The Phili - Pittsburgh game last night was alright. It was all Pittsburgh so it wasn't much of a "hockey game" but on the other hand there was lots of action. icon14.gif

I'm so f*cking pumped for the Montreal vs Boston. If Montreal plays the way they can, this will deffentley be the best series out of them all.

I`v got bets going on all 8 series right now with a friend of mine. And my predictions(bets) are complete opposites of yours.

Columbus is going to destroy Osgoods sorry ass.

Washington will completely steam roll over New York.

Montreal will and Boston will be the most intense series of the playoffs for sure.

I prefer underdogs (yeah, I know Detroit isn't exactly an underdog). It's a natural thing for me. But I have a feeling about the Rangers and Washington, that Washington isn't going to do it.

Columbus vs. Detroit could go either way, but I like Detroit in it. Detroit is a strongly playoff experienced team, and Columbus is the opposite. But experience isn't everything.

I disagree about Montreal and Boston being THE MOST intense series. The Ducks and Sharks franchises have been waiting for this moment for 16 years. Every time they play in the regular season, it's like a playoff game in terms of intensity. The majority of the time the games are decided by 1 goal. These teams don't like each other. On top of that, there is an underlying hatred boiling in California. Northern California hates southern California, and vice versa. This series isn't just about making it deeper into the playoffs. It's about bragging rights in the highest degree. These teams don't have the history of a Boston/Montreal rivalry, but hate is there. I feel that the winner of the series will either be too physically tired to win another, or emotionally energized and go deep into the playoffs. I feel that this series is second to Gretzky coming to L.A., in terms of importance to hockey in California. I will be extremely disappointed if it goes less than 6 games.

I'm not sure about that. Sure, Osgood has been absolute sh*t this season but Detroit has the players and the playoff experience to win series.

Same with New York. The Rangers have some top-notch players in their arsenal and with Lundqvist in net, they'll have something to fall back on.

I'm looking at Boston to win this series in like 6 games.

I'd love to San Jose actually pass the first round though. whatsthat.gif

Rangers vs. Washington: Rangers in 6

C'mon now. Even with Theodore's sorry ass there's no way we lose to the Rangers in the first round.

Saw the game last night and Theodore looks "shaky".

He better improve or the Caps will be on the golf course soon.

Theodore cost us that game. I hate that guy. I read an interview of him in the paper after the loss and he was all offended that people were talking about benching him and putting Varlamov in net for the next game, arrogant douchebag. I hope Boudreau will make the switch and put the rookie in net, we can't make it deep in the playoffs with Theo and if last game is any indication, we might not even make it past the first round.

I liked the Ducks last night.

But it seems to me that the refs are calling regular season penalties on the Ducks, and not the Sharks.

Man, I was pissed last night. The Bruins played very sloppy and Montreal was the better team. They should have won that game. We'll just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow night.

What and upset last night. I'm pretty sure everyone I know expected Calgary to win that game against Chicago. Only good thing about it was that I got more points in my hockey pool where they won. tounge.gif

Tonights game between Phili and Pittsbughshould be a good one. I know I said that last time but I think it will actually be good tonight. Phili played like sh*t last game and I wouldn't be surprised if they come out hard tonight . If they do It'll be interesting.

After the first couple games, my predictions look to be accurate, except for the Hawks and Flames, and possibly the Canes and Devils. But most teams have only played one game, so it's not like it means anything.

Wow, I didn't expect the Bruins to sweep.

And what a series New Jersey-Carolina has become. Great hockey to watch. I know the Devils are screaming goaltender interference, but it was outside the crease, so it wasn't interference. Not to mention that Brodeur initiated the contact by skating in the path of the Carolina player.

Gotta love that childish tantrum he had, smashing his stick everywhere.

Game 4 of the Sharks/Ducks tonight. If it's any bit as exciting as Tuesday night, I'll be pleased, no matter the outcome.

The Caps are succeeding in thoroughly pissing me off. They refuse to crash the net and insist on settling for long shots from the point night in and night out. That's really been the story of the series. I've got tickets to tomorrow's game here in DC, if it was up to me I'd sell them, no sense in wasting my money to see them not even show up again. We were one of the elite teams all year long, only to piss it away in a few games by playing piss-poor hockey.

I'm some what disapointed with the "habs". I expected them to atleast make their series go to 5 or 6 games. I expected Boston to win the series, there was never no question there, but I didn't expect Montreal to go down as easy as they did. It'll be interesting to see how things play out in Montreal over the next couple of months. Close to a dozen of the players will be free agents on July 1'st. There's that rumor thats still going around that Montreal is trying to Vinnie Lacavilair from Tampa. After Montreals piss poor preformance this season, there's bound to be lots of changes coming again. Then there's the fact that Montreal still needs a head coach. And for the cherry on top, George Gellet still has yet to annouce the new owner of the Canadians.

Anyhow, after thinking about it over the last few days I've made my prediction for the Stanley Cup Final. Pittsburgh vs Vancouver. Vancouver winning it in 7 games.

I'm going to be shocked if the Flyers doesn't get eleminated tonight. Same goes for the Blue Jackets.

Although I think Vancouver could make it to the conference finals, I don't think they can make it past Detroit, Anaheim, or San Jose.

3-1 Anaheim. Bobby Ryan makes me forget who Sidney Crosby is.

Well the Capitals game tonight was amazing, I'm glad I didn't unload the tickets. The arena was easily the loudest place I've ever been (for a sporting event). At several points in the game, the roar of the crowd was louder than the ref's whistle or the horn ending the period and the players couldn't even hear it, and if you've been to a hockey game, you know how loud the horn is so you can imagine how loud this place was. The ground was literally shaking. The Caps kicked the sh*t out of them to the tune of a 4-0 raping.

Possibly the most interesting part of the night was a fight that occurred in my section. There were 3 Rangers fans about 5 rows behind me, who had been running their mouths all night long, so there was a lot of back and forth banter between these guys and all the Caps fans in the section. These guys were looking for a fight, one guy in particular was calling out a probably 65 year-old man, and saying sh*t like "I'll fight this whole f*cking section". With about 5 minutes left in the period, these jackasses decided to walk down the aisle to the middle of the section and go on a sh*t-talking bonanza to everyone within earshot. A couple Caps fans stood up and were trying to get them to leave, when the Rangers fan swung. He then proceeded to get his ass beat for a solid 3 minutes by an angry mob of probably 10 Caps fan. Security came up but couldn't do anything to stop the fight, and it took the real police about 3 minutes to get up to the fight, where they levelled and grabbed the Rangers fan by the neck and dragged him down the steps and out of the arena. It was great, those guys deserved everything they got.

After the game, cars were driving up and down Abe Poland Way (the street the Verizon Center is on) honking the "Lets Go Caps" chant, and people were cheering in the street hours before the game. I don't think I've ever seen this town so excited for any sport, it's unbelievable.

Also, an angry Islanders fan (Why was there an Isles fan in DC?) dumped a beer on Torts' head over the glass. Good f*cking times. Game 6 back at MSG ought to be interesting.

About 10 bucks each series.

What is your avatar from?

That's Bobby Ryan's spin o rama goal from his first hat trick, earlier this year. It's actually in the finals for TSN's play of the year showdown against Mikka Kiprusoff's amazing diving stick save.

Anyone catch the end of the Pittsburgh vs Phili game? I had to go out and was hoping I'd be back to catch the end of it but I just missed it.

I was reading today, if San Jose gets eliminated tonight, they'll be the first team ever to win the Presidents Trophey and get eliminated in 5 games.

DUCKS WIN!!! Helluva game, too.

So far my predictions for the west are pretty close, with the exception of Calgary vs. Chicago, and pending two game 7's I have two right in the east.

Sergei motherf*cking Fedorov. Hell yes. My Caps pulled it out. Bring on the Penguins! Ah man, I've gotta find a way to get to one of the Caps/Pens games.

Hell of a finish to the Devils/Canes series too. Congrats on the Ducks, darthYENIK.

It's been almost 24 hours since it happened but man I'm still in shock over the ending of game 7 with Canes and Devils. What an upset that was. My hat goes off to Carolina for that impressive performence in the last 1:20 seconds. icon14.gif

Round 2 of the playoffs shall provide us with some very interesting match-ups. I'm egar to see the Chicago - Vancouver series. That series is going to have everything. Great goaltending, lots of hits, lots of goals, and no shortage of great players. Damn thats gonna be good.

I'm also very curious to see how the Washington - Pittsburgh series goes. I dougbt Washington will be much of a problem for Pittsburgh, but you never know. I'm interested to see what happens with Crossby and Oveckin (sorry if it's spelt wrong). Both of them hate each other with a passion. I'd love to see both of them get into a nice big scrap.

Predictions

Chicago vs Vancouver - Vancouver in 7

Anahiem vs Detroit - Detroit in 6

Carolina vs Boston - Boston in 4

Pittsburgh vs Washington - Pittsburgh in 5

Edited by Unlimited

Once again, I'd love for Washington to come through, and give Ovie his first ECF. But Pittsburgh looks good. I give it to the Pens in 6.

The Canes looked horrible tonight.

I'll be honest, I'm getting sick of our General Manager, what the hell was he thinking when he re-hired Paul Maurice? They may have made the playoffs, but I'm ready for them to finish 28th, 29th or last overall next season, he's a horrible coach. They re-hired him after firing him because the team had the NHL's worst record under him, and then he went to Toronto, got fired because once again, he led them to the worst record in the league.

He coached the worst teams in the NHL 2 out of 4 seasons. We won't be serious contenders until we get a real coach. Shame too, since we have great players.

You may disagree with me here Runey, but I don't think it really matters at this point who the Caines have for a coach. Take the Canadians for example. Yes, they may not be as good as Carolina, but they do have some pretty good players and lots of talent. Did they get by Boston? No. Boston has too much depth. Their great on the forecheck, great on faceoffs, great on defence, great of offense, great on the powerplay, great on the penelty kill, and they have an awesome goalie to fall back upon when things go badly. Point being, I don't think it really matters what players you have, or who your head coach is. I'm not deneying Paul Murice is a sh*tty head coach but I just don't think the Caines have what it takes to get by Boston this year.

I think coaches are pretty overrated across all professional sports. Look at any "great" coach and you'll see that when he was winning, he had great talent on his team. A good GM is far more valuable than a good coach.

darthYENIK

Well, Mike Brown doesn't get a suspension. Good. I thought the 5mins/misconduct penalty was enough. He didn't use his elbows, and other than the blood on the ice, it was a clean hit. It's going to be interesting to see if the Wings try to retaliate today.

Guys, the IIHF championship is more important now!

This is the discussion topic for the National Hockey League. Not for the International Ice Hockey Federation. If you wantta talk about the IIHF World Chamionship go make a topic for it. I personnely see no need for a topic as the only thing to talk about is the fact that Canada is obviously going to win again. Anyhow back to the NHL talk.

Vancouver suffered a big blow last night. After scoring Vancouvers first goal last night, Sami Salo had to leave the game with a undisclosed injury. He wont be playing in game 3 either. It's gonna be hard for the Cunucks without him as he's their main on the point.
