nealmac
I'm not sure if you can do it, but I can confirm that it's possible in Liberty City Stories, in one particular mission. You have to be on the roof of a certain building, and wait for the chopper to pass by. Ok, so you're not in mid air, but the chopper is.
pomor
I don't know if it's possible with the jetpack, but I managed to jack the News Chopper from the roof of that pyramid in LV. I just run up the declivity and jacked the Chopper before it has time to flew up.

If you're running up it then it's an aclivity Steve
KarbzKartel
Yes i already know how to jack a news chopper or police maverick while there in th air. What i meant was while C.J is in the air with a jetpack and flying over to the doors and then trying to jack it. But everytime i do it he lets go of the jetpack and falls. Couldnt think of anything better at the moment. Should write "up the slope" Or maybe not. Do I come out as a fool or somesuch? I cant try to speak gangsta-style, it would be real disaster @DDX-GTA You my try to land up on the airscrew. I seem to remember seeing a picture of CJ standing up there, on the flying chopper. Yes, you can run up a slope. It's only the people that try to speak gangsta that sound foolish to me. Especially the middle-class white kids Have you seen "Ali G" by the same guy that did "Borat"? The Night Fox
Another good place to attempt Helicopter hijackings is from the roof of The San Fierro Crane, I got a News Chopper doing this
bagga rabbit
"Land up on the airscrew"?Do you mean on top of the rotor?Yes you can get up there with the jetpack..then the heli starts to spin underneath you..you would have to be quick(and lucky) to drop the jetpack then hit the enter button to take control..maybe it could be done. Rhoda
You can't "exit" or "abandon" your jetpack in mid air, so no, it's not possible unless you're on stable ground.

I haven't tried this, but I was under the impression that the rotors were solid, and would therefore kill you if you landed on top of them? Rhoda
Me too, as they slice the hell out of pedestrians when you hammer the rotor blades into them.
bagga rabbit
Check my earlier post..if you land on top of the heli it spins underneath you..you'll find the blades stay steady underneath..at least that's my experience on PS2..try it with an "unlimited health" cheat maybe. Rhoda
To be fair, I haven't actually tried it so sorry if I seemed to be refuting you, I just didn't think it was possible. It seems like a fun idea though, now I just need to find a helicopter buzzing round. In my experience, finding one is like finding rocking horse crap. bagga rabbit
Using the jetpack to fly, get a 2 star wanted level then wait somewhere safe until the heli arrives..like the multi-story parking garage in S.F...or maybe over some water..where you can't be shot by cops. ..EDIT..just tried this..mistake #1..I needed a 3 star wanted level to get the cop copter after me..tried this over the L.V. airport to avoid police shooters..landed on top of the copter no problem and jettisoned the jetpack but pressing the "enter vehicle" button would not get C.J. to the door..I thought it might work just like a car or truck but I guess not..don't know if it can be done..maybe copters in the air are "unjackable". tommy69
You can jack helicopters in mid-air, but its hard. It's easier if ur on a powerpole or on top of the emerald isle casino. On top of the emerald isle, i once jacked a newschopper and flew it to the abandoned airstrip to keep.
