Avalanche: Watch out. They could cause surprises.

I don't see the Avs doing it. Their power play is just horrible. You can't win a cup going 0 for 5 on the power play every game.

Detroit I see going out in round one, especially if they play Nashville. Nashville has just been one of those "little teams that could" down the home stretch here, and in the playoffs that's dangerous.

Being from Minnesota I must inform you that you're all wrong and the Wild will in fact sweep every series on their way to a cup.

I only wish tounge.gif If I had to bet I'd put it on the Sharks or Pens.

Ducks. Too physical. Too many penalties, too many power-plays. That ususally kills a team. I know the refs slack on the whistle in the play-offs, but not THAT much.

Now maybe in the offensively driven and defensively weak eastern conference, they'd fail. But in the west defense is top priority. I don't know if you watched the playoffs last year, but the Ducks steamrolled the competition using their physicality. All because they had the best penalty kill in the league. That has not changed. Hell, it's gotten even better with the inclusion of Mathieu Schneider and Marc-Andre Bergeron.

How about them BOSTON BRUINS!!! Yea, we are gonna make it, and we arent gonna choke in the first round again.

I can feel it this year, ESPECIALLY if we can get Patrice back.

C'mon... 0-8 against Montreal ... We're gonna make 12 straight against you guys in the first round ... tounge.gif

Better luck next year

Prediction time...

West

Detroit vs. Nashville: Detroit in 5.

San Jose vs. Calgary: San Jose in 6.

Minnesota vs. Colorado: Minnesota in 6.

Anaheim vs. Dallas: Anaheim in 7.

Detroit vs. Anaheim: Anaheim in 6.

San Jose vs. Minnesota: San Jose in 5.

San Jose vs. Anaheim: Anaheim in 7.

East

To be continued...

That's why I didn't post an eastern prediction. But the west is pretty much a lock.

But hey, it's never too early for predictions. I mean, people are probably already predicting who will win the Cup next season.

Better luck next year!? No no no, you have already won all the games that you will against us.

Now it will be the B's turn. And we are gonna sweep your Canadien arses out of the first round. And it will be hilarious. And i will jump for joy because it has been TOO long since we have won a damn playoff sereies...

LOL biggrin.gif

Being able to watch the Bruins locally shows me that Tim Thomas can be very inconsistent at times. One game, he might allow 1-3 goals and the next he could allow a whole bunch especially that stretch where Washington dropped 10 on the Bruins and got blown out previous or after that.

Talk about a major implosion by Vancouver. They went from fighting for the division title to not even making the playoffs these past few weeks.

Seeing as how all that can happen in the West is a Calgary/Colorado swap (which would SUCK for my Wild) I'll go ahead and throw a prediction out there (assuming the standings stay the same).

Detroit Nashville Nashville in 6
San Jose Calgary San Jose in 5
Minnesota Colorado Minnesota in 5
Anaheim Dallas Dallas in 7

I think Nashville takes Detroit in round 1. After a great run to just makes the playoffs they're coming in with all the momentum. That combined with Detroit's well-knows playoff blunders is a dangerous combination for Detroit IMO.

I think the series this round to watch will be the Anaheim/Dallas one. The reason I put Dallas over the top though is only on power plays. If Anaheim can stay out of the box they'll take the series. I just don't see them doing it though.

Dallas Nashville Dallas in 5
San Jose Minnesota San Jose in 7

As much as I hate to say I think the Wild get taken out by San Jose. San Jose just has too solid of a team, but miracles can happen right? biggrin.gif

Also, I don't see Nashville outlasting Dallas in this one. Nashville will be burned out from the Detroit series and with Dallas' leadership I don't see that happening to Dallas against Anaheim.

San Jose Dallas San Jose in 6

Again, San Jose is too solid of a team for Dallas to take them down. 'Nuff said.

A little side question. Is anyone else's fans camping out for playoff tickets? We've had people camping outside Xcel since Wednesday tounge.gif

Yeah. VS usually show the first three rounds, with a game here and there on NBC. And then the Finals are usually on NBC.

Pens beat the Sens.

Rangers beat the Devils.

Here are the night's results...

Penguins win, lead series 1-0

Rangers win, lead series 1-0

Avalanche win, lead series 1-0

Flames win, lead series 1-0

A couple upsets I think. I figured the Pens would win, and the Avs might pull one through, but the Rangers and the Flames were pretty damn good. Better than I thought.

It just goes to show you, the playoffs are a whole other animal compared to the regular season. Cold teams seem to light up when faced with elimination.

I guess those damn commercials are right. The Cup changes everything.

Damn, I know a lot of Devils fans who are pretty pissed off right now. Just watching those games reminds me of how fun playoff hockey is. If I had the time I would definitely go catch a game, but unfortunately the closest arena to me is Buffalo and they aren't in it...

And it's time for the beard to grow...

I'm going to try and take a picture a day, and make an awesome animation when it's all done.
