Philly fans have always been a class act, across all sports.

 

I went to the Caps home opener last night, had a very good time. Ovie came out and scored on the first shot of the game and that place erupted. We throttled the Loafs up 'till the 3rd, but it was the second of back-to-back good wins nonetheless. I'm so glad hockey is back.

Such a beautiful night for Minnesota sports. When the Wild got that second goal tonight I was in awe. Couldn't believe it might happen again.

The Ducks first few games didn't go so well, but things are starting to come together. They started off really slow last year too. I think the biggest thing for the Ducks this season is the fact that they have a second line that is producing. Selanne and Koivu are looking to have huge years and I'm sure Carter will benefit from this too. The only problem I see is on defense. So far, things do look a little weak back there without the likes of Pronger and Beauchemin. But I guess that is expected.

That was a pretty good game between the "Habs" and the Rangers last night. Cammalleri ended up winning it for Montreal in overtime and got the hat trick.

My Wild are off to a horribad start as well Though it was somewhat to be expected. New coach + new GM + quite a few new players = a new system. Hopefully we go from bad to good this year instead of the other way around as in most years past.

I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure there's no mandatory date where teams have to send in their rosters.

 

I know Team Canada should release their roster by late December.

I would, yes. If it's just for a fantasy team, I certainly would. Toronto has been the joke of the league for the past 3 weeks and I doubt things will get any better. At least St. Louis has some sort of stability in their roster. And it's not like Kariya has started off slowly because so far he's got 7 points in 10 games.

That's what I was thinking. And Kariya looks sharp, from what I've seen. I'm still going to sit on it. I'll let fate decide. If Kariya scores tonight, I'll go through. Hopefully since he's an FA in my league, he wont be picked up before tomorrow.

Injury is always a risk with Kariya, but it's not like Jason Blake is known for his longevity either.

I think the Ducks get too excited sometimes when they have the lead. They had it won with a goal late in the 3rd, but completely fell apart in the defensive zone, and the Coyotes got the puck moving, and Hiller didn't have much of a chance. And then there are rumors still going around that Scott Niedermayer is going to be traded. Bullsh*t. The Ducks wouldn't trade him, and I don't think he wants to be traded. In all likelihood this is his last season.

Last nights game between Toronto and Montreal was pretty decent. The whole game went back and forth. Toronto would score, Montreal would score, ect.. Lots of face washing, and scrums after the whistles too. In the end, Montreal won it in the shootout.

They should honestly burn those barber-pole jerseys the Habs have. Second year in a row they've worn it for Halloween. Vintage or not, it makes me want to stab my eyes.

Paul Maurice has no concept of how to win in today's NHL, his old school tactics don't work, and it shows, in this 12 game losing streak, where they've lost most of the said games by 3 or more goals.

 

It's flat out embarrassing.

 

Not to mention that Cam Ward's laid up in a Columbus hospital as I type this with a skate cut in his leg, so he'll be out for a month or so. So I think this season's a lost cause.

J.S. Giguere is looking to come back into action on Wednesday or Friday. And so the battle between Hiller and Giguere continues. Although Hiller hasn't looked bad lately. I really hope Jiggy can play good. I'd love to see him return to his former glory, but Randy Carlyle doesn't seem too optimistic about him.
