Lounge for The Chain Game: San Andreas

wow.........I just tried my first hand at the game and found a lot of great difference......there are pink ambulances......adreline pills......cop bike spawning near safe house......armour in wardrobe........cj spawns on top of a unescapable building in Idelwood after death(thats really clever).......(you guys already knew all that didn't you).........again thanx for the turn.......

dxk is correct, there is a cut-scene before House Party that increments the attempts but can't be completed. I don't think it changes the save name so it probably doesn't even count as much as a Lame mission.

I always thought that the cutscene was a part of the mission 'House Party'.

yes but remember the cutscene back at the burger shot??.......Loc quits his job and asks for a party before he goes back to cell........wait i think i have a pic...

after which this comes.....

@jaj's brother: Welcome to the chain game & thanks for playing! Glad to see that you could get to take a turn.

@dxk: Welcome to the chain game also & thanks for playing! Yeah, we knew about that stuff but no one has mentioned the 'Specially colored' Ambulances yet, they're that color as a tribute to rubregg. Glad to see that you could get to take a turn.

Do you need to name all of the adrenaline pill locations ?

I read something in the other ChainGame topic.

Well, actually, we put the pills on the map and mentioned them in the description, so they weren't that big of a secret and I wasn't anticipating much hoopla about their discovery. However, there are several features we've listed on the map that have gone unmentioned and I'm not sure if people are aware of their existence, so my comments are often intended to encourage any kind of "found something" message without discouraging people with comments that imply an annoyance with repeated discoveries.

Welcome to the chain game and thanks for taking a turn. That's a pretty good list of observations for a 1st turn; you even had a new discovery in the batch. There are still lots of things to be discovered just in Los Santos, and some of these changes are very subtle, so I definitely encourage discussion of anything that might seem a little out of the ordinary. There are also several ordinary changes, and these tend to get ignored. There's one feature that closed during your turn, and I don't think anyone noticed it.

jaj's brother - Welcome, and thanks for playing. So, are you in on all the secrets?

I'll take a turn.

Cool, I like Stuntplanes (unique color too?). Even if it is a bit picky on how you position it when you put it back after use lol.gif

It is a little awkward, but I was happy it worked at all. I've had this in mind ever since I saw your screeny of this plane in another topic, and was thinking of your Skimmer video as I put together my plan. However, it took me quite a few tries to finally learn how to land it properly; did you just "put it back" without a bunch of hassle? You always were good at those short landings. Must have been all that horseshoe practice.

Anyway, could you please do the feature discovery thing for me. I really want to get this map rounded out. Something like, "Hey, you can ______, I wonder if _______" if you know what I mean.

Oh, and yeah, that's the custom color for the UN Stunt Plane, someone will find it soon enough - I hope. I considered jacking the Barnstorming plane, but it didn't get any kind of health bonus from the race, and then I'd have to fight with the timer while trying to get it positioned properly.

A controlled crash is fairly easy to do as long as you don't have to worry about a bit of damage.

Seems there's a bunch of new players on this round (the kind that would take notice if they end up on top of an antenna after exiting a safehouse rolleyes.gif )

So don't worry, - your new features will be discovered eventually.

That's a pretty good crash, and a nice video as well. I was using a slightly different strategy. I found if I could stall the plane just slightly then it would stop and drop when CJ exited the plane.

Sorry to break this conversation, but I was just wondering about the actual 100% completion, and a little trivial thought came into mind.

Considering that the Sparrow spawns on top of Sweet's roof, what would happen when we reach 100%? As far as I know, when we reach 100%, a Hydra spawns on the roof. Seeing as there's a sparrow already there, how would it work?

Considering that the Sparrow spawns on top of Sweet's roof, what would happen when we reach 100%? As far as I know, when we reach 100%, a Hydra spawns on the roof. Seeing as there's a sparrow already there, how would it work?

Now that's the kind of thinking I like to see. This is one of the 1st questions about the vehicle puzzle. The Sparrow on Sweet's roof early in the game used to be one of the locked aircraft at the SF airport. The vehicle generators that use these variable names get hidden during flight school, and other vehicles generators that are not locked are displayed instead. For the most part, we've completely reworked which vehicles are hidden or displayed. So in this situation;

Sweet's Sparrow used to be a Locked SF Aircraft and must disappear before the Hydra can appear.

The SF Aircraft that is now Sweet's Sparrow was replaced by a new vehicle that is always displayed and unlocked.

The Unlocked SF Aircraft that would have spawned after flight school now spawns something else.

So with this in mind, I would encourage people to put more emphasis on side missions that unlock vehicles. I've been missing several of the vehicles I hoped would be available for use in Los Santos early in the game.

Thank you, OrionSR, for clearing that up.

By the way, I am not sure if it had been found before, but I found a Jetpack hidden behind the garage at CJ's safehouse in Ganton, Los Santos.

By the way, I am not sure if it had been found before, but I found a Jetpack hidden behind the garage at CJ's safehouse in Ganton, Los Santos.

Really? That response was suppose to generate more questions than it answered. I must be losing my touch. And yes, the Jetpack has been found; it's on the map with the other two added Jetpacks. The challenge with the SF Jetpack is reaching it, not finding it. CJ was a bit over weight during that phase of the game last round and that made it really difficult to solve some of the climbing puzzles. Anyway, thanks for keeping up the hunt for new feature. I think Grove Street is pretty much free of secrets now, but there's still plenty to be found in Los Santos. BTW, in that turn you took without missions, did you intend to claim discoveries, or provide details to assist with debugging?

So has anyone tried the Vortex as a Submarine Glitch? I had forgotten about it but recently tried it again and it's pretty fun. The trick is to take a unique stunt jump with a Vortex and fly so it lands in water; this causes the jump camera and slow-mo to keep in place until the Vortex touches something. Then drive by radar until CJ is out of sight of the jump camera. The Vortex (usually/sometimes, I'm still working on this part) sinks and when you touch bottom the Vortex can fly through the water like a submarine. It's a great way to explore some of the underwater features of the modified save.

There are only a handful of standard jumps that can enable this glitch. The one into the water of the upper dam for instance. I've also managed it on one of the jumps out of the SF airport, but it's really difficult to land in the water without hitting anything. The good standard jump for the main ocean seems to be the eastbound broken bridge jump.

However, many of the new jumps we've added to the chain game are really good for triggering the glitch. There's a Vortex spawn in a shed in the Panopticon, and a nearby jump to Fallen Tree. The Early LV jump near Montgomery is also pretty good, but there isn't a Vortex nearby. Anyway, if people like this trick I'll see what I can do to add it as a feature in the next round.

Well, to tell you the truth, I actually did try and search for new discoveries. But, since my lacklustre performances in the past rounds due to crashing, I was mildly paranoid over whether it would crash. I managed to lower my resolution to the lowest possible level, and it seems to be working now. biggrin.gif

Ah, okay. It's just that there was about a half a dozen features in that general area and you sort of hinted at a couple of them, but I wasn't sure if you noticed anything was different, or were discussion your progress in debugging crashes. I was wondering if you have the same crashing problems with your own saves, saves available for download, or random SnP requests.

All of my crashes occured on all types of saves; personal saves, Chain Game saves, and saves that I had previously downloaded. What I found was that all the crashes happened whilst I was in a car, when my game was loading (especially at Doherty) and when I exit a building. However, since I lowered my resolution, everything is going fine so far.

Have you tryed to re-install your game? That might help.

This is an idea.

I personally think that in the rules/guidelines section their should be a little FAQ section. Answers to commen questions that new players ask. Such as these few.

Chain Game FAQ

Q. Where does the save file go?

A. In the San Andreas User Files folder

Q. Where this is a mod'ed save file what do I need to install?

A. Nothing

Q. The game crashs when I load it.

A. You may need to use pdescobar's ID converter. It can be found in the Mission Help Index

Q. What version is this round?

A. Look at the topic title. It will always say.

Q. GTA SnP is down, what should I do?

A. Use another uploader such as rapdishare.

Q. So all I do is just call a turn?

A. Yep. Its that easy. Just make a post saying you are taking a turn.

Q. I can do any mission I want that is availiable?

A. Yes.

Q. I found something special. What should I do?

A. Tell us about it in the notes section or your post.

What is your guys opinion on this?

I like the idea, but I don't think adding it to the title post is a good idea. It's really long as it is, and making it longer may put off people from learning more. However, something like this would certainly be appropriate for the title post of this topic. Particularly as this topic will stick around longer so the same information won't need to be reposted again and again.

A would suggest adding My Documents to the location for the saves. \My Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files\

Our modified save is designed to work with unmodified version 2 scripts and datafiles.

Game Crashes: ID, script version, cleo, reinstall. This can get complicated.

List ID change right after suggesting alternate hosts. SnP does an auto ID fix.

I do sort of agree with you on that matter orion. I think it would be better in the CG but it also could be posted here. I agree with you 100% that the rules are too long as it is, I think they should be shorted up, but thats just my opinion. Thank for the tips to add to them.

That's not such a bad idea, but I think some of those questions answer themselves.

By the way, my game always crashes when I come within a certain radius of the Doherty garage. I would have re-installed it, but I lost my CD for the game, which means I can't install anything again.

I guess then you'll have to buy a new disc.

Have modded any area around Doherty garage?

Is the Berkley's RC van special ?

Found one by Zero's

Never knew that they exist.

And It is Berkley's RC van not just RC van tounge.gif

Sorry if this has been mentioned but a Bandito, a blue-white(LoL) FBI Rancher and a NRG-500

spawns by the big (your) farm in Whetstone.

Also there should be hay here

Also a stunt plane spawns there

And why is every vehicle that spawns there (nrg-500, FBI Rancher and the Stunt plane) white-blue ?

Also a super-gt spawns by Whetstone safehouse

And a green tow-truck spawns at El Corona safe house

Ohh, - that's where OrionSR got that stuntplane.

....

Actually, I think I'm going to bail on the hole secret feature idea and just map and list almost everything.

I'll take a turn now.

A new Pay'n Spray.

Although it is rather big, it isn't very useful for aircraft (difficult access).

There is a new chaingame Pay'n Spray in LV (discovered on an earlier round) which will paint aircraft on the roof though.

Btw: On an unmodified save a Sparrow can easily be sprayed in the Ft. Carson PnS, with a little effort it can take larger aircraft too.

Well this is definitely a good morning; lot's of new discoveries to discuss. Thanks gentlemen.

Berkey's RC Van - yep, that's a special. It was in previous rounds (before round 20) but still counts as an added vehicle.

The Whetstone Farm has been set up as a UN Armory, hence the color choice. Actually, my initial test on the FBI Rancher was simply to set the colors to #1 and #2, and I liked how it looked and kept the theme. You may notice the Royal Canadian Rancher at the Molholland Armory as well.

Super GT at Angle Pine has been discovered, but the El Corona Tow Truck is new to the list. Nice work Bad~Boy.

Oh, and I have no idea about the hay. I didn't change the objects. Actually, I don't think I can change your objects.

And Phreak followed the bread crumbs to the T-Bone PnS - thanks. This garage will close after the T-Bone mission. We lost another garage during the LS strand.

You think I stopped there do you?

Oh yeah, from the main topic: We should note that Naseem Srour has identified the Queens Hotel as an armory. With the current setup, it's the destination for all armories.

Edited by OrionSR
Ohh and on the quoted save Rubregg was receiving visits from JAJ and Samutz.

They wouldn't let me in though (I even brought flowers), - could be due to the fact I was dressed in heart boxers only lol.gif

There you go, one more plate found, and one more to go. However, there are still 4 player references yet to be discovered.

There's still one undiscovered Armory, and quite a few garage modifications yet to be discovered.

Sorry, I was unable to find a hospital interior or I would have tried to arrange admittance, but there is another unused interior added to the save that has yet to be discovered.
