Rain Ocampo
Before I start, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I wasn't sure whether it came under Tech support or gaming. Onward to the point of the topic. Basically, I want to import a copy of Manhunt 2 from the US, but I live in the UK and have a PAL format PS2, and I don't know how to modify my PS2 to play NTSC format games. Can anybody tell me how I would do this, what kind of things I would need? Thanks in advance!
K^2
You need to do several things. First, you need to remove region protection from your PS2. Usually, that means installing a mod chip. That involves some soldering, and if you don't know how to do that, you better find someone who does. Second, even region-free PS2 will output the signal in the format that the game asks for, which in this case will be NTSC. You will need to deal with that in one of several ways. First, you can get a signal converter. It is usually a digital device that might create a frame or two of lag, but it is generally unnoticable. Another option is to have a multi-region TV. I'm not sure how easy they are to find in UK, but they are popular in some parts of Europe for sure. An entirely different option all together is to try running the game on an emulator. However, there is no guarantee that this game will work. If you want to try that, first make absolutely sure that somebody got the game to run, and you can acquire all the necessary software and patches to do the same. It has to be the same release in the same region, otherwise patches are very likely not to work, so keep that in mind. Other than that, emulator shouldn't care if it is the NTSC or PAL game. Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.
