Damn, it looks sexy. I hope it's not too expensive since I need a new xbox because mine was banned and I've been using my brothers.

Nah, I like my current XBOX 360, if it dies or something happens to it I might consider getting the new one. However, I hope that Natal (or Kinect, as everyone is saying it's actually called now) works in older models as people in that article are speculating on the possibility that it will only work with the slim version.

I really hope that isn't the design for it. The angles make it look ugly as hell.

Damn, it's ugly as hell! They should just make the original one, but flatter. The built-in Wi-Fi is a good thing though, but did you read it. It says "compatible with Kinect". Does that mean that we can't use Kinect with our normal 360s?

Me too. I was always putting off buying one, because the wireless adapter was so expensive. Now that it has built in WiFi (Finally!) and a 250GB Hard Drive, I might just get it now.

I assume the software/update/firmware needed to use Kinetic will be pre-loaded in the Slim and old 360's will have to download a Title Update near/around Kinetics launch.

When is the lower price hitting stores for the arcade? I've been needing to get a new box for a while now. I still have a working hard drive (20gb) so I was mostly waiting for the price drop.

 

250gb is damned beautiful though...

Well, back in '05 people said the original Xbox 360 looked like an iPod so that's definitely an improvement.

Agreed. That's one of the few reasons I regret getting a 360, the pop-out disc tray. The ones that pull the discs in, like PS3s, are much cooler. Although which one would be more prone to breaking?

 

It's minor, but still.

 

@PresidentKiller I don't know why, it's just the way the sides slant inward and its shiny appearance. Makes it look spacey.

 

Interesting. PS3 goes smooth, Xbox goes shiny.

It's not, it's the exact same width. Only a few inches shorter in height though. You'd probably be better off just buying a new HDD, especially if you already own the console.

I actually like the disc tray, I have several 8 cm (3 inch) CD's and DVD's that won't work without it.

I think they should also make it come in a white color. I think the Xbox 360 looks better in white than in black. Also it makes it different than the PS3.

i'd rather would've liked Micro to announce that they were using better internal components.

Perhaps better heatsink, fans, thermal paste, soldering could do the trick.

Well they don't mention it in detail but it has been said the new 360 has better fans as well as the newer 45nm process for the GPU and CPU so surely they have improved the internals as to not repeat the rrod fiasco.

I'm not too keen on the appearance of the Slim so far. Then again, I hated the way the PS3 slim looked when it was first annonced, but when I saw it in person it looked excellent. Perhaps it'll be the same with the new Xbox.

I'm trying to decide here, do I get my 360 repaired or buy a Slim?

 

Bit more info, mine got the E74 and is still under warranty, but it's an '06 model and the DVD drive is failing (I don't know that for a fact, but when it was working it got stuck all the damn time and f*cked my CoD4 and GTA IV discs), plus it's got a 20GB HDD, which really is not enough space for me. I'm working at Bridgestone for five days on the last week of this month, and I'll make ~$1000 with pretty much nothing else to spend it on, but I had planned on saving it for just-in case money for when I move out and have, you know, actual problems to deal with.

 

I know some of you just bought a new one when yours failed, so, opinions on this?

The 'Slim' 360 will have a port built in which will allow it to recived information and power it, whilst owners of older 360's need an extra power point.
