I had a new drive fitted last year, so I don't know where I stand on this. Not even sure if mine's the same one I bought in 07, because it's been back to microsoft twice since and I don't know whether they've replaced just parts or the whole thing.

 

Here's hoping the new drive (which was fitted privately) is covered incase anything goes wrong tomorrow.

I've got an '06 20GB that I barely use, if it wasn't for LA Noire I would be pretty damn happy if it ended up falling victim to the new update.

Clearing up some confusion

Clarification time! The console replacement plan that is the subject of some of today’s headlines is related to a previous update, NOT the system update that has been in public beta and will be deployed shortly. 

 

The new disc format that is part of the beta has been rigorously tested across all Xbox 360 models and there are no known compatibility issues.

 

Hope that clears a few things up.

I just bought Dead Space 2 for Xbox 360, and with it came a redeem code for a Isaac Clarke inspired Dragon Age 2 armor. And since I don't have DA2 and don't have interest in it, I'm giving the code away. So if you're interested, PM me and the first one will get the code. Only works for Xbox 360.

You got to remember that the forums are still a WIP, and will be changing alot over the next few days/weeks, apparently. Seems like they got all the important help topics and kept them, but just all merged into each other.

Xbox Live technical support will be extra busy over the course of this week and the next as a new software update rolls out, bringing sweeping bans to those with modified consoles. But one fresh account banning from this week is more educational than the rest.

 

An Xbox Live member with the gamertag "pound her stank" found himself permanently suspended from the service after what he argued was three years of good standing membership. His plea:

my xbox account was permanently suspended due to my gamertag. shouldn't this be temporarly suspended? i've been a member for 3 years and a lot of downloads and xbox live points attached to this account. i dont want to start all over again. is there a way to request lesser suspension? my account gamertag was "pound her stank". i would change my gamertag to get my account back.

 

Seems like a reasonable request. What say you, Xbox Live Policy and Enforcement Team?

While we apologize for the inconvenience, we made the decision to permanently suspend the account due to the excessive number of forced name changes due to Code of Conduct violations that have occurred over the life of the account. We felt that giving you 34 chances to create a gamertag that did not violate the aforementioned document should have been more than enough of an opportunity to turn a new leaf.

 

That's right. After an impressive 34 gamertag changes, none of which appear to abide Xbox Live's Code of Conduct, you can be banned. Now you know!

Yeah i think i have one modder on my friends list but meh... i got my modded guns and shield for borderlands while i could. And dont worry i dont use them very often...

This is also included JTagged Xbox's? Am not up to date with modding consoles, so not sure how many different console mods are out there or if there is only one way to mod it.

Guess I missed the news about this update. Although my 360 works fine. It's the second one I've bought, newer 250 GB MW2 version since I had to pawn off my first elite a few years back. So anyway, modded/jtagged 360 accounts are being banned from this? Glad I've never done anything like that, but I do know one old friend who does. If that's the case, I'm sure he's pissed.

 

Going to buy a Kinect tonight or tomorrow or the next day with some fitness games like Ultimate Workout. I'm getting in better shape lately and on top of hundreds of dollars in home workout equipment I'm getting on top of hundreds I already have, this will be a nice little addition to gaming and fitness for me.

Its a good choice... i got a kinect and just with the Adventures thing they pack it with i actually lost about 10 pounds... doing that everyday and saying away from pop and other juices help alot.

That little Adventure game it comes with seems okay. I'm not sure I'll play it much, but I'm sure I'll get to watch my fiancee and her best friend battle it out on it. The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout game looks very good. I read about all it had to offer, and watched a video or two. Very promising and looks well worth the money plus the DLC of Pilates and the like. I like the body analyzer feature as well. And the personalized routines, and little game challenges they showed seems kinda cool.

 

I think there's a UFC one coming out too. I saw some personal trainer thing on the E3 list for UFC and figured it's a Kinect game. I'm definitely into the boxing and fighting styles of getting fit, so that would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, they stopped making them a loooong time ago and all the other ones are really expensive.

The choice of wheels on the 360 is awful compared to the PS3 and PC. I spent a whole day online looking for one before S2U came out - I gave up.

 

If it's for a particular game, you're best going to the game's official site and checking compatability before you buy one.

Seriously, who the f*ck wants to play racing games on a imaginary wheel? Isn't the whole point of wheel and pedals to give the authentic feel of driving a car, and by waving your hands around in air like a f*cking idiot is hardly what I want.

MS sold the rights of making the Xbox360 steering wheels to Madcatz, kinda sucks cause those MS steering wheels are f*cking beautiful and the Madcatz versions are hideous. I hope I can find the MS version somewhere

It does the breaking and accelerating for you on kinect, could you imagine trying to control a car while stood up and onlu on one leg?
