Lobzik
Hi, I have had SA on PS2 for quite a while. I've seen all of the mods for it that are available for PC, but my PC is nowhere near powerful enough to run SA properly. I desperately want to use some of the mods (specifically the 'Driver' mod, and one or two car mods), and I was wondering, is it possible to mod them onto PS2. I realise I will need to buy some extras for the PS2 for that to work. I have also been told that it is possible to mod on Xbox via ftp with the computer, with no mods to the actual xbox. Is this possible? I've found loads of conflicting information and would appreciate it in black and white. Thanks Matt
Girish
I don't think mods are available for consoles.
CCPD
You can’t use mods on PS2. There are few mods available for Xbox, but I don’t think they are any good.
Lobzik
I'm pretty sure you can do certain mods for Xbox via ftp.
Hollaz
Yesh, but then you gotta "chip" it. (No more going for that things. Google.) And then you gotta put SA on Xbox HDD, and then make it over FTP. (I've managed to put some vehicles and spaceeinstein's AIO Mod.)

Lobzik
Well, there are numerous reasons why I prefer consoles to PCs, is the process of chipping an Xbox relatively easy?

TheRyder1
Can someone tell me what chipping is cos ive heard alot about it but dont know what it is you can get your console chipped from some places (not sure though) the only thing i know about chipping is that you can play copied games ..so you don't have to have to pay like £30 for a new game you could just get a cheap copy of the game .. no case or nothing but still good. Ive had my ps2 chipped cant remember the place tho.

J-Fox
The chip will actually replace some routines added by the company making the console: for example security or hardware checks. There have been alot of chips for the first Playstation so you can play games from anywhere (by removing the countrycheck), a sideeffect has been that you also have been able to play pirated games (until then nintendo used roms so making copys was alot of work). However, its also possible to exploit these security checks by using bugs in the firmware (called Softmodding) There are a few techniques for the xbox (more stable) to be softmodded and a fed for the ps2 (less stable). Overall the homebrew scene for the xbox is bigger (Leaked XDKs...) so more exploits have been found. Most of the mods for PC can just be copied to your xbox / ps2 without any modification and they should work straight away. However, some file formats are slightly different so you have to convert these mods. To play the mods you have to create a virtual disk or copy with the original game + the installed mods. But atleast on the xbox you can use softmodding and some memory injectors to use mods with an unchipped xbox and a legal GTA copy you got from your retailer. //Edit: Installing a chip isn't too hard, but you will loose your waranty (its illegal..) and you should know what you are doing.
