Did you watch the trailer? They were spoofing GTA. The spoof didn't say Grand Theft Scrtchy it was Marge talking about banning the game. They didn't make it seem like it was pony farming or anything similar to GTA. And last time I checked when you spoof something it has to atleast look similar to what you're spoofing.

You don't really pay attention atall now do you. If your going to start an abusive arguement, make sure you know all your facts.

Did you not read what I said? That poster appeared ingame only. They got that poster out of the game and posted it on the internet you f*cking dumb ass. It didn't appear in any stores or in any magazines advertising the game.

Now if the game didn't open up with that big yellow The Simpsons Game and instead said Grand Theft Scratchy then it would be different but then again it didn't open up like that now did it?

Look at the image again, its a photograph of a full size poster that is shown in promotions for the game. It may be in the actual game but the fact is they are using a real life poster of it to advertise and promote the game.

But that poster can't be found anywhere besides the internet. Can anybody find where else that poster has been shown? For all we know that's a poster from EA's offices.

It was shown at the announcement conference for the game, although I am now reading that there were also parody game covers for Bartman Begins, Medal of Homer, & Neverquest of course making fun of Batman Begins, Medal of Honor and Everquest. Obviously EA own Medal of Honor so that's fine however Sony own Everquest and of course Warner Bros owns the rights to Batman Begins and they haven't complained. Its possible they aren't aware, either way its probably some marketing department of Rockstar or even Take 2 the parent company who have spotted this and got their panties in a bunch. People seperate from the ones actually developing the game.

Well now we see how this can be taken either way. It's not really advertisment since it was released awhile back and I didn't hear R* complaing then or any GTA fans and they were actually praising it. Also I didn't hear R* complaing about the countdown site either. It would've seemed less desperate in R* case if they had made this complaint 5 or 6 months ago but I'm pretty sure Warner and Sony knew about theese spoofs and like the EA guys said when you spoof something you're doing it out of respect. I've never seen something sh*tty be spoofed. Not to mention The Simpsons have spoofed everything including GTA before and no company has complained.

It's all to do with marketing, and as far as I'm concerned, Rockstar has every right to defend their product from sh*tty parodies.

Why though?

Remember in GTA San Andreas, Doing to export/import vehicle missions at the docks, if you recieved the bullet, the numberplate was EA Sucks? Now that EA have taken a stab back at Rockstar, They're crying like bitches. I dont think they should do anything, but whatever.

If it's a lot bigger and more recognisable than GTa, then why does it need to advertise the product using spoofs of GTA and other games such as that Grand Theft Scratchy poster?

At the end of the day this all boils down to straight up business and money.

Like a child's game of "Telephone" gone horribly wrong, it seems that the whole Rockstar vs. The Simpsons Game controversy has been blown way out of proportion. Around the time of Leipzig, rumors started flying around the blogosphere that complaints Rockstar made about the game had been the impetus for some posters promoting the "Grand Theft Scratchy" level of the Simpsons Game being removed from the show. As the weeks went by, the rumors grew to titanic proportions with stories of actual content being removed from the game and a level name change. All of this resulted in quite a bit of speculative Rockstar bashing not only from the press, but from some of the games' writers as well. But, as we've now discovered, it was mostly unfounded.

In a comment to Kotaku on the subject, EA rep Tammy Schachter had this to say.

"  Thanks for giving me the opportunity to put these rumors to rest. There was absolutely no content removed from the game as a result of complaints or comments by another publisher.

The spoof content and parody storyline for The Simpsons Game has been in place since the early stages of the titles' development. In-game spoof content for Grand Theft Scratchy has not been removed. "

Rockstar has remained typically tight-lipped on the whole situation but given all the trouble they've been having lately with certain Florida lawyers and the overblown hub-bub over Manhunt 2, who can blame them. The reasons for the removal of the posters from Leipzig is still a bit of a mystery, but who knows what goes on behind the mysterious walls of EA? In any case it seems that quite a few outlets and individuals owe a certain Rockstar Games a little apology. Strike that, a big apology

in-game content not removed

I don't think some people understand entirely.

R* doesn't seem to be annoyed at the parody itself. Look in Driv3r, with the Timmy Vercimellis, or whatever they were called making fun at the fact Tommy couldn't swim in Vice City. R* didn't care, and that was a game in direct competition.

It's moreso because GTA's likeness is being used to help promote this game.

Come on man don't be retarded. If you really think The simpsons which is a more than a billion dollar franchise that has been running for more than 20 years isn't more recognizable that GTA then you're nuts. The Simpsons is an american staple. And for the last time they didn't use that poster to advertise the game they used it as the announcement poster just like all the other spoofs in the game.

Yeah I know, but I was just using it as an example, because some people think R* is being hypocritical, and getting annoyed at being parodied. That can't be the case, because they've been parodied numerous times, and dish it out themselves.

Not when it comes to games. They are using Rockstars success to advertise their game. It started as a joke but has gone to far. GTA4 will sell more in its first day than this sh*t will altogether.

We are speaking of two different mediums though, video games and a TV show. In gaming circles GTA is clearly more well known then the Simpson's in game form. I still understand what you are trying to say, some people like you and I clearly know the difference between a Simpson's game and GTA but you have to think of the casual gamers and generally people not fully into the world of video games who wouldn't know the difference. People as a whole are generally pretty stupid in all aspects of life!

I can see what R* is so upset about.

Yes R* parody popular culture, but it's not used for advertising their product. Look in every and every one of R*'s trailers.

You wouldn't now they parody anything, unless you play the games.

By the looks of things "Grand Theft Scratchy" is used for a large amount of the game's story, complete with the fact the game cover is very similar to a GTA game.

At the end of the day it's probably trivial, but I think calling R* "babies" is just as bad, as R* kicking up a storm about it.

They have every right to defend themselves.

Now, so how can 'babies' create the greatest games of all time?

I think "Ea" (which sounds like 'Eeeeaaaa' in a disgusting manner) creates the most disgusting games to date, including Need for sh*t: Carbon Monoxide - Own the sh*t , .Hairy Potty and Command but Conquered 0.3: Tit Wars
