That said, I had an Xbox I repaired from RRoD crash with all 4 red lights, the GPU prior was exhibiting signs of tearing streaks in Red Dead Redemption. So, should I even attempt to fix it again or would it need more intensive surgery ?

 

New GPU replaced on the main board??

@Topic - I got my new Xbox today. Soo sexy looking, kinda surprised that the new 4GB version doesnt come all glossed up though. The on/off button totally freaks me out though so sensitive. Oh I also was able to use my old 250GB HDD on the USB stick so that's pretty awesome. Does that mean if I install a game onto that HDD it will cut out the loading times ect, even though its not on the 4GB HDD. If that makes sense.

The Xbox 360 slim looks tidy and when it first came out I was going to sell my Xbox 360 arcade (with 60HDD hard drive) to get the slim but I thought that there is not much point. If my console fails on me (which I've had three years) I will definitely get the slim

The Xbox 360 slim looks tidy and when it first came out I was going to sell my Xbox 360 arcade (with 60HDD hard drive) to get the slim but I thought that there is not much point. If my console fails on me (which I've had three years) I will definitely get the slim

xpect price drop for the slim inthe autumn. Was speaking to a guy who works for game and he was telling me a couple months back that the 320gb console is due to come out with a significant price drop

If I would need to change my Xbox for new one I would take normal slim 250 Gb. "Star wars" version looks awful especially in these colors and with gold joypad. I know that these colors are representing R2D2 and C3PO, but the whole set is looking terrible.

I'll comment on that, shared experience here. My HDMI version Xbox in black plastic, still dates to 2006 by looking at the drive. My advice? If and when it craps out on ya, look no further then eBay for a replacement, save the logic board and read the top label to determine the model to replace with, I just compared two of the same vintage, they do NOT match for a swap of parts. They all mount in the same chassis of the same vintage.

 

So once you have exact working replacement, swap the logic board (has the ribbon cable attachments) to the new drive from your old Xbox, You're set to do gaming as normal

Depends where you trade it in really. You could sell it on Ebay for quite alot more than you would get from just trading it into a game store. They rip you off big time really. Depends if you want to go through the hassle of Ebay though. If you have enough money to spare, then you could always ask a local game store how much they'd offer you for trading it in if you buy another xbox from them. But I've always found Amazon to be the cheapest deal on xbox's, unless there's a deal on somewhere in store.

OK so I got hoe front the other day and I've reached chapter 6 but so far the game looks like a survival other than like a squad and sh*t.

Question. I finally got to play my Xbox today. I didn't do any transfer of files from HDD to HDD because I had my old one plugged in. Anyway, I pop in LA Noire and no saved game is present. I quit, went to my 250gb hdd, moved my saved game file over to my 4gb hdd already in the new xbox slim. Go to start the game up and I click resume. I finish off the case I was last on - got the star marking of 3 (shameful really) and then pressed A and continued as usual. Well after it finishes loading, it takes me back to the LA Noire home screen where you have to press A. Long story short, even with my old HDD removed from the xbox it still took me round in circles about 5 times before I end up getting pissed off.

 

My question to you guys is what the hell is wrong with my saved file and why can't I progress to other cases. I'm presuming its going to happen with every other game I try to play to. So is there something I need to do with my xbox to make it normal again?

I grinded level 2 around 60 times so I'm already tier 6, my brother who I co-op with, is still tier 3 and he doesn't want to play on hard -.-.

I agree. I heard quite a few people were saying it looks tidy but it doesn't. Gears Of War 3 Xbox 360 looks good though.

I'm going to go XB360 hunting tomorrow, the price will still be $100 USD, but I'll try hardest to avoid any from 2006!!! Or early 2007 if I can. It's FAR too risky as I've found. I am going to try another Heat Gun fix, but unlike last time, I'm going to clear all the Thermal paste and re-apply. I think it could easily be too much or too little that causes a bad surface to surface mount between Heatsink and the GPU/CPU die.

 

I've found initiation of the graphics GPU chip and it's performance seem most effected in mine that did succumb to R R O D
