I did the same. I put a switch in that room for the 360 and PC and connected it to my router via cable. With hardwire, you know what you're getting.

Well you can do it in a number of ways. You can buy pre paid Live cards (which are gold) and all you have to do is input the code on the xbox and you'll have a Live account. You can get these cards from any game store or online. You can go to the Xbox.com website and log into you're account and pay for a Live code through there, although you have to have a credit card to do that. That's basically how you get a gold account so you can play online with people.

Just to be sure, do you have a credit card? If you don't you'll have to buy a prepaid card from a shop.

On your xbox dashboard, press the Xbox button and go to account management, then put in your cc details.

You can trick your mom into buying you a yearly subscription by credit card, which will renew forever until you call Xbox Live support.

If you don't want to have your membership renewed, you can also buy a 3 or 12 month prepaid code at any game store.

I personally prefer the latter because I don't like my debit card being charged without my explicit permission (Live never mentioned that it would RENEW my subscription every time if I pay by card).

You can cancel your credit card off the system. I had to do it when my cc expired and I got a different one.

Sup guys.

I got a 360 today, and When I plug the ethernet cable to my Laptop which is connected to wireless internet, it doesn't work on the 360.

So I was wandering how to make it work, when it's connected to the laptop

You need an ethernet "patch" cable in order for that to work. Can't just use any old ethernet cable.

Also need to set up Windows Internet Connection Sharing on the laptop.

I remember my mum had to ring up MS to say the card date had expired so stop trying to renew my Live. Have to say I really hated the fact that they automatically updated the subscription from the card without even letting you know if you wanted to or not. That's why I buy nothing but pre paid cards now.

Good you can nowadays deactivate the automatic Live Gold renew without calling MS support. I've gotta say that it was a bitch :|

Whats the best way to clean a disc? Do I have to take it to a shop or is there a way to do it at home?

You can buy kits at home, which consist of spray and a disc cleaner + buffer cloth.

Or you could take it a shop, like blockbuster (I think).

You could google it as well, I hear toothpaste works although not always. The shop Game cleans them I think. Although I took my IV disc in because it got a huge scratch in and stopped working and they buffed it up for 3 quid and its worked since.

Your talking about as Cross-Over. However you don't need one. Every 360 should come with an Ethernet cable which I'm sure is not a cross over.

Anyway, you need to turn on ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) and fiddle with manual 360 IP settings so it connects. Maybe it'll work for you, but letting my router assign IP settings to the 360 never worked for me.

I'm hating my 360 the more I use it. It's scratched five discs so far; I'm just going get a 120 GB HDD and download the games online. It's scratched two Fallout discs, Oblivion, COD4 and Mass Effect.

I don't know how so many people end up with scratched discs. I'm on my fourth 360 and haven't ever had one scratch up a disc. Are you guys moving the console around when the disc is spinning or kicking it or something?

I've had my 2nd 360 for like 15 months and it's scratched my Top Spin 2 disc and FIFA 07 disc within the first few months, not had no problems since though, so i don't know what causes it.

I never moved my 360 ever when the console had a disc in it.

I moved the 360 once while playing COD4, that's what scratched that one. The other four happened all on their own.

I only play from the hard drive now, even if I`m just borrowing a disk. If it`s one of my games I don`t play often I`ll delete it after, it just cuts out all the "WTF was that noise?" and other angst ridden moments.

Games I`ve got permanently on are Fallout 3, GTA IV and MCLA, it`s a case of slipping the disk in when I want to play them, the less moving parts the better imo.

every time i try connecting to Xbox Live a message comes that says:

"Can't connect to Xbox LIVE. Select Test Connection to troubleshoot, or try recovering your profile.

For more info, go to www.xbox.com/support."

I have tried those things, i have tried taking the internet stick in and out many many times, and it still want work?

It is wierd, because just yesterday it worked.

I normaly have to take the internet stick in and out 2-3 times before it works, but today, nothing works. Please help me if you know whats wrong monocle.gif

You'll have to define "internet stick", first.

no no , its a wire (:

Well, if you're talking about having to unplug and re-plug your ethernet cable to get a connection it's probably a bad cable or you've got a loose connection in the port on the back of your 360. Try a different cable. If it's not those two things, make sure your router's DHCP is configured correctly.

Unless of course, you mean something else by "wire".
