Fozzy Fozborne
Wow, that was some horrible typing, half the words in that sentence were misspelled. Use something like this program or Follow these directions to load songs off the iPod. It's only a trial, but if you're only going to use it a couple of times, then it will work great for you. Rhoda
So no-one's going to help him? Regardless of where he came from? I don't think it's possible to transfer songs off one's iPod to another library. What you can do is make a playlist, copy songs onto a CD, stick that in your computer and burn them off. Svip
There are applications to do it. But I know one that runs on Linux. I know it is possible, just don't know how on Windows. And can't really be bothered looking into that.
Fozzy Fozborne
I already gave him the answer in my first post. Try reading the directions to move files, or download that program to do it for you.
Banana
thanks for the help. btw how do i get rid of the current artwork of one of the songs?
Fozzy Fozborne
I do believe it's a hidden .jpg file within the folder of the song. (For example, the album "This is X" has a folder on the iPod drive named "This is X", there should be all the songs from that folder that you've downloaded along with the jpg file.) I don't think you can delete it directly off the iPod, but after you copy the files to your computer, navigate to where the song is, click (in the upper portion of the screen) "view" then click "view hidden files and folders" then click OK. You should see some hidden pictures at which point you can delete the picture you don't want.
Skyline_Mad
The way i do it is time consuming, but it works, and there may be other easyer ways, but i used this method while at college, and we were not alowed to install any programs, so this was the only way i could listen to my music through a pc: First u need to make sure you can see hidden files (in any folder go to "tools" then "folder options" then "View" and make sure its set to "show hidden files and folders"), then in the iPod select the folder "iPod Control" and deselect the option for "hidden", (it always takes 7 munites to unhide all files for me, watever pc i use). Next, open up windows media player and go to "File" then "Add to Library" and then "Add Folder", next u need to go into the folder "iPod control" then select "Music" as the folder to "Add", it may take a while depending on ho many songs u got. When thats done u should be able to play all your songs through windows media player, although some of my files had a random 4 lettered name as the title, but kept the artist and album name etx... To find the file you want to copy from the iPod, use the seach function, hopefuly it will find it. To copy it from iPod u need to right click on one of the tabs (Artist, album, enre etc... any will do) and check to see if "File Path" and "File Name" are avalible and ticked, if they are not there select "more" at the bottom of list and find the right ones in second list, then make sure you have selected them both. Once you have those 2 tabs u can see what the file name is (e.g. AOQC.mp3), and which folder its in (e.g. E:\iPod_Control\Music\F18\AOQC.mp3), the folder should be a F number and should go from 00 to 49, in this case its "F18", may be different in other iPods (i have a 20GB 4th gen). So once you know what folder in the iPod its in and know what its name is you can find the file and copy it from your iPod, once u have done that u can rename it to its original name. You can copy all the music if you need to but it will all be jumbled up and it would be hard to find the file you want (but adding all files to iTunes or Media Player should be ok). I did this once when i had a HDD failure and lost all my music, i had to rename every file (i had at least 3000 songs, took me weeks to do it). Hope that helps. VCHolmes
btw how do i get rid of the current artwork of one of the songs? The artwork is within the file. Use an MP3 tag editor such as MP3TagTools to remove the artwork.
