cycon77foamy[GTA Man],Jul 14 2008, 20:10] OMFG Guys Big News. FINAL FANTASY XIII Coming to 360!!! Just announced at MS E3 conference!!!

Another PS3 exclusive finding it's way onto the 360 wow.gif.

Never liked FF really but massive news for you FF lovers.

I'm not liking the look of the supposed new Dashboard though, looks like Vista for the 360.

How's it gonna be? I missed the conference... Was in the subway when I saw that it was 2:30pm sad.gif

Anyway, there was a game magazine here saying that in an interview, Kojima stated that he would let us, 360 owners, play MGS4 exactly a year after it's release for the PS3. Oh my god, hope so.

Is this what the new dashboard is going to look like?

Instead of grey, they should make the background blue.....you probably can change it....I assume.

@sainraja, Yeah that's what it's supposed to look like with moving avatars and stuff.

Also 8 person group chat is coming soon.

Just looking on PS3Fanboy.com and they aren't very happy with this news.

Oh and i would love MGS 4 on 360, played Snake Eater and loved it smile.gif.

Edit: Anybody know what 'Netflix' is?, it's exclusive to Microsoft.

I'm not watching it, dunno where's it being shown actually.

I've been reading the info on a couple of Xbox sites and here's what's been said

Microsoft confirmed that the previously rumoured avatars are inbound as the dashboard will receive a major makeover as they intend to make things more fun and accessible.

A new innovation for Microsoft as well is the Live Parties where up to 8 people can join a group together and chat, game, whatever they want as a group without ever being split up.

More news inbound

Edit: Anybody know what 'Netflix' is?, it's exclusive to Microsoft.

It's an online movie rental service. Basically, instead of waiting for the movies to come in the mail, now XBox users who are subscribed to Netflix can simply watch the movie from the console. Whether it's streaming or you have to download it, well that's beyond me.

Some of the new features comming soon the 360:

Some of the features in the new Xbox experience (8 person chat, VGA support and more)

Xbox LIVE GM Marc Whitten (Notwen) has sent me the following letter to share with the Xbox LIVE Community. I goes into a little more detail about some of the new features that are coming as part of the new Xbox Experience this Fall. I'll work on getting Marc on a future show to discuss further.

Dear Xbox LIVE Member,

When we launched Xbox 360 in November 2005, Xbox LIVE was integrated directly into the console. Back then, Xbox 360 was the first system to deliver access to experiences beyond just the disc in the tray. With the Xbox guide and dashboard you had access to everything on your console as well as your community.

We also imagined that Xbox experience would continuously improve over time, through the power of software.

Since launch, you’ve always pushed us to continuously innovate. It is because you spoke with one loud voice that we added new features like background downloading, 1080p support, movies and TV shows, video chat, a Marketplace blade and instant messaging.

Over time, as we’ve delivered more and more content into the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, we’ve heard from many of you that it has become increasingly difficult to find the games and content you want.

And that brings us to today.

Because of your feedback, we started rethinking the entire Xbox experience. What we discovered was that we could not only provide a better experience for you, but also something that reaches out to new audiences.

What John Schappert unveiled for the world on stage at E3 was just a sneak preview, so I wanted to share some deeper details on some of the new features in the new Xbox experience.

Here is a look at some additional features you will find interesting:

· Play from hard drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive.  Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game.

· Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web.  Browse and purchase Marketplace content whenever you want from Xbox.com and it downloads automatically to your console.  Purchase that new map, television episode, the latest Xbox LIVE Arcade game or set up a movie to watch when you get home from work.

· Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide.  For everyone who loves the blades interface, it’s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide.  You can even access your full games library at all times.  No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.

· LIVE Party system.  Create a party of up to eight friends, and stay with them from one game to another, or watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos.  It works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games.  LIVE Party allows up to eight people to chat in the dashboard, so you can meet up before playing.

· Xbox LIVE Primetime. This whole new category of games is going to give you more reasons to get online with your friends.  Games will support everything you’d expect, like Achievements and leader boards, but many of these games will include real prizes. You can invite your friends, and even set a reminder for an upcoming show.  Each game is broadcast simultaneously, so everyone is answering the same questions.  Many events will have a live host, calling the shots as they happen.

· Avatars. Your online identity started as a Gamertag - it then grew into a personalized Gamercard. Now, it has evolved even further into avatars.  You can express your style, check out new outfits and share this with the community.  Avatars will also be integrated into Xbox LIVE Arcade games, LIVE Party, as well as retail games.

· New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440x900 or 1680x1050.

This is only the beginning.  Over the next few months, we will share more details on the upcoming changes.

See you online,

Marc Whitten

Not really it just makes sense to copy the game to HDD.

Also people were expecting a Bungie announcement from the Microsoft conference but it's finished and there wasn't one. But now there's a timer on the Bungie website, wonder what they've got planned.

Some pretty nifty things for Xbox Live coming up but there's also some crappy stuff.

Avatars - Very reminiscent of the Wii's style of Mii, the Xbox 360 is taking a step in personalizing your Xbox Live experience. Each member of Xbox Live will have their very own Avatar which will be personally customized by the individual. These look to take the place of your gamer picture to give you a new identity on Xbox Live. Here are some brief details regarding this new feature:

  • Certain titles will have your Avatar inserted directly into the game.
  • Personalize your avatar completely, from their hair to their clothes.
  • Your Friends List will show all of your friends Avatars.
  • In the Community Channel, all of your friends online will be shown with their corresponding Avatar.
  • You can potentially win items from certain games to be used on your Avatar.
Party System - One of the most talked about improvements we have wanted to see was a way to have more than two people in a voice chat at a time. What did Microsoft do to answer this? They went above and beyond to bring us a new way of interacting with our online friends. These are just some of the features that we know about with the upcoming party system:
  • Supports up to eight people at a time.
  • Voice chat, share photos, watch movies, play games, and much more with your online friends.
  • Netflix subscribers will have access to 10,000+ movies and tv shows streamed through Xbox Live. You are able to share these videos and watch them with your party.
  • Do everything with your party. You will be able to seamlessly change from playing a game to sharing photos without ever leaving your party.
  • Works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games.
Xbox Live Primetime - A completely brand new and creative item being added to your Xbox Live experience is Xbox Live Primetime. Many more details about this intriguing feature will be revealed in the future, but here is what we know so far:
  • Play along with the entire Xbox Community in popular game shows, as well as other yet to be seen games.
  • Microsoft has entered into a partnership with Endemol, who is responsible for popular shows such as Big Brother, 1 vs. 100, Deal or No Deal, and Fear Factor.
  • 1 vs. 100 will launch alongside Primetime, in which you can take the role of the 1 or the 100 in answering trivia questions. Avatars will be used in-game.
  • Games will include everything that XBLA and Retail Games would have, including Achievements and Leaderboards.
  • You'll play the games in real-time, so everyone will be answering each question at the same time.
  • Some shows will even feature a live host.
  • The ability to win real prizes.
Xbox Live Community Games - Also launching this Fall is Xbox Live Community Games, which is the channel for the user-created games from their XNA software. We got a small taste of some of these creations earlier this year and were quite impressed with some of them. A few of the games shown include Colosseum, Hot Potato, and Word Soup. We're not sure yet whether or not these games will include achievements, but we'll be sure to let you know any details when we find out.

Play games directly from your Hard Drive - Yes, you heard that correctly. Just after the announcement of the new 60 GB model, they make the announcement that you'll be able to actually copy an Xbox 360 game directly to your Hard Drive and play it from there. Don't think you'll be able to rent a game, throw it on your Hard Drive, and be able to play it whenever you want. You'll still need the Xbox 360 disc in your drive to play the game. So, pointless, right? Not at all. Your disc drive won't spin at all, which could add a longer lifetime to your console, but most importantly, it will drastically cut down on load times.

Download from the Marketplace on Xbox.com - You will now be able to access and make all purchases from the Xbox Live Marketplace directly from Xbox.com. Once you do so, it will download directly to your console. If you're not home and want to download a movie or game so it'll be ready when you're ready to watch or play it, just browse to Xbox.com and download it. Pretty nifty.

Xbox Guide Support - Upon seeing the new interface of the Dashboard, you might be crying that you'll no longer have the blades that you've come to know and love. Don't worry, they're not going away. You'll now be able to access these at any time with the use of your guide button. What does this mean? You'll be able to access everything while you're in game. Playing some Gears of War 2 but decide you want to play an XBLA game for a bit? You'll be able to launch it directly instead of going all the way back to the Dashboard.

VGA Display Support - In addition to the 1080p via HDMI that they instituted awhile back, you will now be able to get resolutions of 1440x900 or 1680x1050 through VGA or 16x10 with HDMI or VGA.

It's all an attempt to appear more "casual". That's an area where Microsoft and the 360 have been fairly weak so far so I think this is a good move to undercut the Wii's "casual gamer" image. I'm not sure how the more hardcore gamers will respond to this but...I have no problem with the new dashboard/avatars.

Yeah the copying function will definitely be great...reduced noise/faster load times. inlove.gif

It's too bad you'll only be able to store a game or two at a time on the standard hard drive. whatsthat.gif

Well the new dashboard is aimed at the new 60GB Pro models I guess. I won't be worried though, I still have 90GB left on my Elite.

Any word on when they're releasing the update?

Copy games to the HDD is going to be great, even with my lousy 20GB drive I've still got a good 13GB left since I stream all of my music and videos off my PC and I don't have that many Arcade games or DLC content. Ok so I'd be lucky to get two games on it, but hey I'll only be doing it with the latest game I am playing for improved load times.

Blackadder.

Hopefully copying games to the HDD works with already released games, so I'll finally be able to get past the 'Unreadble Disc Error' message I'm constantly recieving from GTA IV.

I like the new Xbox Guide, I think that's how it should of been during release, and now it's coming to light. The Dashboard doesn't seem too bad either.

And I'm glad they're supporting new VGA resolutions, my monitor is a native resolution of 1440x900 and I've been stuck at 1360x768. Bah.

EDIT: Banjo Kazooie and Portal coming to Marketplace as well? Gears 2 having 5-player Co-op? Geometry Wars 2? Did I die and go to heaven? inlove.gif

I am so excited for the update and all the new games coming. This is quite possibly the best thing I have heard in regards to the 360.

FFXIII coming to 360 isn't that big of a deal, well, you wouldn't think so according to PS3forums and other websites that center around the PS3.

Anyway, can't wait for the update.

Oh, Gears on my B-day ROCKS!

Right on, but f*ck it, I will spend most of the time playing the games, not looking at the dashboard, so I'm ok with it.

Anyway, I'm going to get a 120GB HDD right away, gonna store all the games I play, wich is much better, since my 20GB HDD has only 1.3GB left (too many demos, I guess blush.gif ).

I thought I can get help here.

My 360 controller has got some issues. It keeps flashing and switching off all the time while I'm playing, usually happens evey 2 mins or so. I'm lucky if I get 10 mins of play without it switching off automatically. Sometimes it requires me to press the button for a very long time to try and switch it on. Its really annoying. This happens even if I use brand new batteries. Anyone has any idea what could be the problem & how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance

Did you drop the control much? You could have broken some of the stuff inside it.

Anyway, has there been any news of a new backwards compatibility patch?

Try putting some duct tape in that thing that holds the batteries on the controller. And no, this isn't a reference to that member.

Nah I dont recall ever dropping my controller even once - meaning even if I did before it's not a regular thing.

I think the tape idea would work, I was thinking of that too. Maybe that thingy that holds the batteries is loose for some reason.

Thanks guys.
