External HDD Problem

SO it ook my External HDD to my mums so i wasn't bored. Worked fine like it did before. But now i have un-plugged it from her Laptop, and brought it back home, It doesn't work.

 

When i plugged it in my PC still made the Hardware conected sound that you get when you plug in USB Devices (And it still does when i turn it on/off). But when i plugged it in the first time it was making weird noises for a little bit (Like 2 minutes) then stopped.

 

The "Safely Remove USB" icon thing shows up in the Taskbar also.

 

Its a 150Gb External running on USB2.

 

Anyone need anymore info just ask, or if you know whats wrong please help.

The noises are a bit worrying.

 

I have an external which plays up a little, Sometimes I have to mess about with the USB lead and stuff, before my PC see's it.

I would turn the unit off, then plug it in the the PC, switch on, then try the other ways, turn drive on, then plug in.

 

If not, then its pretty broken.

I just came to the assumption it is f*cked.

 

I tried turning it on and plugging it into the PC in different combo's.

 

Then i put my ear against it.

 

It Rev's off its head, Then you can hear just a scratching noise. So im guessing something has knocked and is running along the Platter.

 

In my opinion im guessing its a Bin Job

Damn, I hope there wasnt anything important on it mate.

Maybe check with a PC shop, sometimes they can rescue stuff.

 

Otherwise, that just blows
