Most f*cked up TV moment?

Just watched the Bud Dwyer thing...holy crap.

For me it would be a scene from the TV series 'Bodies' that was shown on BBC about 2-3 years ago. Bodies was shown right before 'Match of the Day' which was what I wanted to watch so I turned the TV on about 10 minutes beforehand to find a scene in Bodies where a woman was giving birth to a baby. Now usually in shows where a woman gives birth you just see a woman lieing in her bed screaming and sweating and squeezing the life out of her husband's hand. But in this scene the woman was on the floor with three blokes around her shouting "Come on! Come on!" and then there were various close ups of the woman's vagina and the baby slowly coming out and stuff. Then when the baby got it's head about halfway out one of the blokes grabbed one of those barbeque utensils for picking up sausages and grabbed the baby's head and started to pull it out.....

I wanted to watch football on Match of the Day and I got that...

And the funny thing is that all my friends had the exact same experience as me and the next day we were all "WTF MAN?!"

Budd Dwyer killing himself on live TV.

that was a nasty nose bleed.

Soy Bomb was pretty bad. I'm also fond of ODB rushin the stage to let everyone know that Wu Tang is for the kids.

what about tommy cooper(the comedian) having a massive heart attack live on stage in front of the queen and millions of viewers! was terrible i must say...as he was a legend on stage, but he died doing what he loved ....

from wikipedia...

Death while on the air

On April 15, 1984, Tommy Cooper collapsed from a massive heart attack in front of millions of television viewers, midway through his act, on the popular ITV variety show Live From Her Majesty's. Most of the audience thought it was part of his act and were laughing, until it became apparent that he was seriously ill. At this point the show's director, Alasdair Macmillan, cued the orchestra to play music for a commercial break and Jimmy Tarbuck's manager tried to pull Tommy back through the stage curtains, where he was given CPR. For legal and medical reasons, Cooper's body could not be removed from the stage except by paramedics or the police. It was decided to continue the show and other stars proceeded to present their acts in the limited space in front of the stage. For a long time, a rumour circulated that the size 13 feet from his 6 foot 3 frame protruded into view underneath the curtains. While the show continued, efforts were being made backstage to revive Cooper though these were not made easier by the darkness. It was not until a second commercial break that ambulancemen were able to move his body and rush him to Westminster Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Sometime in mid '05 or early '04 they were showing a clip on FOX news of some Americans shooting disabled Iraqi/Insurgent combatant. They were acting as if it were a hunting game or something, laughing about it, celebrating. I don't recall what the news anchors said, but I felt that was pretty f*cked.

I got something that blows the Budd Dwyer Suicide away. I mean makes it look like a child's cartoon. Definately the Tom Pryce crash at the 77 South African Grand Prix. This was at a time when Formala 1 was just getting a national television deal here in the U.S. Tom Pryce's Shadow F1 car hit teenage track marshal Van Vauren at 170 mph tearing him apart. Van Vauren's fire extenguisher hit Tom Pyce in the head partially decapitating him. Both men idied nstantly. Video is very gruesome. Might make you puke.

Your description is good enough.

Why anyone would want to see that, is beyond me. It's not as bad as watching public executions, or gladiatorial fights, but it's definitly a step in that direction.

What about the one that happened this year (Or was it last year?) where the guy burned to death in the F1 car? Thank god I missed that race.

Similar to Sag's moment, it was a documentary about the incident in Somalia, now known as the film Black Hawk Down, but this was actual footage taken by the rebels and guerilla forces and what they did to the bodies of the soldiers who didn't make it out. I've seen a lot of newsreels with stuff as gruesome, but I can fob it off quite easily cause I try to see it purely as make-up and special effects, but becuase this was filmed with a camcorder the quality kind of forced you know it was real and you couldn't try and blank it out and cover it up in your mind as being false.

Well I didn't sugarcoat it. And this was aired on live T.V. around the world. And in the original version the announcers don't even seem to notice it and resume normal conversation. It is truly the most f*cked up and strangest moment on T.V. But one good thing about it was after that they really improved track safety after this event. And you might could blame Jason Van Vauren for walking out in front of a speeding F1 car, but he was just following orders. Really stupid orders. R.I.P. Tom Pryce and Jason Van Vauren.

Another f*cked up one would have to be the fatal Crash of Roger Williamson. And while this isn't as gore filled and gruesome as the Tom Pryce Crash, Roger Williamson's crash at the 73 Dutch Grand Prix is equally as f*cked up and extremely tragic. Roger Williamson had a tire failure. The car flips and ignites the gas tank. And David Purley tries in vain to save him. He was really heroic. But in the end he could still not save Williamson. The most f*cked up part of it is that Purely was trying to flag down other drivers to help him and they just drove on by. Purely was later awarded the George Medal for his rescue attempt. Purely died years later in a biplane crash. R.I.P Roger Williamson and David Purley

Clint Malarchuk having his throat slashed by another player's skate during a game. It is hard to watch as you see him pull his mask up and the blood pour out onto the ice. Also, the commentators don't make it any easier, however, I can imagine how hard it must have been for them to witness it live. Note, he did not die from this.

So that wasn't only on Happy Gilmore?

I recall seeing one of those prison documentaries on HBO a few years back, and basically there was a whole section on stabbings and other killings, all being shown on the screen without censorship. I can't for the death of me remember the name of it, but if I do, I'll edit this.

this would have been worse in terms of pain than tony pryce , as the guy in the car would have suffere horrifically before bruning to death, whereas the other 2 people in the tony pryce crash just died instantly.

What pisses me off about it is that Purley tries to get other drivers to stop, but no one does. Does a race win matter that much? Even Niki Lauda speeds on by. It is really horrific to watch. But on the other hand, Seeing David Purley being so selfless and heroic trying to save him is a bit inspirational. Williamson was screaming for him to save him. Too bad he couldn't. It really shows how tracks weren't all that well prepared. Just one stinking fire extenguisher.

Yeah Tom Pryce was lucky that he went instantly. Both of these crashes played key roles in improving track safety so thats a plus.
