the difficulty of installing and uninstalling the mods as required and documenting the procedure so that all players can participate. For example, if the SpaceEinstein mod is installed, and the script switcher used, people may find that their text messages are confused because the files that control the messages were not reset. Actually, I'm not sure if rubregg is handling the gtx files in the newer script switcher. I ran into this problem when I tested this mod for it's save anywhere feature. It didn't work the way I had hoped (it worked great, it just didn't leave the tracers in the save file I was hoping to find) and when I tried to uninstall my messages were still using the modded text file. No harm done, it just confused me for a while.

I think that this may be a good idea.

I've just been looking at the spaceeinstein_ReadMe.txt file (for 3.0) & there's a lot of stuff there to absorb.

I've found a lot of similarities to the current chain save. I'd like to encourage all that are interested in the idea to look through it. I also agree that it would probably be a good idea to contact the author about our intentions.

 

Here are a few of my initial concerns:

There are several 'extra' missions in the game; how to handle this.

There area a lot 'trainer' like mods; how to handle them, which ones to enable/disable or leave that up to the player.

There is a 'mission skipper'

At the end of the file there is a list of known glitches, this can be discouraging.

 

I'm gonna leave this relatively short for now but the more I look into it, there more questions.
