Wait, what is this 'kinetic' thing everybody's talking about?

It's the official brand name for Project Natal. Natal was just the work-in-progress title for the project, most likely a placeholder while the marketing idiots came up with Kinect.

 

It's a stupid name by the way. It's amazing how annoyed I get just from the fact that they use only a single n in the middle. they're blatantly going for a blend of "kinetic" and "connect" and it just looks so wrong without a double n. As it is, it just looks like someone can't spell kinetic. [/language nerd]

What exactly does "initial setup" do? Does it erase everything off my hard drive and memory unit, such as my game saves and gamertag?

I don't think it erarses anything, i think it just goes back to the first menu so you change time zone, country, parental settings and other things like that.

Last time I used it before selling a 360 it just takes you back to the factory settings. So it would be like when you first got the Xbox and when you turn it on you get to pick what country/time/date and stuff. It doesn't erase anything from the HDD.

I only own seven 360 games and I've had my Xbox for about two years. The console doesn't hasn't have a ton of use and am beginning to get bored with it. I pretty much buy one game per year and just play the sh*t out of that game.

 

I've done that with CoD4, GTA IV and Modern Warfare 2. However, recently I've been getting annoyed at the amount of camping, noob tube spamming players on MW2 and haven't played it very much. I put in about seven days worth of online gameplay on CoD4, whereas I've only put in two days of online play on MW2. Gears 3, Fallout: New Vegas and Halo Reach all come out either later this year or next year. I'm looking for a good, pretty recently released game to buy.

 

If you guys can recommend a few to take a look at I'd really appreciate it.

• I have been thinking about getting, or at least trying, Red Dead Redemption. I played Red Dead Revolver a bit and enjoyed that.

   

• The Orange Box. I thought about getting it when it was first released, but I'm not the biggest fan of TF2. I guess it'd still be worth the other games that come with it - Half Life 2 and Portal.
• Forza 2? I own it, it came with my Elite. And, yes, I enjoy Forza 2. It's the game that I have been playing in place of Modern Warfare 2 recently.

   

• Oblivion, I never thought about that game. I'm not a huge fan of RPG's, but, then again, I never gave Oblivion a try. I'll try and get my hands on a copy of that to try it out.

   

• Arkham Asylum definitely looks worth buying. I've never played it, however, I've watched people playing it.

   

• Bioshock is the same as Arkham Asylum. I thought about getting Bioshock 1 earlier this year and then getting Bioshock 2 later on. It's got an interesting story to it and the gameplay looks very good, as well.

On my previous consoles - Xbox, Sega Dreamcast, etc - I would play a lot of sports game. But, I try and stay away from sports games now, because they're just not worth buying. I haven't bought a sports game since Madden 09, and it was only $37. I like to play a lot of shooters, like CoD, Halo, etc. I've been thinking about getting BF: BC2, but I did not like BF:BC1's online gameplay. I guess I was too used to CoD4, though. Any FPS suggestions would be appreciated, too.

 

I'm not speaking strictly exclusives, just any must-buy games available for the 360. Like I said, I've got only seven games - two of which came with the console - so I could use another game or two, exclusive or on both 360 and PS3.

 

I appreciate the suggestions, ozzman1. If you, or anybody else, can think of any other suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

I would definitely get Red Dead if you are into GTA. Just imagine GTA IV in the early 1900's and you have RDR.

 

As for the orange box I think it at least deserves a rent because Half life 2 is a game everyone should play once. If you computer was built within the last 5 years you could probably run it on and get it on that instead.

EDIT: I'm not going to lie I hated dead rising, but the reason for that might be because I did everything to get the ending for the extended mode thing, but didn't get it.

Dead Space is a really good game if you are into horror games.

 

Red Faction Guerrilla had some amazing destruction, but a sh*tty story.

I would definitely get Red Dead if you are into GTA. Just imagine GTA IV in the early 1900's and you have RDR.

 

Nah, RDR is much better than GTA IV. The story is really good and even somewhat accurate in the whole Mexico storyline, and you can kill animals.

 

The next GTA will be great if R* applies the knowledge they acquired with RDR.

I've just ordered a lighted controller kit from llamma.com to start off with, but I'll eventually be moving into some casemods now that the new 360 is out, and if I brick my current Elite I'll just go buy one of the new ones.

If you read the Terms, you would know this. Therefore, don't have such a sh*t poor attitude because you broke the rules and got banned.

Where did I show "a sh*t poor attitude"?I don't care about it really, I can still use my brothers xbox and I know I broke the TOS and all that sh*t but the time at which they did it was so people would go out and buy more xboxes for Christmas.

@gta_player5, i know you said ypou're not into RPG'S but i'd give Mass Effect a chance, MAss Effecr 2 nore so as i think that the second one loses soem it's RPG'ness and just become like Gears of ar where you go from cover to cover shotting, still a qulaity game.

Dont play the multi-player portion of a game or a game that requires constant internet access reguardless of what mode you play.

I just took advantage of the 1 month for £1 my console was offering me, and quickly called M$ to turn autorenew off.

 

If I remove the payment option I used to buy it (i.e. card), will this cancel my subscription or is it irrelevant?

 

Call me paranoid, but I don't like having my credit card details floating around for no reason, especially when M$ are sneaky enough to have all these hidden catches like autorenew.
