USB Wireless Adapter

So last week I bought this cheapish USB wireless adapter for my desktop PC. So I follow the instructions but for some reason it wouldn't install properly. I returned it and the guy at the store said there was probably a fault with it so he gave me another one. Tried that and the same error came up as the first one (Code 39 whatever that means).

I don't know wheter it's my PC, or maybe it's the adapter but I can't get it to work.

I was going to buy a different brand (that one was TP-Link I believe) but I'm not sure should I bother, or even if I should get a specific make. I am on Windows XP Pro SP2 if that helps.

Well I was talking to someone about wireless adapters and they said to just get a wireless adapter card instead of the usb yoke. Is there much of a difference in the two anyways?

I would say a pci wireless adapter is better than usb, but I have no proof to back that up...

I would never buy the usb ones though,

I would have to say drivers. If the computer doesn't recognize it, its usually drivers.
