Yeah, well. My 25% estimate was based on 1 of the 4 being disabled, but it does seem like that door is disabled quite often. Perhaps there is another factor; being last on the list - maybe. I can see how this could be annoying when recording. I found the line that needs tweaking. If you "comment out" the last enex line in data\maps\SFn.ipl (near the bottom) with a # character and add the custom line at the end of the example enex section posted below then the armory should always be available without affecting anything else.

enex-2636.13, 2351.92, 7.59756, 0, 2, 2, 8, -2633.13, 2351.92, 7.59756, -90, 0, 5126, "SFHSS1", 0, 2, 23, 6-2626.29, 2359.75, 8.00576, 0, 2, 2, 8, -2625.29, 2359.75, 8.00576, -90, 0, 5126, "SFHSS2", 0, 2, 23, 6-2627.09, 2309.93, 7.35039, 0, 2, 2, 8, -2624.09, 2309.93, 7.35039, -90, 0, 5126, "SFHSB1", 0, 2, 23, 6#-2627.09, 2283.33, 7.3178, 0, 2, 2, 8, -2624.09, 2283.33, 7.3178, -90, 0, 5126, "SFHSM2", 0, 2, 23, 6-2627.09, 2283.33, 7.3178, 0, 2, 2, 8, -2624.09, 2283.33, 7.3178, -90, 0, 4096, "SFHSM2", 0, 2, 23, 6   // Armory Availableend

Be sure to make a backup of the original ipl file before making modifications. If you forget to comment out the original line then many of your existing enex connections will get scrambled. If your wardrobes are linked properly then everything else should be linked properly as well.

Thanks for the code. I went ahead and recorded my video by starting from the Armory at the Sherman Dam, which is the closest save-point to Bayside (without using the teleport markers). I immediately went over to Bayside, and it took about three tries (re-starting the video-recording), but the entrance-marker for the Armory finally appeared, and I was able to complete the video, and save there. So it all worked out, and I was able to show that Armory in the video.

Chain Game for PS2 Beta 2 now available at GTAGarage.

Or rather, the files will be available as soon as they are approved.

Beta 2 is the same as previous versions, except files have been renamed and the unmodified save has been removed. However, I would appreciate it if anyone with the required hardware and software would download and test if the new saves load properly. Full scale feature testing shouldn't be necessary.

Update: I managed to get one of my old PS2 consoles working and was able to test both versions of the NTSC saves for PS2. The PAL saves still need testing. PAL v1 probably works, but I was never able to find anyone to test the PAL v2 saves.

Added: I was investigating file hosting services and used my IPL Armory Objects file for testing. This mod was supposed to be an optional addition to the Chain Game, but I think it might glitch up the peds that spawn with the gambling machines if you save in the Armories so... use with great discretion. Anyway, Armory Objects include vending machines, gambling machines, exercise equipment, and video games, all crammed into the Armory. Sorry, no pool table, because I'm sure it will glitch the pool player if the game is saved while he's active.

Hey JAJ, sorry for being inactive in the Chain Game. I know I haven't played for almost a month, but...

I see that the Driving School needs to be done. Can you handle it?

If not, you can wait until 8 December, when I'll have my last exam. After that I can finish the Driving School and all the other 'hard' stuff.

It's your choice.

That's okay, exams are lots more important, good luck with them - you will probably need it.

I can handle Driving school but I choose to let someone else do it. After all, the chain game is for anyone to play & do any mission that they want.

Is the Garage of the Safe House near the Hospital not supposed to be active.

The door wouldn't open for me.

If you are talking about the Redsands West garage near the LV hospital, then no; that garage was moved to make the dock garage possible. This modification has been in effect for over 30 rounds.

Well... crap. According to the CG script change log, the main difference between the current save and that of previous rounds was moving the LS Airport Roof jump farther south so the traffic is easier to manage - which is also good because that's the location shown on the map posted with this round. However, it appears the the wowai LS Jetpack thing started earlier than I though, so...

The LS Jetpack isn't in it's usual location at the tree behind the Johnson house. I cleaver player shouldn't have much trouble figuring out where it is, so I won't spoil the hunt for new players that might want to track it down.

This is about Lil weasel's last CG turn. 6 hours did not pass since JAJ's turn was complete and neither did Weasel wait for the 3 mission wait rule. Is that OK? Or am i missing something about the new rules?

^That's true.

Maybe lil weasel should post the 'It's been more than six hours since the last turn was completed..." text, or at least not post two turns in the same post. It's a little confusing...

@lil weasel,

Please be sure to call your turn 6 hours after the previous turn was completed.

Please call a turn in a seperate post.

You or anyone may post the text about the 6 hour rule. But please be sure that it's been 6 hours after the turn was completed.

Thanks for playing!

The long version:

It's the (sort of) unwritten policy to forgive the first break of the rules, it's a little confusing about the 6 hour rule. The 6 hours start when the turn is completed. You weren't off by very much & there really wasn't any harm done as you did keep the game going. It's not like there was someone waiting to take a turn. But rules are rules & I must respond because of the above quotes.

Also, girish has indicated that it's alright (and prefered) to make a new post for each turn. Call a turn & then edit is generally what the players do. I understand that editing your previous turn cuts down on the number of posts and makes one less post for the forum to keep track of and that helps to make the forum faster in the long run.

Sorry blush.gif Guys:

I thought I had read in the rules that I had to wait three missions of other people, Or, six hours from my last mission. Which I thought I was doing.

I reread including the FAQ (which I hadn't read) and found that it reads...

"• Wait until 3 other turns have been completed before calling another mission.

• If 6 hours pass without another gamer completing a turn, then the '3 mission rule' is reset & anyone may call a turn. This does NOT mean to wait 6 hours between blush.gifpersonal mission/turn calls.

[i totally misread this as being: I had to wait six hours before doing another; I didn't read this as I had to wait 6 hours after another player completed a mission]

As I said, I hadn't read the FAQ, which I did now.

FAQ

Q. When can I take another turn?

A. You may take another turn, when 3 turns after yours have been completed, or when a officer posts something like this.

Its Been More Then 6 Hours Since The Last Turn Was Completed. The 3 Mission Wait Rule Has Been Reset And Anybody May Now Call A Turn.

The officers being:

• crazyanurag

• girishb

• quartet1977

• JAJ

• rubregg

• ryan92

So, I find that I am wrong in my understanding of the Rules. Thank you all for the corrective information.

I will do what I can to correct my erroneous way.

I apologize for causing distress to the games participants.

I thought that the Editing TIME STAMP was quite clear as an identifier cryani.gif

I have rarely ever used the strike through, as I just paste over out-of-date info.

So ;. before anything .. I would ask if my turn (right after Lil weasel's) is legit or not ?

Anyway .. I should call that 6 Hours has been passed before my intervention

You should be OK. The problem I caused was that I had done a mission and only one mission as completed IN BETWEEN the two missions I did.

If you only are doing an occasional mission there is no problems.

It's only Repeating game players like I was who will get stuck on the waiting period.

vassily's turn is legitimate because JAJ decided that forgiving lil weasel rule violation was appropriate. Play on!

It is generally accepted that anyone who can correctly calculate the 6-hour reset may take another turn or post the Reset Text. It is not necessary to wait for an officer to call the reset.

Posting two turns in the same post violates of the 3 hour completion rule; it becomes impossible to verify that either turn was completed within three hours because there is no end time for the first turn or start time for the 2nd turn.

My philosophy is that once I post a completed turn I've got about 10 minutes to make corrections, tweak the text color, add a 2nd download link, or make additional comments. After that, and definitely after 3 hours has passed since the turn was started, the post should not be edited.

vassily, you posted in the Chain Game topic that you forfeit because you can't wait 11 real minutes. Well, here's a tip: save the game two times and advance 12 minutes!

Why rewrite everything? I just copy-paste the whole posting tags from the last turn, and make the informations modifications done in the actual turn. The two site uploading thing is quite useful, for those people where one of the sites doesn't work/load.

About the editing... you can post a 'Originally edited on...' text, so the next player knows when you originally edited the post. It works like that too, right?

I don't rewrite anything. I usually copy and paste my turn directly from SnP. When I'm more active I often customize my SnP settings to include my name and color choices. The only time I copy and paste from a previous turn is when I want to steal the other player's fancy color blend. My problem is that I tend to do a lot of side missions and sometimes I forget to include everything in the notes.

Several players have tried using the "originally edited" strategy in past rounds - I don't like it. The differences in time zones would require adding the +/- GMT/savings time qualifier, and generally adds to confusion.

IMHO, editing after posting the completed turn and making adjustments for completeness and appearance is not fair to anyone waiting for a 6 hour reset. The timestamps are part of the official CG record. When a turn is complete then leave it alone. If a comment or addition must be made a separate post is preferable to messing with the completed turn.

Under Chain Game Suggestions: "Try to keep the safe house saves minimal."

Save if you have progress you don't want to lose. Save often if you have crashing issues. Saving to advance the clock is not within the spirit of this long-standing suggestion.

Save if you have progress you don't want to lose. Save often if you have crashing issues. Saving to advance the clock is not within the spirit of this long-standing suggestion.

Actually, there is an exception to that rule-sometimes when you load a save, the next available mission is not yet available, until a certain in-game time-I remember in the past, when I played on my old laptop, I had to do this on a few turns to get the mission to where it is available.? So, in that case you would have to save again to advance the clock to the appropriate time. Just a heads up..

But, as far as editing your posts afterwards, it would be a good idea to note the Original edit time at the bottom-for example, if I took a turn at 6:04pm CST and posted my results @ 7:05pm CST, then I had to go back and add/delete something at say 8:15pm, I would note the 7:05pm edit time and then at the bottom when I was done, I would put something along the lines of "This post was originally edited at 7:05PM CST." What do you guys think about that idea?

But, I agree with the save often if you are prone to crashes and freezes, as back when I played on my old laptop, I used to get freezes and crashes all the time-like every 5 to 10 minutes, so I know how bad that is when you've done a lot of stuff and then the game crashes on you. Since then, and even now, I usually save after every mission, side mission, collectibles(after about every 10), etc.

Yes .. but .. I didn't want to increase the "Time Saved" number . Or I could just save once (to 15.00 ) and I could survive until 22.00..

No problem ..

Seems like that stupid error happens again.

This bug was already reported by, incredibly, JAJ. He posted in this topic. However, Tank said that the error shouldn't occur anymore, but it seems to do.

You can see the code by clicking 'QUOTE' to JAJ's post and find somewhere the link.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop, and SAMA works great without the use of Compatibility modes...It even works great on Vista Home Premium. It is on my XP Home laptop that it does not work on-Any tips/tricks to get it to work on Windows XP Home Edition?

Edit- How does XP Compatibilty mode work on Windows 7, when SAMA does not seem to run on XP? Just curious on that one... I ask, cause SAMA does not work on my old XP Home laptop, but it works great on my Vista Home Premium desktop and Windows 7 Home Premium laptop without compatibilty modes...on my old XP Home laptop, SAMA did not work when I had SP2 and it still does not work after updating to SP3...

Strange .. I used SAMA for 3-4 Rounds before ; with my old laptop with XP SP3 installed ... It works ... and likewise with my new one with 7..

Maybe there is a problem with the SAMA executable ... maybe it is corrupt or there is something mission (maybe the .net Framework)
