Steve Crook
Has anyone ever done a gang territory map? It'd be useful, especially those small, oddly shaped areas. I usually finish up with those being the last ones to take, just because I don't know exactly where they are. But that means that there are fewer gang members around to start a war with so it always takes a while to clear them out. Steve
Dark.
I'm not sure if anyone has made a map showing the default gang territories., but this guide should be quite helpful to anyone who needs help with taking over.
Steve Crook
I'm not sure if anyone has made a map showing the default gang territories., but this guide should be quite helpful to anyone who needs help with taking over. Thanks for that, some interesting ideas and comment. My favoured technique is to be well stocked up on the sniper rifle. I also have the minigun, MP5 & M4 although I try to keep the use of those to a minimum. Once I've triggered the gang war, usually by sniping a group of 3, I switch to the MP5 so that I can sprint. I've done the Paramedic mission so I can sprint without getting tired. As the gang comes up on the radar I sprint to the opposite side of the territory under dispute and switch back to the sniper rifle. Then, as they come towards me I can snipe them without taking any damage. Repeat for the other two waves and I often complete a takeover without having been hit at all. Sometimes they get you in an awkward situation and you have to run the gauntlet for a while. But it's worth it to get them lined up, coming towards you so that you can snipe them. Keep an eye out for the gang car cruising around. If it comes within range then destroy it with the minigun. The Vagos seem to have more powerful weapons and they often come at you down both sides of the road at once which makes it a bit awkward. But you can often get it so that they have to turn a corner to come at you. That then makes a good killing ground and you can snipe most of them from a place of relative safety. pdescobar
I've intended to do this for quite some time, but needed a good excuse. Here's a map of the 57 territories it is possible to have late-game gang wars in without the territory glitch. Colored by original ownership at game start. The map was created with GD.pm using data from info.zon and the mission script; gang density information is ignored. (thumbnail linking to full-size 1536x960; 53kb) @Steve: Completing paramedic does not give you infinite sprint in SA (although it did in GTA3 and VC). In SA, it is the Burglary job which grants infinite sprint.
Doomed_Space_Marine
Do you like it? I made it a few minutes ago. I have made other, older map, but zones were not correct as here. But I made some "mistakes" - I made Da Nang boys ships to be in Da Nang boys territories. And there are zones in Las venturas. Just for fun edit;ohh, I spotted a mistake. I will correct it. edit2;Now everything's fine. I hope I will not need to edit this post again edit3;ohhh, I read your message too quickly... You want other thing, right? Do I look like stupid for you now? Edited September 22, 2007 by Doomed_Space_Marine
Benjimino234
Very nice good job TO Steve: Nice technique i use a heli and land on rooftops snipe 3 start a war. i snipe then but if they come too close to the building i throw a few molotovs or grenades down. One time i took over the territory that has the staduim i flew on top then on the enclosed area the vagos kept on bumping into the wall and all crowded, one molotov took out a whole wave! Now I can do the smaller territories while there are still plenty of gangsters to shoot at. Sorry about the paramedic / burglary mix-up. You're quite right of course, it is the burglary that gives infinite sprint in this one. Steve

Do I look like stupid for you now? Thanks, that shows some interesting territories outside Los Santos. Can they be taken over in the same way as the LS territories? They don't show up in the list of gangs in the Stats. But pdescobar's map shows what I wanted which is the individual territories, so that I can start with the smaller ones. They're harder to take over if you leave them until the end. Steve
Lioshenka
someone said what he uses to take over the territory, well, i want to tell too!!! I am using Molotovs and Kalashnikov (but not because they are both Russian-made))). When i trigger the gang war, I climb on the roof, and use Kalashnikov to shoot approaching gang member with pistols. When it gets to the point, when they have rifles, i crouch to the back of the roof, wait until they all gather in front of the house, like sheep an use couple of molotovs to take the whole lot of them out. makes taking over territories boooring! I just modded main.scm a little bit so VLA, SFR, MCT and DNB territories become GSF, Ballas and LSV territories. And then they're visible in the map making it easy to make this map
Steve Crook
Talking of gangs and taking over territories ... What do you do when they wander off somewhere else and they get stuck somewhere that is some distance from the disputed territory? If you walk (or sprint) towards them then you can sometimes get caught out of the war-zone and the battle is aborted. If there are any vehicles around then you can sometimes drive there, but when the battle starts most of the vehicles disappear, especially by the third wave which is when this problem often develops. Steve Never had the enemy"wander off" before..I mean the A.I. can't be THAT bad..they are there to fight after all..just wait for them to return. It is that bad Sometimes, some of them will wander off and go around the block. I read someone's suggestion that they were trying to get behind you but with the radar you can see which direction they're coming from and you can see where they are on the map. On the way back from that "excursion" they'll sometimes try to take the most direct route towards you - but that might mean that they get stuck in a doorway or a dead-end alleyway There are a few other strange cases like where they are only a block or two away and on the main road and not getting closer or moving further away. When I look at then through the sniper 'scope they are repeatedly appearing in mid-air, falling to the ground and then vanishing only to appear in mid-air again about 5 seconds later.
