Gambling?

As you no SA entered the gambling side of grand theft auto. I thought it was really fun especially Blackjack and video poker. And it was really good that you had to work your way up to the higher tables even tho it wasnt that hard..

Just wonderin do you think IV will do it again or do you think they will scrap the idea for this game. And most importantly would you like gambling in gta again?

Mind you it would be kool if gambling in the game was perhaps just a mission for instance you have to play poker against a mob boss or something, ( not going in to detail).

Anyway what do you think?

Unfortunately, most gamers found the gambling aspect boring in San Andreas. It's more fun in real life!

There could be a remote chance of R* reintroducing the feature, but I ain't gonna bet on it. wink.gif

I never cared for the gambling in san andreas. It was dull and boring, but the gambling concept is great

They should make it more interactive this time around. Replace the "flat" video poker with an illegal poker party in someones basement. You know, with a table full of gangsters smoking and drinking. And if someone lose they wil become angry, and then some guards has to take him out while he curses and threating to kill you.

The reason it was boring is because there was nothing to do with the money. I played roulette, banked $14million, and all I could buy were a bunch of sh*tty safe houses, or some car I'd have to drive all the way to San Fierro for (after waiting a WEEK!). If there was an actual use for the money you won, gambling would become very fun.

yeah gambling would be ok, but if theres some cheats then i think most of players would use them (like money cheat), but i play games without cheats at first.

I know this comes up every time but IV is a "rags to slightly better rags" storyline. So the chances of there being a gambling game are minimal.

I would like to see underworld betting.. Now poker or things like that, but dark, dingy basements.. Lots of smoke.. Games like russian roulette.. Now THAT would be cool.. 1/6 chance you die.. But you can only play it once a week.. Maybe betting weapons, or making trades instead of bets.. (Example: You bet on a game of something, and instead of getting cash, you get your winnings taken off a weapon of your choice from the 'dealer')..

I still think we need a sort of 'fight club' basement activity.. Maybe in an old warehouse, 2/3 nights a week you can go and bet, or get involved in brutal fighting.. Sort of like the 'initiation' in the Warriors.. Would be really cool.. Finding out about the fight clubs in a bar, then giving your mobile number to someone and they contact you on the nights..

ya underground gambling wud be way better than in SA which had casinos. say ur playing cards with a bunch of mafia guys in the back of a restaurant and u keep winning, maybe after a while theyll get pissed and try to kill u when u leave. like sum guy will blast u with a shotty when u go out the backdoor into an alley.

The reason why gambling was boring in SA is becouse casinos looked like crap. And noone will bet in a crappy casino. If they make better casinos it could be fun. Also it would be cool if you constantly win and people around you cheer for you, and when you lose all they curse and stuff like that...like in the movies

Gambling in my opinion is dull in real life....take a chance....and see what happens.....yipee.

So, in a video game, you know it's gonna suck some major balls. So, how about just playing poker with friends, say with Little Jacob, or pool for serious cash. Dominoes too, since they weren't included in SA for some reason. Just a lot of card game would be fine. Nothing like video poker where you feel so detached. I wanna actually play a part in whether I win or lose money.

Yeh I totally agree, this would have been great in GTA seeing how the pool was something like that.

Gambling isn't a bad feature to do for fun. That's how it was in San Andreas. It wasn't terrible. It would be pretty cool. They should add some more games.

Gambling was cool in GTA SA. It just didn't have much appeal since it was easy to make money in the game. In GTA IV it could play a much bigger part.

I would like to see the gambling like in Shenmue 2 the Arm wrestling, Dice Games, maybe even cock fights.

Due to the saving type on SA though, I managed to reach $18 million in no time (just save and gamble $1 million, then save and repeat, loading again when you lose). So it may make things too easy. =/

Thats sort of like cheating though really, and R* can't help if some people use the game in that way.

YOU ever see the movie "lion heart" .. jean claude van dam fights underground street fights under bridges with a bunch of homeless people to make money .. and then once people see that he never loses he moves up and fights bigger, better fighters for more money for an organization of rich people and stuff .. and he still never made that much money when he was fighting for the rich people so that would stay true to the "rags to slightly better rags" feel of the game ..

It is cheating.

Gambling would be cool, but I agree in that it shouldn't be in casinos (no problem here, because as far as I know there aren't any proper casinos in New York). More like in basements around a table with men drinking whiskey and smoking cigars. Now that would be cool.

Lord knows how much money I spent betting on horses in SA though.

I found it easier too kill drug dealers. Bam!!!!! $2000 almost everytime.

How would you know most gamers found it boring? You may have found it boring but don't try to make what beleifs sound better by saying most people.

I really didn't care for it since it was hard as hell especially the horse betting thing but it would be fun to have it in 4. Maybe Niko will be able to open his own racket or something.

chess in park

Chess in Middle Park, I didn't even think about that. I don't play chess, but you could kill some time with that, especially if the AI is real good.
