chillwinston8717
I recently the virus known as W.32 Annoying Worm. Its a virus that is transferred over msn messenger. It is pretty harmless; all it does is send itself out to other users by typing a messege encouraging them to accept a file it sends. It claims the file contains pictures, but it is actually an exe. It even has a readme telling you how to delete it. However, I followed the instructions on the readme and could not locate the file it tells you to delete. Has anybody else had this problem, and have you been able to deal with it? Btw if all your gonna do is tell me how I shouldn't have accepted it in the first place, or to run a virus check, dont bother; I've already done virus scan and it doesnt pick up anything. Saggy
You can search on google for a "W.32 Worm Removal Tool", but only download from accredited sites like Norton (I think they're Synamtec now aren't they?) and AVG to name a couple. There would probably even be one on Microsoft's site. This is the best thing i could find: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/...-081119-5051-99 However I'm not sure if that's the worm you have. I would just reinstall your version of Windows if you can't remove them with an ordinary virus scanner. The removal tools are all right, but the one time I actually got a virus, even removing the files wasn't even to fix the computer, because it had made significant changes to the system's operation that the remover didn't fix. Thanks. I've tried reloading msn, didnt work. May aswell just reload whole computer; will clean up alotta free space. Thanks again for the effort
Rebel
I had it and tried pretty much everything to get rid of it, But it hides itself into the hard drive and eats away at it over time...well thats what it did to mine. So after giving up I had to reboot the whole computer again.

M. H. Hunter III
~~~~ I installed Norton, and it picked up nothing. ~~~~ Which pretty much sums up norton anti-viruses progressive decline. seriously now, does norton actually ever pick up anything for anyone? I know i had that installed.....among other norton bullsh*t, and it never really found anything in its scans and it f*cking took forever to complete the scan, and i didn't even have that many files. as for the worm, try avast, or avg that should get it out of there La famiglia è tutto The strength of a family, like the strength of an army is in its loyalty to each other.~ Mario Puzo ~

Yeah I feel ya. I manage about 10 computers at the office and one co-worker insists on keeping Norton cuz that's what she's used to. All the others run AVG and hers is the only one that's kinda f*cked up. Takes for ever, HUGE program, slow, not free, etc. Really lame. Same with McAfee. I had that sh*t on a home computer once and it bogged down everything SO HARD! @topic: I dunno what to tell ya, I haven't gotten any viruses/malware/adware/anything like that for years. AVG auto-scan + Ad Aware + CCleaner FTW! $$$ MAKE MONEY WITH NEOBUX $$H

GTA3Freak-2001
Well you may not have to reinstall windows, if you go to a website such as Bleeping Computer.com's HijackThis Log Forum where you simply do a Hijack This log and post it in a new topic. A Technician will post giving you step by step instructions on how to remove the worm, I've used it many times for various viruses and worms and they have been removed totally everytime. And besides, you need a lot of anti-whatever programs with vista....at least for me. it seems that vista with intrusions is the equalivant of dropping the soap in prision whilst a guy named bubba is near by La famiglia è tutto The strength of a family, like the strength of an army is in its loyalty to each other.~ Mario Puzo ~
