jelly
Portal kicked ass, EP2 was good, TF2 is very addictive. In other news, Valve are releasing companion cube toys. I think I'll have to buy at least ten.
Andyzoot
Portal was ace. I'm engrossing myself into Half Life 2 right now and I got to have a quick bash on Team Fortress 2 which is fun so far... Gotta watch out for the companion cubes The cake is a lie
EmSixTeen
I LOVED every bit of it... except TF2. It's quite painfully obvious that it was designed for the PC alone because everyone moves at 500mph and theres no auto-aim or (the far better) magnetism, so hitting anybody is extremely difficult. Auto-aim? What are you, a f*cking woman?
Grandthefter
Portal is a great game, especially the end credits Episode one was fun too, episode two looks like a great expansion too - loving the look of all the outside areas and stuff. Haven't touched team fortress yet, tried to play it and it kept coming up with 'connection lost with host' and stuff like that, so i've given up with it
Andyzoot
Could someone answer a quick question? How long are Episodes 1 and 2 each compared to Half Life 2. Is Episode's 1 and 2 just some short add ons or are they more like proper sequels?
Grandthefter
more like short add-ons. Took around 3ish hours to complete episode one, haven't tried episode two yet.
Voodoo
Episode 2 is longer than episode 1 and much better IMO. My last save was around 6 hours. I loved the mine, the open areas and the final battle. The only annoying part was the second time through while trying to do the "get some grub" achievement. I came up 9 grubs short of the 333 and couldn't for the life of me think how I missed them. Has anyone done this achievement yet?

I've also had trouble with this one, i think i had 330/333, some of them i only noticed by luck, so you have to be very careful not to miss any, look everywhere in every section, some are high in the caves out of sight, these are the ones that probably get missed, some are also hidden in lockers, under crates etc.. you need to look everywhere, i got bored trying cos the first time i tried it i was in commentary mode which dissables the achievements, second time i missed by about 3, at the moment i'm trying to take the garden gnome to the rocket, i'm at the bit where the combine surprise you at the small village, the hardest bit so far was the bit where the heli was chasing you in the car, i had to walk to the tunnel while ducking under the trains to avoid being shot at, then when the gnome was safe at the base i had to run back to get alyx and the car, if theres an easyer way please tell me lol
Voodoo
Yeah, that damned gnome. I read somewhere that you can wedge him in the car behind Alyx somehow, but I haven't tried it yet. I carried him as far as the end of the mines and gave up. I almost dropped him into the abyss while running from the antlion guardian. I'll give it another try eventually. Skyline_Mad
Yea you can place the gnome in the car, and when you drive it slides to the back, but i havnt been able to get it wedged, it slides out the side of the car if you turn too sharp or hit something/jump off something, so the bit with the heli is very hard, impossible even, cos the wind produced by the heli forces the gnome out the car. AlianAnt
I tend to get frustrated when some jackass starts running circles around me at blindingly quick speeds as a scout. After further review of the game (TF2), I do find it fun, quite a bit, but it could still do with some of that magnetism that you people hate so much. But, if you look at any console shooter thats gotten big, they have some sort of auto-aim: Goldeneye, Halo, Call of Duty, anything that has a fantastic multiplayer component has a sort of auto-aim, and it's simply because console games lack that mouse precision. Now, I enjoy console shooters more (when they're done right...), and I'm not trying to turn this into a "OMG MOUZE > FAGTROLLIR" deal. But what I am saying is TF2 has "PC" written all over it. In other news, I got The One Free Bullet achievement. Quite proud of myself. I was worried that at some point I had fired a shot and forgotten, but when the "ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED" popped up, I breathed a sigh of relief. I'm having a hard time getting the Zom-Be-Que achievement, but I think I remember just the place to pull it off. In Episode 2, after you get past that auto-cannon, theres one of those weapon caches. It's the one where you have to break the floor to get at all the stuff. I think I remember there being a huge pile of flairs, and zombies seem to respawn unendingly in the area, so that seems to be the pace to go. Metal up your ass! Inky
Portal = Instant Classic. And as Valve has stated...it's only the beginning. w00t. Truer words have never been typed. My friend and I sat down last night and had a go with the Orange Box. Started with HL2, looked perfect but then we moved on to Portal and well...jesus christ, Valve HAS to turn Portal into its own separate game. The first time we used a portal we couldn't wrap our minds around the mechanics of it, we loved it. I LOVE those little sentry bots! "Are you still there?" The voices are so funny. I think the only possible gripe I have with the game is it is too obviously using the same engine as the others. Maybe just...hm. Well, on second thought how else could they really make it different eh?

Daz
I got this sh*t for 8 quid cheaper than full price, brand new ftw. But I dont know, its not all I hoped. First of all its not a game I would usually buy, I hate shooting anything that isnt human or at least looking like a human. But this time I was desperate for a game. But I still refuse to play the ravenholm sh*tbit. Also Portal isnt as fun as I thought, It can be. But I was expecting it to be really good when its not all that great. And the part I wanted to be the best, TF2 turned out to be pretty cack. I hate heavy weapons and things and there is only 2 automatic guns in the game one of which doesnt even shoot bullets. I only like the pistol and pump shotgun. And the best kit for those is engineer, but he looks sh*t, is weak and has too many responsibilities for me to care about. God I wish Counter Strike was in this. HL2 is good so far shooting mushes but It pisses me the heck off when monsters/aliens/zombies/flyingpeicesofsh*t come into play. You fight combine most of the time with the exeption of a couple of zombies and antlions in some parts. Surely you can survive a couple different enemies. Tbh I'd get bored shooting only combine. Anyway in average HL2, once you get past Ravenholm, Route 17 and sandtraps its alien-ish free. Only a couple of zombies here and there. You fight a crapload of Zombies and Antlions in Episode 1 though, not sure about Episode 2. December 11 is also my birthday.

Uno Carb
I look forward to getting this in the near future. I thought Half Life 2 was a nice ride, so I can't wait to play Episode 1 & 2, get my hands on Team Fortress 2 and that kickass puzzle game, Portal. Daz
Portal was piss, I only ever got stuck on that part where you have to get into the vent, I didnt know it was possible to blow a hole in the tube to get a block out of. So its not my fault I had decentish fun on TF2, but it really lacks alot. And with Half Life, 1 zombie is more than enough to put me off the game even that I know its coming. I have no enjoyment with that crap. And even if they were normal enemies, it wouldnt be fun anyway. All you are going to do is shoot defensless people. There is better skill and fun involved with combine c*nts. I really dont know what people see in games like that. I f*cking hate them. I play to escape, and quite frankly I dont intend to go somewhere even sh*tter than real life, itself. So f*ck that sh*t. I should sell it next month.
