People who liked the final level of Halo 1 will be pleased because they brought back the 'drive a warthog through an exloding warzone to escape' ending, only this time its much more impressive

Well i was a sad c*nt and went out for midnight shopping.

Left my house at about 10.30 and i've only just got back.

The shop was pretty cool, they had all these green plastic stuff over the lights so it made every where green and it didn't half hurt my eyes, waiting in the queue was pretty funny as there are quite a few comedians there, as you may guess the center of the jokes were about the PS3. tounge.gif

Edit: Lmao, and my friends list is just full of Halo 3. biggrin.gif

That legendary edition cost 80 odd quid here, f*ck that i could get two games for that price. To be honest if you buy the legendary edition then you just have a mask sitting on your desk for years doing nothing. tounge.gif

Although the mask does look pretty cool, what's it made out of plastic?.

yeah, its just plastic.

but now my 360 game rack has a head biggrin.gif

LOL, living in moms attic or something?

Anyway, I'm picking up my pre-order tonight. I didn't go last night because I knew it would be a frenzy. I don't even like Halo, either. But oh well.

My last comments were partly overdone in a way to evoke responses with a lot of anger tounge.gif , but anyway, how is the game? And when I ask how it is, I mean I'd like you to seriously consider things. The sheer excitement of a new game makes some people explode with chunks of waste shooting out of their butts and phrases such as "OMFFG LOL ROFLZ" coming out of their mouths.

Rather than having a OMG-fest less than 24 hours after you bought the item, wait and review it properly in a month or two. I've played so many games that I have had amazing opinions about initially, but a month or two later, I realize just how good or bad or average the game really is.

I'm not trying to kill any excitement...rather I'm trying to understand how any kind of a new first person shooter can be exciting? I thought the BioShock demo was great, but I didn't buy it because I didn't want to pay $60 for pretty graphics and sound effects and old music that raise the level of theatricality within the game.

The last first-person shooter that truly impressed me was Half-Life 2, and even that wasn't as great as I initially thought it was. Was it the best sequel to any first-person shooter ever? Yes, but that's not saying a lot.

People have put so much faith in the Halo franchise, but all I still see is a first-person view where you can walk around and progress through a "level."

And yeah, I'm going to compare Grand Theft Auto to Halo. I hate people that say "you can't compare this to that." I can compare a wood desk to a banana if I wanted to. Everything can be compared and contrasted.

Grand Theft Auto IV looks so much more original than Halo 3 in terms of comparing the new game to the previous one in the genre. It just looks so much different, not even counting the graphics which are only there so you can see what is going on and also to enhance the feeling of realism within the game. IV just looks so ambitious.

Just trying to bring a new level of conversation to this thread rather than saying something ridiculously early such as "it meets the hype" or "how do I get past the _____ in level ____?"

I'm gonna have to disagree with Jordan on this one. Halo 3 is not just a recycled Halo 2 with better graphics. It's the best game ever, and its greatness isn't blown of proportion by pretty much everyone that likes it.

First of all, the story is original. It's not like it's based on old battles from ancient times that none of you would ever know about.

Secondly, the multiplayer features games like 'capture the flag' and 'deathmatch', which are so uncommon in games these days. In fact, Halo 3 is almost revolutionary. You can burn people with flamethrowers, you can kill people online, you can fight in battles against your enemies, and you can do co-op missions. Is there anything to can't do?

It's not like the gameplay is limited to constantly fight battles over and over.

It's not like they reused the same ending from a previous one of their games.

It's not like Halo 3 is overrated. If something is popular, it's automatically good. Just look at reality television. inlove.gif

I like the Halo series, don't get me wrong (for what I'm about to say), they're great games. Everything's in place with it: story, graphics, customizability in multiplayer, the list goes on. Do I think it's the best FPS (or even game) ever, oh hell no.

Halo 3 is way, way, way too overhyped. Y'know why? Because Bungie played it smooth and targeted the casual market in it's advertising campaign. I can't believe how GTA IV is coming out and all my dumb friends just had to have Halo 3. They forget even that something as original and innovative that we all know GTA IV to be, they just had to stick plasmas onto Spartan1457 for the 1000th because it has a few new features and (slightly) better graphics.

In short, and this is the way it always will be sadly, the better marketing department and some really good hype will overshadow the true gems in gaming. Am I saying that Halo 3 is a horrible game? No, but I am saying that Bioshock is ten times better and deserves much more than the Halo games for innovation and furthering how we thought an FPS was supposed to be played. The same goes for others: Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari Damacy, and many more.

and then have to rip it all out should i decide to sell the house.

in red deer, you need a building permit to finish a basement, before you can do that, you need an electrical inspection on any wiring you did. before that, i have to wire all the lights in.

and before that, i have to stop being so lazy smile.gif

I've had the game all afternoon and I just can't stop playing. I'm going to finish Campaign before I start multiplayer.

Same here. I'm just getting used to the controls again from the beta (RB reload, wtf?), so I'd get murdered stepping into that arena. The campaign's decent, but so far hasn't blown my mind. I probably should've brushed up on the last couple games to refresh my memory on the plot, but then again I can't hear too much since three other people are playing with me (co-op rules).

I got my copy last night 10 minutes after Gamestop started selling them. I got home at 12:17, and started playing at 12:23. I beat the single-player at 6:02am, and continued to play online until 7:30, when I finally pried myself away because I found myself falling asleep in pre-game lobbies while it found matches.

I awoke at 3:30pm, and immediately turned my 360 on and began playing again. I just stopped, and it is 2:49am.

Halo 3 is everything I could have possibly hoped for, and everything I could possibly ever need. I'd be playing still, but I have to go to school in four hours, and need some rest. To all you haters out there: you must be blind, or not know a brilliant game when it slaps you in the face. If you want physics puzzles, go play Half Life. If you want balls-to-the-walls action, brilliant pacing, an awesome story, great graphics, and multiplayer to end all multiplayer, get Halo 3.

I could care less about it, I was a big fan of Ms. Pacman growing up and still am, all the Pacman variations weened me to finally love GTA!

I did see StarWars in the 70s and it's great but Sci-Fi is not a large area of interest for me. I love the sandbox ideal GTA has pioneered and that alone is a big draw but the humor, the music, the real look and feel, alot of fun that can't be topped easily!!!

Phew. Last night after I got off work at 10pm I came home, ate, then played Halo for an hour. Jesus. The multiplayer was just as good as I remember it was in the beta only better. Last night I ended two games with MVP, the first composed of mostly beat-downs and the last was 20 kills and a few with the beam sword (is that the right name? the two bladed energy sword thing..), haha. I jumped down on top of someone and sliced him and shot up his friend next to him, then got the final kill to end the round tounge.gif

I'll be on later tonight after work around 7PM MDT if anyone wants to play, I'd totally be up for a game. Some nice Team Slayer wink.gif.

Oh, question for you Halo nuts. When do I get to play Big Team games? Do I have to just keep playing and ranking up until eventually the game option is available?

Quick question, since I don't have a 360 (and no H3)

Have they returned the scope to the pistol? That was one of the things I missed the most in Halo 2.

No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.

Unfortunately, No. confused.gif

I could own all day with that pistol and so could many others so the purposely "nerfed" it a bit, sad to say.

Dual Brute Pistols is kind of my new fav. for sure.

*In regards to what Jordan was saying, I daresay you'll be hard pressed to find someone more enthusiastic and supportive of the GTA series as myself but just as things can be compared they sort of top out in their genre's and become a matter of preference. Apples & Oranges.

GTA is an awesome innovative pioneer of the Sandbox and emmergent gameplay format and Halo is a wonderfully tactile and accessible FPS that most people can just pick up, play and find themselves feeling like John McClane from Diehard within the 1st 5 minutes of any level. It's not geared towards an uber-realistic military sim (BF2, Call of Duty) but rather is based on some loose physics and mechanics that make everything feel a bit cool. (i.e in real life I can't naturally jump 6 feet into the air, repeatedly). Really and truly, just plain fun m'man - there's nothing to "get" here, if you have the sligtest bit of testosterone about your person, within half an hour, Halo should be appealing to you on some level or another.

And Bioshock owned souls, no doubt- and that game had relatively NO hype behind it whatsoever before the formal reviews started rolling in to confirm what most players have discovered in playing it.

In the end, to each their own of course.

*I've been playing the campaign, avoiding online for the 1st few days- just want to enjoy the game for what it is for a bit.

I have just been online now and i think it's pretty cool that it shows you a map of the world and shows you where abouts everyone is playing. one person is in Brazil and there's one person in the middle of the sea. lol.gif

I've been going to sleep at like 3am for the past couple of night playing this game lol. The scarab boss fight was f*cking great, way better than the Halo 2 "fight". Been playing coop with 2 of my friends.
