And film length really doesn't play a part in how much it grosses, a good movie is a good movie.

Are you f*cking kidding me? Of course it does. The length of a movie determines how many showings they have at a theater.

@Scar: King Kong was a PG-13 special effects laden epic, this is much different.

I love Denzel. inlove.gif

Maybe I'm just not as critical as some people are with movies, but this flick kicked some serious ass. Too bad there was little room to flesh out some of the characters more, and I didn't really like the ending since I always root for the bad guy (it's 'based' on a true story though, I know). The conflicting characters with two plot lines was a good idea, but I would've much rather just followed Lucas' character for two hours.

Awesome movie either way.

Yeah, I didn't like the ending either. Although it was dramatic the way the church music was playing and realizing at the same time it was over for him.

Oh and Stevie Lucas was stupid. He should've pursued a baseball career instead of trying to be like his Uncle Frank. Look what happened to him.

Great movie overall.

I enjoyed the film. The long running-time seemed to breeze-by and while Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe both gave satisfactory performances, I thought it was the well-written, witty'n'gritty script that kept this film alive. Maybe not deserving of the all hype it's gathered so far, but still a very good and engaging film.

I saw it in theaters on sunday. I really liked it. I thought it was a little better than training day. Though it was really long. I love how the movie starts with Denzel burning someone alive, and him shooting a guy in broad daylight in front of a large group of people and just walking away.

Finally saw it Friday night, great f*cking movie. That raid on the apartment near the end of the film was just awesome, very realistic and violent. Nothing better than watching drug pushers get blown away by pump action shotguns.

People, including myself, actually did jump when Denzel shot that dude in public. It was loud as hell. Everything went perfect, and to all those people who said the film 'dragged', you don't know how to appreciate a film at all. Terrific acting by both Denzel and Crowe, and Brolin as Trupo was great. I love the way he went out.

I found it hilarious that Cuba Gooding Jr. played Nicky Barnes, Cuba looked way too damn scrawny to be Nicky.

I want Frank Lucas' Chinchila coat...

Seeing as it just came out in Australia yesterday, I'm guessing this topic might see a mini revival.

All in all, it was a pretty good film. Nothing special and nothing we haven't seen before, but it was still ok. Mainly thanks to Denzel Washington. I was pretty disappointed with Russel Crowe though. Whether or not it was due to him not suiting the role, or him and Denzel not having much chemistry (at the end of the film), he was rather sh*t.

6 maybe 7 out of 10.
