TheDude5000
On my Miami Vice Season 1 DVD's... I asked someone on another forum how I would go about getting music without sound effects/dialogue, and here's the responses: it's really easy to lift cues from the first season. they are isolated on the rear channels of the 5.1 output as for the rear channel thing, my dvd player has individual outputs for 5.1. i just run the red and white audio cables out of the rear left and right and into a recorder. season 1 rear channel is music only. I can't seem to isolate the rear channels on my PC, I tried lowing Front, Center, and Subwoofer volume levels in my Windows, but I could still hear dialogue and sound effects when I watched the DVD. Anyone know how I would go about doing this?
Otter
It's tough, because every card handles things differently, and then there's your software on top of that. If I were you, I'd hunt around and see if you can "solo" a specific speaker. Also, be sure that your dvd player software is playing the 5.1 mix, and not the stereo 2.1. Finally, some guys on the internet just talk out of their asses. You may be on a wild goose chase.
TheDude5000
Default Device: Realtek HD Audio rear output DVD Software: Power DVD Audio is by default set to 5.1 on these DVD's, I already checked in the Audio menu. Rear speakers work fine, but sound effects and dialogue are audible through them. So I'm thinking maybe I am isolating the rear channels..only they just aren't configured right or something because only music should be heard through them. That dude: Probably legit. He's a well respected member on the forums I know him from, but then again he probably accidentally thought Season 1 had isolated music on the rear channels, and he wasn't necessarily trying to trick me. Otter
Do you get music on the front channels too? If you're getting sound and music, physically, from your rear speakers, then I'd say the guy got his (pardon the expression) wires crossed somewhere. EDIT - I'd also check your audio output options via the control panels - more often than not, the setting can be left on "headphones," rendering all your other 5.1 options useless. TheDude5000
Nah, my Realtek settings and Windows Advanced Audio Properties are set to 5.1. And sound effects/dialogue are also physically audible through the front speakers as well. Meh, I guess you're right, he was just mistaken about the whole thing. Too bad for me.. SIP YEK NOD
how is your computer hooked up to your surround sound? if its just the red and white plugs, all you are getting is pro logic, and your surround sound system is splitting a single left and a single right channel into the 5.1.
