Choice of AIO printer/scanner

I seriously need to get a new printer and Scanner, I was thinking getting either:

Currently I have an HP 845c which is a piece of sh*t to say the least. right now I'm 80% cannon and 20% HP. Which one would be the better choice?

 

I do frequent normal black printing, and an occasional photo print on glossy paper, which one would be the best choice. Cannon cartridges are dirt cheap, compared to the HP's

 

Also are there any good OCR applications which can convert both typed documents and clear handwriting? I don't care if it's free or not, as long as it doesn't cost as much as Omnipage Pro dontgetit.gif
