Lounge for The Chain Game: San Andreas

so..err...i downloaded the last savegame in the topic and did a missions : dont even called a turn, i just wanted to see how it works

 

but at first the save game crashed and i used the tool at hmvartak website to change the script to V1.

 

but i am now wondering: do i have to change the script to V2 again, so other people are able to continue the save?

I don't think of it as a 'retarded question'. Thanks for asking.

We would prefer that you change your script.img & main.scr files to the V2 version and then play the save that way. And then if you use <Samutz's Uploader/Downloader> (highly prefered & strongly suggested) it will automatically change the save to V2. You can read about it on the first page of the chain game.

Been ages since I've been here, so I figured I'd pop in and say hi. It's great to see The Chain Game is still going and that there are new players.

 

I just started university so my life is starting to get quite busy. It's great here though. I like it. Hows everyone else doing?

Has anyone tried out 722890's last save in the Chain Game? I can't get it to load regular or unconverted. The game crashes in both saves.

@772890, remember, there is Armor in EVERY safe house Wardrobe, so there is always Armor availible before saving, unless using the SF Garage or Toreno's Ranch or IP casino save spots, as those are outside safe houses, and thus do not have a Wardrobe. Just a heads up...

It takes time because people don't play. Just some weeks ago I've seen MyHair playing this game, and in this round no move.

Also, I've seen today zmoonchild browsing the Mission Help forum, but no turn.

Very often I'm seeing JAJ or DREVIL919 who just watch the topic.

 

Maybe people don't know enough about this game.

We used to get through rounds in ~16-17 days!

@miro: Don't count on Zoom taking a turn. He very rarely does these days.

And when you see people just looking at the topic, perhaps they just want to see where it is up to and dont have time to have a turn - like me.

With less players queuing up to play, maybe the rule on waiting should be changed.

I wouldn't like that. And it's six not three. So, everyone could come every hour and do a turn.

We don't need another Chain Game, we just need more players.

And the best way to do that is to do some kind of announcement...

Yes... I meant three turns. A lot of time is 'wasted' waiting for people who don't show up.

It isn't as though another game can't be started when the current one is finished.

It's the playing that's inmportant not the stats... right?

And, the game is modded so no matter what, it's not like playing the Vanilla game.

Perhaps you still don't understand about the chain game starting save.

The starting save will almost always be a V2 (script.img & main.scr) game. This is so that both V1 & V2 can play. A V1 starting save would not be a modded save & it would be a lot harder for a V2 player to play; they would have to downgrade their game version & that's pretty complicated.

The difference will be whether a V1 or V2 (EXE.) will have to do the area opening missions. We try to alternate these unless I make a mistake like I did on the 54th round. I understand a lot better about the difference in the saves now thanks to hmvartak.

 

There is a little more to it besides "just to copy-paste the whole content from the last round". With that being said, the next round is ready to start & will be posted soon.

Just to note that the last eight rounds of Chain Game were V2, so I guess we're going for V2 again.

Withou close contact it's hard to know why a person leaves.

A guy I knew got caught by the feds using a passward breaker program to get into pay sites and got banned from the internet altogether. Only heard about it from another person who knew him personnaly.

And as you said some get lives (other interests).

Yes, but there are other lots of people in the other San Andreas forums, who could play.

Some example are even you, lil weasel, who are a big fan of San Andreas, but you just don't play.

 

Maybe the Chain Game officers should make a call to all GTA San Andreas players?

Some sites don't want their members to know of other forums. I got a warning at my first GTA site for recommending a web page on this forum site to a member looking for specific information on a topic.

That site has very well enforced rules on discussions.

This place is certainly a lot more lenient then. Even personally, I think it would be irrational and inconsiderate to warn someone for trying to help someone by linking to another GTA website which has more useful info than your site has.

You betcha... that site is dying. There hasn't been a new post in a week on the SA sub-forum. They used to lock down a topic that didn't have a reply in two weeks. This summer they are trying to revive some of it. But most of the people are into IV and Red Dead now.

With permission from JAJ, I decided to make some videos using the Chain Game save. I was thinking that it might help in promoting an interest in The Chain Game again, and bring in new players.

 

I have lots of people on a daily basis asking me questions about San Andreas on my YouTube channels, and I never get around to answering all of them, which means there are still a lot of people playing San Andreas.

 

The videos will be uploaded to my “mods” YouTube channel. I have over 1,700 subscribers on my primary channel, which I have linked to my mods channel. I can’t put the Chain Game videos on my primary channel because the videos on my primary channel don’t have mods in them.
