Am I just incredibly lucky or is anyone else still got their initial 360 still going strong? By that I mean I bought my 360 in November 06 and so far its still working with no problems bar the issue with the DVD drive which was replaced by MS. As I think I mentioned in this topic it does get as noisy as a jumbo taking off but only when the weather is hot. I am still dreading the possibility of the RROD's striking it down but I am really surprised given how wide-spread the failures of consoles are.

heh, Well, As I pointed out in another thread, I bought my xbox pre-owned halfway through 2007, and I'm surprised it's still good. I have no idea how many previous owners it's had or whatever, or if it's ever been sent off to Microsoft. I'm hoping mine never f*cks up.

Yeh I f*cking hate that. I can still hear it over my big ass fan. I wonder if Microsoft can do something about that. I don't want my xbox sounding like an outdated computer.

I bought Goldstar 3DO basically in light of that game's graphics and gameplay at the time.

People bitching all too frequently on price forget that system cost $600 USD to buy!!

I don't recall the last 360 advert I saw on TV (in the Midwest, USA)... I did tape the over night news cover a story on gaming and the advances we see... of course, Wii got honorable mention because of their participatory controller!

 

Anywho, it neglected a lot of things we look forward to with only a mention of violent games and showing some war and FPS footage.

This was the past week BTW!

 

I want to point out after reading some coverage on the HD DVD dilemma for Microsoft... Why can't they integrate an HD disc player into a game delivery system as PS3 does? I assumed it would be possible even as an add on, however, I wasn't sure

Mainly because it would alienate the people who currently own a 360 and probably don't want to inveest in an add-on to play future games.

 

It really wouldn't be a good idea.....if anything....it should have happened from the get go.

...With bluRay now, obviously, a new SKU is in order, incorporate the drive, because as I see it (and Charming Charlie doesn't) Having the HD drive on hand makes it all worth it!!

Whats the cheapest I could find for a 360 with a HDD?

With HDD, you'd be looking at around $320 or above if lucky. And that would be a never opened, never used 360.

 

With a refurbished/previously owned/etc with an HDD, you're looking at around $200-$250. You're taking risks with previously owned consoles, though. There's a lot of assholes who will get the RRoD and then try to sell it saying it has no problems. I've owned plenty of refurbished electronics and never had a problem with 'em, but then again, I'm a cheap bastard.

 

Just remember, if you want to get previously owned, test before buying. And definately look for a "sold as is" label or something similar to that, because chances are, you're getting a bad one.

 

I'm not sure about this, but if the Arcade version can infact use harddrives, you could try and pick up a previously owned/refurbished Arcade and look for a cheap HDD on eBay. It's hard to find any of those being sold with serious problems.

 

@Road Rash: Is that the game where every person is a small car or something, and you just basically free roamed all over the map? That was one of my first PS2 games, and I still feel like occasionally playing it. I'd love a new one.

I dunno. I guess I'm becoming bored of it. The only thing that keeps me playing now is the wide range of cars and how much you can customise them. Upgrading engine parts and body parts is total pwnage out of any racing game, and Test Drive certainly doesn't have that. I'll decide by Thursday.

If you're looking for another racer then you should give Burnout Paradise a go. It's a great arcade racer.

If you're looking for another racer then you should give Burnout Paradise a go. It's a great arcade racer.

Like f*ck it is. It's a great game, no doubt about that, but people don't buy it for the racing.

 

 

People buy it to smash the living f*ck out of theirs and every other car they see. If you're going to get an arcadey game to replace Forza 2, then get PGR4.

 

Or Burnout Paradise, if you're not into the whole racing deal. Great fun, that game is.

they're is no bronze package lol. there is silver and gold, gold allows you to play online but you have to pay for it.

Exactly...go to the PS3 topic with this. No reason posting it here. That quote is kind of funny though, but it would more then 360, seeing how they send it to stores, you get it send it back (that would be 360) then it makes it all the way back to you.
