Well, I don't know. I turned off the comparability setting and SAMA seems to be working just fine without it. And I've never had a problem running it under XP Pro SP2/SP3 so I'm not sure what to suggest.

 

I'm not having much luck with rubregg's script switcher under Win7. Switching my scripts is easy enough but I miss having a hotkey for disabling cleo.

Oh, so this is a Win 7 related issue? I was wondering why it won't work on my laptop. I thought there was something wrong with my SA installation.

 

I don't understand why it won't work though. The script switcher is just a batch file, right? It worked so well on XP and Vista; ideally, it shouldn't have any problems on Win 7 either.

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I'm not surprised it's having problems. That was a pretty fancy batch script, and I think it was reading the registry to find the SA install folder. I'm guessing that's where the problem lies, but I'm not sure if I'm up to the challenge of figuring it out; even to hard code it for my installation.

About Rubregg's script switcher on Windows 7, it might be the UAC (User Account Control) feature on Windows that might be interfering with it.? You might have to lower the UAC setting to the lowest one for it to work-as Windows 7 does not have the option to turn off the UAC like Vista does-I have checked this already, and there is not an option to turn it off-only to turn it to the lowest setting of "Never notify me..", unlike Vista where it is either ON or OFF setting. That's how I had to do it to get it to work on Vista-is to turn OFF UAC. So, it might work on 7 too to lower the UAC to the lowest setting. Hope this helps.

I managed to get the rubregg's script switcher working on Windows 7. It looks like the Win7 registry uses different keys (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ instead of HKLM\SOFTWARE\). Changing HKLM to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE might work for some Win7 users, but it wouldn't work for me. I never installed San Andreas on Windows 7; I'm running it off the old installation, which is on a secondary hard disk - drive F:. So instead, I manually assigned the game path. A method that should work for anyone who can find the program path.

Other changes to the file - but won't affect how it works.

Added: I also had to change the permissions of my SA program folder. I don't know why my generic permissions as an administrator, power-user, and user weren't working, so I added full control for my specific user and the write protection problems went away.

Possible glitch alert!

 

During my turn doing 'The Da Nang Thang' mission, I noticed that if you try to jump onto the small brown crates on the ship, you get wasted instantly. I tested this 3 times and I died every time. I completed the mission by avoiding the crates and jumping onto the containers directly. I don't think this would affect the savefile or anything, but is this supposed to happen or was this already known?

I had a problem with whenever CJ jumped down the parachute appeared, which of course removed his weapon from the ready. Almost got him killed a couple of times.

 

I also did the Da Nang.. without problems.

Everything seems fine to me. No problem with the small brown crates or the parachute. I even replayed Da Nang Thing without any problems. It was probably a one-off glitch with the collision, something that restarting might fix - perhaps.

@lil weasel, I think that was me. I was doing oysters, had done the first part of OG Loc (obtaining the all proof PCJ-600 that I put in El Corona garage). But I got killed and forgot I had already done the all proof bike and didn't finish the mission. The bike is still in the El Corona garage though. I will let JAJ know so he can decide if my turn should count or not.

@lil weasel, I think that was me. I was doing oysters, had done the first part of OG Loc (obtaining the all proof PCJ-600 that I put in El Corona garage). But I got killed and forgot I had already done the all proof bike and didn't finish the mission. The bike is still in the El Corona garage though. I will let JAJ know so he can decide if my turn should count or not.

This is ok. I checked & there wasn't a 'Wasted' reported in Samutz's uploader.

 

 

Do not fail a storyline mission unless it's to collect a special vehicle (BP/DP/EP/FP). If a special vehicle has been collected, let us know in the Notes section.

Yeah, it should be that way but there is an exception & if I understand it correctly it's when the wasted or busted occurs close to Katie or Michele's house after they have become CJ's girlfriends.

Don't know if I understood right, but failing a mission doesn't always mean to get busted or wasted.

The known exceptions to the busted/wasted restart traps are:

 

1) When close to Katie (wasted) or Barbara (busted) when they are active girlfriends -- but close is within a radius of 1500 meters, so basically half the map. It is this exception, combined with glitch reports from players using the Chain Game saves for independent play, that led me to drop the restart traps. They are not very effective; we need to check the stats regularly.

 

2) A death during the Bloodbowl mission. This is the most problematic exception because the player may not be aware of the death if it occurs during the fade out at the end of the mission when CJ is stuck in the car and the competition can continue to shoot. If CJ dies during Bloodbowl he will be placed in the normal exit position at the stadium and not at a hospital. I am still in the habit of checking the Hospital Visits stat whenever I complete this mission.

Ok, I got killed in obtaining the oysters--- I had already done OG Loc and killed OG and got Freddies all proof PCJ-600-- I saved the game. This gave me a fail. I started collecting oysters and finally got killed, so I restarted from the last save... which already had the bike saved in El Corona. But, when I did the boat school and collected the oysters and finally saved, I forgot to redo OG Loc and pass it. Therefore I have a save with a fail in it but did not produce the mission pass for that particular mission. If that is not a problem, then all is ok.

cry.gif What's the deal with the Territory Wars? I mean I'm working the Los Santos zones and the message Zone being attacked flashes. I look on the Map and see that the North Eastern most zone in Los Venturas is Flashing...

I popped a motorCop to use his cycle to shut down the Attack, this glitch is something I don't like to do.

Is there any way to fix this for the next game?

That is because the Chain Game has added Gang Territories in SF and LV that were added as part of the save. This makes it easier for the second part of LS, since those territories are usually taken over by some people after Doberman, so by the time Homecoming comes, we already have the required amount to finish the game without having to worry about taking more territories first.

# Some zones have been adjusted so gang wars can be triggered in SF and in LV.

# Several of the zones have added features and added pedestrians. A few more of these in Round 37.

-Here it is in the rules, as posted by JAJ. This makes the game more challenging. Besides, if that happens and you don't want to venture into 4-star land to defend it, all you have to do is go to any save house and save the game, this will stop the attack and retain the territory as Grove St. Hope this helps. It doesn't happen that way very often-for me, that usually only happens after I take a few territories in a row. Perhaps Orion or JAJ can explain that a little better than I did, as he(Orion) and Rubregg are the ones that designed the save... Edited by radioman

The zone in question is Ballas (Purple), it had never been 'taken' as GSF (Green).<edited>

If it had been taken i could understand the 'attack' on it.

This is a flaw that should be addressed in the future. <edited>

jaj's brother conquered the Creek turf during his Management Issues turn, so the attack is normal.

 

Using a mission trigger to cancel an attack appears to be a safe and reliable method. If you don't want to use it then go defend the turf.

 

Just because you don't like the way it works doesn't make it a flaw.

lil weasel, JAJ told you to call when you take a turn. Look at the Chain Game, now there are two Robbing Uncle Sam saves!

Calling the turn won't add too much to the database, as when you edit the post, you delete the 'I'll take a turn' text.

Hey guys & girls....

hmvartak asked me a little while ago, when does the complete (all weapons) Shooting Range Challenge become available?

I'm guessing after Yay Ka-boom Boom but that's a guess, I'd like know for sure because it's for hmvartak's uploader.

So please no more guesses, please only post an answer that you're sure about.

Weird... I Steal a Car from the ship. "Customs Fast Track" mercie_blink.gif and I get a message saying I Delivered a car (35,000$)? ... ?

I think that's part of the auto-export feature. Isn't there a cut-scene showing the ship and crane after the mission is complete? That should be enough to trigger the first export.
