Red Sox vs. Angels

Talk about a great scene for the playoffs this year. Every team in the AL could potentially win it all, and the NL wild card race was one of the most exciting finishes I can recall. That's about the only thing Bud Selig has gotten right in his tenure: the creation of the wild card.

So who you guys got in this one? It is increasingly difficult to bet against the Red Sox. When everyone is playing the way they're supposed to, they truly have no holes. They have speed on the base paths, power throughout the lineup, guys who don't strike out, and the pitching from top to bottom. I don't know how you can go into a playoff series expecting to post a lot of success against the likes of Beckett and Schilling. Regardless of his struggles through the year, Schilling is always scary in October.

The Angels are a very solid baseball team. They have a lot of depth and I think their pitching is underrated. It hurt them that Ervin Santana didn't live up to his billing this year, but the rest of the team has come together very well. Having Vlad play DH might bite them a little bit, because he will need to get a lot of hits to make up for his lacking presence on the defensive side. Chone Figgins had a career year but was unable to carry his momentum into the playoffs, ending the last week with a whole gang of 0-fer days.

I call Boston in four, with one loss to the Halos in Los Angeles, then it's on to the ALCS. I don't think the Angels have enough pitching to last an entire series against that potent Boston lineup. I wish the Angels would've played NYY in the first round. They know how to play against the pinstripes, and New York's old men can't seem to keep up with the Angels' quick baserunning.

I chalk tonight's game to the pitching. Beckett was on fire and Lackey was in Fenway.

But it's ok. If the Angels can split the series on Friday. They have a hell of a chance at home.

I like the Angels' chances at home, but it will be difficult having to go back to Fenway for possible clinchers. That is a rouuugh place to play in October especially.

It's gonna be hard for the Angels. As of right now, if they do get a chance to clinch, they'll either be playing against Beckett at home again in game 4, or playing at Fenway in game 5. I'd think playing Beckett at home is the less of two evils.

Honestly, I feel the Angels have a better chance at home than playing at Fenway. I just love how Boston plays at home. Unfortunately for the Angels, if they loose the game tonight (which I expect them to), the only way for them to win the series is to have that final game back on Boston home territory which I personally believe will mean a loss for the Angels again. Sucks, but I want Boston to win anyways so it works for me. haha.

Well, I think I'm going to drink the pain away tonight.

Told you they were going to lose. You just can't beat the Red Sox at Fenway anymore. lol Great way to end the game though. I was shouting in happiness when he hit that last homerun.

Did you guys see that kid who stole Manny's pop foul away from the Angels' catcher? That was fantastic! Everyone cheered him and patted his back, some girls nearby got his autograph, and at one point a news crew interviewed him. What a baller. He's like Steve Bartman's doppelganger, rofl!

So they walked Papi three times intentionally and Manny couldn't do anything to punish them except draw a walk, but on the fourth time he sent that gigantic blast over the Green Monster and out into downtown Beantown. f*cking sweet, you gotta love that!! GO SOX!

f*ck yeah! Go Sox! I loved how that kid caught the ball. The Angels players seemed so pissed about it. haha. Funny thing is, unlike steve bartman (who everyone hated), this kid really got the star treatment for it. I noticed they carted him off partway through the game. Was that to interview him? or were they taking him somewhere else to watch the game?

Anyways, it was a great game and I love how it ended. I was expecting it to go into extra innings just like the Yankees game. Shows just how extra great baseball gets during the post season.

I don't think they gave him better seats because they showed him later in the game, in the same seats.

Did anyone notice Steven King seating behind him? Creepy.

When I saw him being taken away, there was a guy nearby with a camera and another one with a microphone, so it looked like only an interview. As dY said, he was back in his seats later. How could you get better seats than that anyways? He was on the front row next to the Sox dugout. Think of what that homer must have looked like from his angle? He had the perfect shot of that thing flying away over the wall from the side of the plate he was watching from.

That was what I was wondering. It didn't make sense to me. haha. But yeah, he just got interviewed, read it online yesterday.

Anyways, I'm kind of bummed they won so quickly. I knew they would, but I was hoping for more of a series. It is amazing how many sweeps we have had so far. At least the Yankees put up a fight and kept from being taken out early.
