Its not broken yet thats the thing, I would take it in now and trade if I would get £40 or more. Knowing how GAME has sh*tty prices on exchanges though I would probably get £20-£30 off if that. Probably just better off keeping this console now until it actually dies on me and then just save up for a brand new console.

Oh sorry i misunderstood then, and yeah ive never traded a console but i know the prices are really sh*t, they give you next to nothing basically.

The best deal i saw was when the slim first game out, game was doing a deal where if you traded in an elite you get get a Slim for £150, so that was basically getting you £50 for the Elite console, which lets face it is a rip off

Totally agree with GAME ripping you off when trading it. That's why I thought I should ask before I even consider it. I think the cheapest on the new 360's is around £150-160 on Amazon. Not sure if its cheaper anywhere else though.

Not just GAME though, that's the problem. Amazon is the best for both buying and selling IMO...the other day I was looking at getting rid of a gamecube game, and even after 5+ years, the game is still going for £45 at the cheapest. Some decent console prices on there aswell, plus they always do deals on bundles.

Interesting article:

Rumours abound that Microsoft may be preparing to unveil the next Xbox at E3 2012, but according to Kinect Sports developer Rare, the next-gen is already here.

Speaking at the Develop conference in Brighton this evening, Rare chief Scott Henson dismissed next-gen questions, pointing towards Microsoft's ability to improve gaming experiences through software.

"One of my favourite things is, Scott, tell me when next-gen is. Tell me when that's going to happen. This has been the last ten years of my life. When's next-gen? When's next-gen? When's the new Xbox Live? When's the new Xbox?" he said.

"The power of software, the power of services, and the power of platforms is that it's always now. We continue to build on them, continue to innovate, continue to push, and we continue to build magic."

In a Eurogamer investigation into the new Xbox and the PlayStation 4, published this morning, Crysis 2 developer Crytek UK and Gears of War 3 maker Epic Games said current DirectX 11-fuelled visuals provide a good indication of what will be possible on the next round of home consoles.

Avatar-quality graphics are a realistic possibility, we were told.

Going one step beyond that, Henson said motion-sensing add-on Kinect puts gamers one step closer to simulating the Star Trek-style holodeck in their living rooms.

"I'm not going to give you the exact date you're going to have a holodeck in your room, but think about that for just a second," he said.

"Think about the movies we all grew up on and the things that inspired us in lots of different ways to create the kind of entertainment to do. We're down that path. We're absolutely down that path right now."

But before you set your phasers to stun and ask Scottie to beam you up, know this: Henson reckons it'll be a long while before the holodeck becomes a reality.

"You see advancements in televisions," he said. "When we stood up and we said it's the HD era in 2005 and HD is now – I remember because I wrote the speech and I was at GDC in 2005 and we gave away TVs, it was awesome. And here we are in 2011 and HD TVs are pretty pervasive, but they're still in only about half the homes around the world. It's not everywhere yet.

"When will the holodeck happen? It's going to be a journey. I don't think there's going to be a date."

Some teams will get the hardware developers tools, etc, Long before the public is offered a new console, but howabout MS focus on PC gaming?!?! hahaha They need a shot in the ole arm, first

As for XBOX and RRoD, I'd like to know how many of you are or have noticed graphical "tears" in the display of games on the Xbox, online or offline, it doesn't stop the game, but last time I was using said system, there were some small pauses and freeze-ups

I hope it never becomes completely compulsory, like certain missions etc that you cant do because you dont use Kinect, because the idea really dosent interest me atall, maybe its fun at times like Christmas when you have family and friends round and your stumbling about drunk all having a go at Michael Jackson the experience, but if im in my room and seriously involved in a game, i dont want to be jumping all over the place like a tit in a trance trying to get a mission completed

Not only that, but how long before we start getting Kinect specific achievements? It already annoys me with some of the Online only achievements, since, if you buy the game rather late on, there's a good chance that you're going to miss out on getting these achievements. I don't want them to do what Nintendo did, and concentrate too much on this gimmick and forget about the hardcore gamers.

I strongly disagree with online achievements aswell, i love Assassins Creed brotherhood but im not a fan of playing it online, so unlike Assassins Creed 2 i cant get all achievements because it has online ones angry.gif

There are still some people believe it or not who dont have their Xbox connected to live, so its unfair on them aswell. If the game developers want to include online achievements, maybe they should make it optional. Ask at the beginning if online achievements should be enabled or something!

Forgive me if this be a stupid question, but who actually creates the achievements, M$ or the company that made the game?

The game company decides them as far as I know. But MS do put some restrictions in place e.g. how many achievements there can be, how much a single achievement can be worth etc.

I think online achievements are Microsoft's way of luring non-XBL members onto online gaming. Not getting online achievements makes people have a desire to get them. They should actually be optional, much like the Kinect achievements.

That's exactly why I was asking who made the achievements. If it had been M$, then it's expected, since, as you stated, it would 'lure' everyone into getting Live. Then again, the companies will be profiting more as well due to the DLC.

The online achievements should be 'activated' once you enter MP for the first time on that specific game. So, say for example I get a new game with MP options, but don't want to play the MP on that game, only the offline campaign, the achievements should stay 'locked', and upon completion of all the achievements, should receive 100% of achievements unlocked, and upon 'activating' the online achievements, the percentage jumps down to reflect this.

So, uhm, yeah, anyone got any new games, or pre-ordered any?

The devs have a budget of 1000gs for a full game to work with and it's up to them where they put them. RDR and S2U has plenty of online achievements, MW2 and DS2 has none. Because they're on a budget some devs are implementing their own rewards into their games. The boosting on MW2 to get some silly call sign is pathetic.

So is King Kong and Terminator And i have all 3 ph34r.gif

Never completed Terminator though, its not as easy as everyone said it is on the hardest setting, and its so boring i just cant be bothered putting myself threw it just for another 800G

In defence of King Kong, i bought that purely for the Gamerscore and it actually Wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, i actually quite enjoyed it. Well, enjoyed it as much as possible playing a game about a giant gorilla that falls in love with a blonde chick.

I dislike online achievements. But thats only because I don't have Gold now so I wont be getting them. Although, when I did have Gold I never really got the online ones as it is since I found them a little hard for the games I have.

OK, so I now also have an Xbox 360 and have a couple of questions.

Alan Wake, is this any good? I've read mixed reviews, but I quite fancy it.

Also, wifey likes games lke Lego Batman/Indiana Jones, etc, what similiar games are there that she might like?

Thanks in advance.

Alan Wake is really good. It's a psychological thriller and you play the story, and it's basically sort of like a movie.

Alan Wake is a really good experience, good narration and the story is involving, and if your a fan of Max Payne Then you will enjoy the references to him sewn throughout the game!

Ill be the first to admit though that i found this game to be insanely creepy, at times it literally made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!

Same. It's actually one of the creepier games I've played. Running through the dark woods, no ammo, no flashlight batteries left and five murderous guys right behind you. It's heart pounding.

Meh, I was obviously missing something whilst playing Alan Wake, as I played it for about an hour and got bored to death of it, with some annoyingly stupid parts also putting me off the game. It could have been alot scarier had they not made it so everytime The Taken popped up, the camera didn't zoom in on them, it took away half of the fear factor IMO. The fact that half of the time you were left with little ammo whilst up against a group of Taken was infuriating at times. The fact that it seems Alan has smoked 100 cigs a day means he can't run for sh*t, and have absolutely no way of outrunning the Taken, and even when you dodge one of them, another ends up attacking you from the other side anyway.

I wanted to continue playing the game as I was enjoying the story, but the gameplay let this game down so much. It could have been such a great game.

Oh yeah, if you like Stephen King then you'll like the game more, since it takes abit of inspiration from King novels/films.

Cheers guys, got Alan Wake today, haven't had a chance to play it yet.

Any suggestions for 2 player style games like Lego Batman, Indiana Jones, etc?

Thanks again smile.gif

Yeah i found Alan Wake to be great, found myself walking at a snails pace through some parts of the game though, just waiting for those Taken to come out of hiding. The serious lack of stamina was a pain in the arse though.

It definitely got better once chapter 3 started though, so if you gave up on it pretty early for one reason or another i suggest giving it another go and getting to act 3. The addition of flares and flash bangs during the act make the game more fun.

@smaisey, not the same genre as the Lego games but Viva Pinata is a good game to play co-op with the other half ph34r.gif.
