I thought I can get help here.

 

My 360 controller has got some issues. It keeps flashing and switching off all the time while I'm playing, usually happens evey 2 mins or so. I'm lucky if I get 10 mins of play without it switching off automatically. Sometimes it requires me to press the button for a very long time to try and switch it on. Its really annoying. This happens even if I use brand new batteries. Anyone has any idea what could be the problem & how can I fix it?

Same sh*t happens to me, all it means is your controller is telling you to go get some batteries.

Did you drop the control much? You could have broken some of the stuff inside it.

 

Anyway, has there been any news of a new backwards compatibility patch?

Nah I dont recall ever dropping my controller even once - meaning even if I did before it's not a regular thing.

 

I think the tape idea would work, I was thinking of that too. Maybe that thingy that holds the batteries is loose for some reason.

Best solution is to buy a battery pack or two. They are teh best thing to happen to controllers since analog sticks.

I really hope this new update for xbox is good. I like the idea for downloading games to the HDD since I have a 120 GB hard drive.

I believe they said it was supposed to take place around November, or October. Seeing as that is the time all the new games for 360 come out, so why not an update for the 360 too?

Anyway I don't like how vague they are with the release dates to things like this. Fall just isn't good enough.

I'm happy about the announcement of party voice chat but the dashboard does look horrible as Funky said.

 

I haven't read through the last couple of pages which I assume are about the updates so this is just going off what a mate said, but Microsoft are not re-funding anyone for the gamer pictures they're going to lose, I myself have pruchased two sets of "Kamo Kingz" and the CoD4 pack.

I was looking at the official Xbox forums about this new dashboard. At first i was like WTF that doesnt appeal to me at all being a 23 year old hardcore gamer, But according to an official e-mail sent ut by MS the new update has intergrated most of what the community has been begging for over the last 2 years.

 

I dont think MS is going to do something to f*ck all of us over, and they are certainly not going to release something thats going to hinder their profits.

 

The main thing that people on the official forum are worried about is the fact they have brought themes and gamer pictures and by the sounds of it you wont need them anymore.

 

the one thing im not keen on is the fact i have a vision camera and would really like the ability to place my face on my avatar (but MS havent said anything about live vision intergration with the new update) i dont want my avatar to look like everyone elses.

The avitars are optional, you can use gamer pics, and you can use the old school dashboard also, from what I've heard. Why do people spend money on gamer pics anyway?

But, then I realised all the awesome stuff there is to come for the 360. So, I just let the avatars be. Microsoft really is stepping up, though. All they need now is a built-in web browser. Am I correct?

 

Also, my live ran out a few days back, and am pretty much broke at the moment. Anyone got a spare one month code they could PM me?

Web browser won't be happening. Not even in the future. I wish though. Oh, and I can use a spare one month code as well.

 

P.S: I can't wait for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Sounds promising. I heard that it's also going to cost $39.99. Hope it's true, but does that mean the game isn't as good?

You can't use the old dashboard, the update is replacing the old dashboard with the new one but you will be able to use your old themes + gamer pictures but even if they didn't work Microsoft could just provide the people who bought them before themes for the new dashboards as replacements.

 

The way the new dashboard is set-up certainly allows a better view for wallpapers and stuff.

 

Anyone else think it would be a good idea if Microsoft let you unlock themes + gamer pics based on your gamer score instead of charging?

I think that looks very nice, there is a sleekness there not present in the current dashboard. And yeah a big thumbs up for being able to view the download details at your own pace!

 

Has anyone's 360 controller got a dodgy left bumper button? Ever since I've had my 360 my left bumper just doesn't seem to give the same indication of it being pressed when compared to the right one. It would be fine if the controller didn't have some special security screws where I can't pull the thing apart and see if I can fix it. It works but sometimes won't depending on how you press it. Very annoying!

Nope, if you wanted to play an arcade game while your in the middle of a regular game (or any game) you had to go all the way back to the dashboard. It isn't that bad but changing that is a good idea.

 

ALso thank god for the new marketplace look. I hate reading the descriptions in those things because it never shows enough, you read the top like three lines then wait like 10 seconds for it to start scrolling at a snail's pace.

My left thumb stick is a little dodgy at times, sometimes it sticks to the right but it's okay after i correct it's position, it's only happened about 3 times though and i've not had any problems with it for a couple of weeks now.

 

After seeing the new Dashboard pictures i've changed my mind and it does actually look pretty slick, and i agree with the others that it will be a good thing to read video and demo descriptions at our own pace .

Right i've just gone back to Gears of War after a very, very long time and noticed that all 30 of my COG tags have gone and basically all my campaign status is gone, i can only start from act 2 and i can't choose the insane difficulty even though i've completed it many times before.

 

Anyone have any ideas as to why everything's gone?.

Yo, the first controller I had was absolutely fine for 9 months until it went back to the stor with the 360 that RROD'd. About a month or so ago, 8 months after I got the replacement, the left bumper takes way more pushing down that the right one, it seems to sit lower down now too. I think it's getting worse too

I've noticed that my Right Bumper not registering sometimes when playing Gears. To much reloading i guess.

If no to those two then that really weired, I know if you pick say Act2 while on Act5 and it checkpoint saves then you continue from Act2, but you shouldn't lose you COG tags and Insane Unlock.

@ Aaron: No, the new Gears of War 2 theme is not free, it costs 100 MS points, I believe. But, it is nice. If you do buy it, I suggest changing the guide background to the original gears theme guide background, looks much nicer and doesn't hurt your eyes.

My left bumper is fine, but the analog sticks... I mean, God damn it, I was sniping on Call of Duty 4 on Wet Work on a Hardcore team deathmatch. I'm on the south end of the ship, slowly moving out the door to get a shot on the other sniper on the other side of the ship, and when I stop, my analog stick gets stuck and I keep moving out the door, and he gets an easy kill.
