Haha like what games?

It's mostly the news ones but a couple of old ones have done it.

 

Shadow Complex, Trials HD, The one where you collect jigsaw peices (the name escapes me).

Ugh, so you have to pay over £8 for the game, then more money for further clothing? Never been a fan of the Avatar Marketplace ever since it came out.

It's obviously just another way for Microsoft to separate you from your money. I'm thinking they'll set it up similar to 'Splosion Man. There will be one award that's piss easy to get and another that takes some time with the game. The easy one becomes yet another incentive to purchase or rent the title. They know there are sad individuals out there that crave those rewards badly enough for it to sway their purchasing decision. They're banking on it.

I gotta admit to a buzz when I got some of the hard ones, like join the midnight club and wanted on IV

 

While they`ve never been a selling point for me, chievos do add to games

The Batman: Arkham Aslyum achievements are a buzz to get, especially on Hard Mode as it feels like a real accomplishment. Also Veteran achievements on CoD: 4 were a bitch to do, but worth the bragging rights. Oh, and Mile High Club.

Never give up! You need to practice, practice and practice 'til you a well oiled MACHINE and you do everything by muscle memory. I'm sh*te at CoD4 online and still aint got 1000 on singleplayer but damnit I'm proud of my mile high achievement

That last corridor just got me too many times. Then it would take several more tries to get up to there, just to fail it again.

I'm still stuck on the 30 Intel items for CoD4. I activated the cheat that turns enemies into tyres when you kill them, and now I can't get the final achievement that I need for 1000/1000, which is damn annoying.

 

I'm also close to 1000 for WaW, I was able to complete the entire campaign on Veteran without much of a problem, but I was just never able to down 50 Black Cats for some reason.

Damn, that sucks. Where'd you buy it from? I'm not sure if it's different elsewhere, but for some places in the UK you can take it in and they give you a new console over the counter if it's still in warranty.

I've had the console since late 2006, it's long out of warranty but the repair is free so 5-6 weeks without an Xbox isn't horrible, I suppose.

(for All Ghillied Up, there's one at the top of the church tower. For One Shot, One Kill, there's one on top of a fire escape you'll come across after picking up McMillan, and there's another in an apartment to the left of the carnival when at the pool. The doors only open some of the time, though.)

Nah, it's not that I can't find them. It's that I had a cheat activated (the one that turns enemies into tyres when killed) while I collected the final Intel, which means that I didn't get the achievement, but I can't have another chance at it either.

I think if you delete all your CoD4 savedata and start a new game, you can get all the intel again.

Just started playing Blacksite for the 360, and although I think it's an excellent game, it's got sooooo many bugs in it. I've only played the 360 a couple of times now (first game I played was Army Of Two and I thought that was a great game) and now am currently playing Blacksite, and am up to like the 3rd level. Anyone else played this game, and if so, what are your views on it?

The 23.7% failure rate within two years of ownership figure is all the more terrifying when you learn that this doesn't include damage caused by the user. To be fair, the PS3 isn't too reliable either with 10% of them eventually refusing to work.

 

Shall I take the risk of buying used? Will Microsoft cover me if I'm not the first owner, or are they very quick to ignore people?

Those link are broken, but I get what you're saying. I bought a used console about 2 years ago from Gamestation. I got the E74 error, took it into the store and they just gave me a new one over the counter. If you're going for pre-owned, I would definitely recommend Gamestation.

 

As for support from Microsoft, you should be fine for support, they extended the warranty recently to three years from purchase.

It happened to me on the 19th of August and i got it back 3rd of September so it doesn't take that long. Still a pain in the ass though.

To be honest, I was planning on buy an XBOX, play the latest episodes, and reselling it for a minimal loss...so the fact buying privately is so risky really upset me.

Woot, just won two 360 games on eBay, Forza 2 and Viva Pinata (Figured why the hell not, it was a package) cost was AU$20.45, when Forza 2 alone is about $40 iirc.

Depends if you still have warranty left. They'll either repair it or send you a new model to replace your existing one. And they'll only replace Elite with Elite, so if you have the Pro or Arcade model, then you won't be getting a Elite .

When I went through my third Xbox my cousin told me that they would send an Elite if still in warranty. This, of course, wasn't true. Sadly.

You could look at GAME as well I got mine second hand from there and it lasted me a good couple years until it got RROD and since I took no warranty out because the ID number on the console was still valid then I was still able to send it off to MS and get it repaired.

It was all done online. All you really had to do was put in serial number and when you bought it etc. Then they just send UPS to take it.
