Ive heard nothing but good things about red dead, I personally have only played multiplayer so i couldnt comment on singleplayer! Batman is epic game im no huge batman fan (seen all the films though) but that is one game i would give 5 stars to. Fable 3 as far as im aware the co-op was buggy on release but other than that it was fine but i do prefere fable 2 (might be able to pick that up for cheap). The only other advice is that not all reviews are 100percent correct its more of a guide for you but just because a game scored low doesnt mean you wont enjoy it and 9 times out of ten you can judge the quality of the game just by looking at the back. One other thing to do is Xbox live has a serious collection of demos avaliable Try them before you buy if there is a bit of doubt still in your head!

And would you say Batman is for Batman fans purely, or could anyone pick the game up and enjoy it?

If you like VGs, Batman or both, Arkham Asylum is a great game. I'd also recommend Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, it has really satisfying combat, stunningly beautiful, and about as far from realism as it's possible to get.

Playing Dead Space 2 atm. I know as soon as I've finished it I'm starting again with New Game+. I've missed a ton of nodes, which are used to upgrade your sh*t. They're in boxes on the walls, and I only found out in Ch.8. Duh!

Also, Steam might be coming to Xbox:

Microsoft has signed a deal with Jenkins Software, the makers of the RakNet Technology, which is a game network engine offering a secure online gaming infrastructure for integrating social and networking features to games and making them for efficient and reliable.

The deal will allow Microsoft to use RakNet for their online game service, Xbox Live.

Now, if you’re wondering if this is the same tech that Sony bought last year, than yes, you’re correct it’s the same thing.

RakNet’s core features will now be ported to the Xbox 360 aswell in addition to the console’s core proprietary feautre-set. These include UDP with congestion control, object replication, remote procedure calls and real-time SQL-logging.

Kevin Jenkins had this to say regarding the deal:

“We are excited about what we have to offer through the Xbox 360 Tools and Middleware Program”. “Our native integration with Xbox High-level Voice, the Secure Network Library, and Xbox LIVE reduces developer workload, furthering our objective of providing multiplayer on a deadline.”

This has opened a world of possibilities including the implementation of Valve’s Steam features for Microsoft’s Xbox Live online service.

http://www.gamersmint.com/microsoft-signs-...nkins-software/

This  new tech would give gamers access to a world of exciting features, however, the most important and coolest of which will be the ability to get Steam integrations in future releases for the console.  A similar feature was recently added to the PS3 which enabled it to use a few of Steam’s services like cloud storage, cross platform-chat and more.

The primary list of features it adds to the Xbox 360 are as follows:

• Lobby and room matchmaking

• Network address traversal connectivit

• Use of Steam servers for forwarding traffic

This could very well mean that Steam features, similar to those the PS3 is offering with Portal 2 might be making a appearance for the Xbox 360 aswell. Microsoft might even use RakNet’s tech to allow access to mods and other stuff which might be releasing for Valve’s very own Portal 2 and many more titles in the future.

Yeah, I tend to always look at Gamespot and IGN and see what score they gave it, but I don't always rely purely on that score, it just gives me some idea as to how the game is. Trust me, I've seen alot of games get low scores on them sites, but the game has actually turned out to be a gem. And I look at the back of the game box just to get an idea, as they usually put in-game shots on there, but again, this is just to give me an idea as to how the game looks/acts.

I'm going to have to get Fable 2 though, as I actually did enjoy the first game, apart from it being over far too quickly for my liking.

And the problem with me downloading on Live is that I only have a 20gb hard drive, so I always have to think about what to download first. I've got a few demos on there, and I actually like the look of them.

Cheers for the help. smile.gif

Could do with a new game now since MW2 is getting even sh*ttier with the hosts now. Got kicked out 5 times last night in an hour.

[Edit] Just read some reviews for Fable II on Amazon and ALOT of people are saying that it can cause the 360 to crash, and even the save file becomes corrupt?

I was interested in Metro when I saw it in a few gaming magazines, before it got released. It grabbed my attention, but then I guess I just forgot about it somehow. I saw it recently and nearly bought it, but for some reason the graphics turned me away. I don't know if they are that bad in-game, but on the back, that image of the guy in the mask, looked horrible, like some PS2 game....

...I've seen RDR mentioned everywhere on this forum, but wasn't sure if everyone was just going on about it because this is kind of a R* forum, or whether it actually was a good game. And I've not read much about it, but I played the first one, and it didn't really stand out for me, and I shelfed it after like 1 hour and never played it again. Now I see everyone going on about the game, but what exactly makes it such a great game?

...And would you say Batman is for Batman fans purely, or could anyone pick the game up and enjoy it?

Ok, well I'd say go for Batman if you want a sort of imaginative game that's fun and paces along nicely. I'm far from being a Batman fan as such, didn't like The Dark Knight (although after playing this game I want to rewatch it, even though it has nothing to do with the game).

It's not the type of game where I can tell you stuff like - you can do this - you can do that but I'll say it got great reviews. And yes, anyone can pick it up and play. Th story is just you going after the joker and killing his cronies a long the way in this mental asylum.

Metro 2033's credits are all Ukrainian and Russian names, so the voice acting is good (sounding really local not like Niko Bellic) and the feeling of the people is probably realistic. Like Pat said it's not really a long lasting game although it does have 2 endings which I only found out today. Maybe not what you are looking for at the moment but I would say is original as far as other games out there go.

Graphics are good...

Live: £23.99 for a year now plus free two games...if I keep putting it off it's going to be like the time I got a year of Time magazine for £10.  lol.gif

Where can I get this?

It was on the home page when I started up my XBOX. I decided to buy it considering you can't get it cheaper from other suppliers.

Do I really have to f*cking call Microsoft support to turn auto renewal for Live off? And I can't even remove the credit card since it's the only one on my account. Dumb sh*t that is.

I was trying to delete all my credit card details from my Live account but it wouldn't let me. Wtf is this sh*t? I could edit it, or add a new one, but couldn't delete it.

For f*ck sakes Microsoft.

I had a single credit card attached to my account and I was able to delete it today, using the website not the console.

Just thought id share my latest gadget/accessory ive purchased for my xbox inlove.gif

Turtle Beach X11 Earforce Headset!

Was really cautious about getting this as i was always happy with the sound that was emitted threw my TV, but so glad i bought them as they are amazing! Can hear literally everything now, noises i didnt know even existed! I use them for every game i play since ive bought them, having the sounds pumped straight to my ears seems to draw me into the game more!

Thinking of upgrading to the X31's in a few months!

It so improves the experience when you get some decent sound equipment - it's like getting a new console. I got these logitech 5.1's a while back and the difference is astounding.

The sub woofer is way too powerful. I've not had it on sice about 15 mins after I installed them, the neighbour from the flat below was banging like crazy, shouting, "TURN THAT DOWN!!". The other 5 speakers have plenty of bass tho so it's OK.

Apart from the quality, the best thing is you can hear where noises are coming from. I've got two speakers behind me, and three in front. You don't even have to look on the map in MW2 to locate gunfire, if someone's shootin behind you, that's what speakers it comes out of - amazing!

Anyway, I tried downloading demos of games such as Test Drive Unlimited and Forza 3, but they only support PAL-60 (i.e. 60Hz), however I only have PAL-50 equipment available to me.

Does this mean if I buy the full game it will only run at 60Hz, or will it be 50Hz compatible? The only game I have is GTAIV so I wouldn't really know.

I had a really, really sh*t old TV that I'm fairly sure was 50Hz and it ran Forza 2 fine, despite the fact that it said it needed a 60Hz monitor. You should be alright, but I guess if the demo works, the full game should too.

I tried hooking up my PC speakers to my 360/TV, but for some reason all I get is sh*tty sounds coming from the speakers? Is this something to do with the speakers being near a TV, or something else?

My TV routes through my 100+watt amp and then out to a sweet set of Bose.

All of the satellites are pretty much hidden. The sub is about the only piece from the set that you can see. We paid serious attention to placement, so you are totally engulf in the 3D sound.

I don't always turn it on for gaming, but the other night I had them on for some DeadSpace2 action, and it was mind blowing. There was one scene where a steam pipe exhausted and scared the sh*t out me nervous.gif

*it pays to be married to a chick who likes this kind of stuff(she actually bought the speakers and all)*

Edit:

I just felt compelled to relay the fact that we have the white sub because black was out of stock when we got them.

As I said, they are mainly PC Speakers, but am not sure if it was something I was doing or whether it's because they were near a TV. Am I right in saying that some speakers are not to be placed near certain things? It's a good decent Speaker set and I want it hooked up for my 360. confused.gif

Why not try the customer support link, in the link you posted? I've never seen those speakers before, so I wouldn't know. My front three satellites are as close to the TV as possible, one is actually on it with no problems.

What would you suggest as a reader to improve both the Official Xbox Magazine and Xbox World 360. In the video i give some of my suggestions and welcome others to watch it. Its only 3 minutes long and bare in mind i had a cold when i did this video

Stop advertising your sh*t here bud.

Any of you guys ever go through phases where you don't touch your Xbox for ages just because you don't have any ''new'' games to play, or because you just don't have an urge to play as often as you once did? Have to say the last year or so for me I've felt that way. I mean I won't leave my Xbox alone when a new release is out that I'm excited for, but other than that its collecting dust.

I think it may have been something to do with the volume you know. If I'm watching a film on the PC and have the PC volume set to medium, but the speakers quite loud, then it's all distorted. In other words, I think the main source has to be set louder then the speakers.

Would love to hook them up though, might give it a whirl tomorrow when I can be bothered. I always find games sound so much better when hooked to speakers. I used to hook my Xbox up to an old stereo with a subwoofer, and the sound was just perfect, immersing you fully in the game.

@Gareth...I scanned the video due to your rambling, but you brought the point up of a free gift on the magazine? If I'm not wrong, don't they give you a demo disc containing atleast 10 playable games, plus videos and other interactive features? And you mention a section for girl gamers? Why? Yes, there aren't that many about, but since going online, I've seen literally hundreds of lasses playing MW2, and they're God damn good at it too. Girls don't always tend to take every game as serious as us guys, but when they do find a game they like, I find that they tend to really play the f*ck out of the game. If anything, I envy the lasses that I've seen play games, as they don't tend to be playing to be #1 at everything, but tend to play to have fun.

As Rebel said though, it did seem like a cheap plug for your Youtube page. bored.gif

And also, onto the point Rebel made, I'm the same as you. I only seem to play it at night, and that's only to play MW2 online, and apart from that my 360 just sits there gathering dust. None of the games I have are making me want to return to them, and I don't get why as they're brilliant games.

There's also the fact that when they pick up a magazine related to gaming they pick it up primarily because they're a gamer and not because they're a girl. The idea that gaming's a male dominated field is pretty much an artificial divide. There's no reason why males are more likely to play games than females, especially seeing as there are hundreds of games that cater to stereotypical male interests and stereotypical female interests, ignoring the fact that not everyone conforms to gender stereotypes. Although this analogy is a bit out there, it'd be similar to picking up NME and finding a section for "girl's music".

@ Reb, as I've mentioned many times, I can't play on the xbox at all during the week as I'm living at uni.But even when I do go home on some weekends I don't go on the xbox to play games as the primary aim. I'll go on intending to talk to my mates from home in an XBL party, and the gaming's just something to do while I do that. This is pretty much why I only play mindless online shooters now, 'cos they're reasonably entertaining and have a good longevity.

I have to say I agree with you there Rebel, last summer I never touched my 360 for over 1 and a half months nervous.gif it's worst in summer as the sun is out more and it gives me more light to play with my slot cars, which coincidently don't see much action in the winter (summer = slot cars, winter = Xbox) simple really.

I will apologize for posting a video and did not realize this was an absolute no no it was posted in the relevant topic and I don’t see what the problem really was. Nobody was forced to watch the video nor click on it. I do not doubt any ones opinion which I do respect on this website but I cannot be the only single person on that thread who posted an Xbox 360 video so I’m pretty sure a lot of people will cut me some slack on that alone. It was not my intention to get people to watch the video just assumed it was relevant to the topic since this is the Xbox 360 topic. I did not have any intention of causing any inconvenience for people and only posted to the topic.

Fair enough though that’s the last time I post another YouTube video since I have been reminded by Waddy.

The problem with your video is that you made a whopping 2 suggestions in a 3 minute video, and then told everyone to add their comments, which could only have been done by going onto Youtube and commenting on the video page, thus getting your video a little bit of popularity.
