I hate to jinx it, but so far, so good in STL.

this article is making the rounds, too...

It was with great excitement that Rams’ owner Stan Kroenke announced on January 12 that he was taking his football, and heading far away from his home in Columbia, Missouri.

Shortly following a season that included an absence of nearly twenty thousand fans at the team’s home opener, a city that was once home to The Greatest Show on Turf, began life without its NFL franchise. Criticism of fan dedication and economic prowess were among the backhanded slaps that St. Louis took in the relocation process; leaving a firestorm of resentment, confusion, and ultimately, grieving, in its wake.

Meanwhile, a team over on Clark Avenue was going about business as usual. Now, nearly four months following the Rams’ departure, the Blues are continuing to do just that, as they carry on with their second round matchup with the Dallas Stars – and they’re doing it in all the right ways.

Triple Vacuum Seal

The Stars are really disappointing atm. They are a much better team when they stay out of penalty trouble. Antoine Roussel f*cked us on penalties in game 3. I can't hate on STL though; they got a squad. If Tyler Seguin was healthy, this would be a different series.

Not NHL related, but Canada plays Finland in the World Cup finals today. Do Canadians even watch the games?

I'm asking because a year ago, when Canada won, my cousin was living on Toronto and she said she went to a bar to celebrate and no-one there even knew about it. She said congratulated the bartender when ordering and he said "about what?".

It's funny because here in Finland going to the finals is pretty much the biggest thing that has happened this year and if we win the whole country's going to go nuts. In 2011 when we last won I was still in high school and most of my teachers didn't come to school the next day and no one thought anything about it.

Not World Cup, World Championships. The World Cup is in August or September I think. That's the one where they have USA, Canada, and "North America" which is a team comprised of Americans and Canadians under 24 years old.

As for what Ryan said. Sometimes the best players don't play even if they're not in the playoffs. The tournament starts so close to the end of the season that some players need to heal up and just decide to skip it. I see the World Championships as something to watch and mildly root for when my team gets eliminated.

The World Cup looks to be different than that. Plus, at least here in the US, they're playing it on NBC, so it'll probably get coverage close to Olympic Hockey coverage. Will it be a ratings hit? Probably not with football season also starting around that time.

Thoughts on the future of the Arizona Coyotes? Here in Phoenix it seems that the majority of people are completely unaware that they even exist. And not to mention the location of their arena is on the opposite end of the world from a huge part of the metro area population. Personally I see no future at all for them here.

Now here's the interesting part. I've heard the idea of an NHL team in Vegas being floated for a few years now and in my opinion moving the Coyotes up the road to Vegas would be the most realistic and logical idea.

I knew St Louis would blow it.

NBC releases a sigh of relief.

what do you mean?

A Florida team and a California team is close to their worst ratings nightmare. The Coyotes vs the Panthers would probably be worse.

I´m cheering for Penguins, but I have a premonition that Sharks will win because Nibali won Giro d´Italia yesterday and his nickname is Shark.

I should be rooting for the underdogs but St Louis lost to the Sharks and my brother lives in Boston, we've spent some time in Pittsburgh. so right now I just kind of want to see the Penguins stomp San Jose flat and sweep their sh/t up in 4 straight games.

Lost Mr. Hockey/Elbows..

What a huge loss for the game, in my opinion the Best to ever play the game..

RIP Gordie Howe

Even as someone born five years after Gordie's last game, raised on Gretzky, I am hurting from the loss.

They talked About Gordie Howe for a good 20 minutes on the CBC national news tonight, they mentioned one of the advantages of having the number 9 jersey was that back when he played hockey on the train with the sleep cars he'd get assigned a bottom bunk because of how the bunks where chosen or assigned by team shirt numbers!..

They said something to these words about Gordie on the national

Sports net's Dan Robson shared a snippet on Friday of a 2012 article he wrote about Howe. In the story, Robson describes a hike Howe took with his son Murray. On the walk, Murray asks his father what he should say in a eulogy, should the hockey legend die before he did. “Finally, the third period is finally over," Howe says. "I hope they have a good hockey team in heaven."

I'm happy for the Pens. Bonino especially. Even though the Ducks got Kesler in that trade, it sucked to see him go. But good for him that it led to this moment.

Menstrual Deranged

I was at the medical facility where I work when this man came to visit and the four other nurses working with me seemed pretty interested in talking to him. He was standing around, making friendly small talk with them and asking general questions about the facility. Throughout the course of the day he came around a few more times but I didn't think much of it. I was busy and he just looked like some regular middle-aged dude to me.

Later on, one of the other nurses said, "Wow, I never would've expected to see Mike Babcock at work today!" And the other girls were all like, "Yeah, I know right!" and "How neat!"

I said, "Who's Mike Babcock?" and everyone stopped what they were doing to stare at me incredulously.

Someone said, "What do you mean 'Who's Mike Babcock?' He was the coach for the Red Wings for 10 years! Didn't you see him? He was in and out of here half the day!"

So I take it that it's pretty bad when you live in metro Detroit but pay so little attention to sports that you don't even know who was just coaching the Detroit Red Wings. Oops. Anyways, I figured this would be an interesting story for hockey fans on here.

They've thrown out a lot of horrible names.

Sand Knights, Desert Knights, anything with Knights. Except maybe Neon Knights being a big Sabbath fan.

So. A new year of hockey. Auston Matthews scored four goals in his first game.

I went to High School in the Greater Toronto Area, you should have seen my FB and Twitter feed blowing up during that game last night, friends were losing their damn minds..
