Seriously none of them are RRoD proof because the internal design of the system is flawed. Only thing that changes things a little is the newer ones use a smaller die process which makes the heat cycles not quite as stressful due to lower operating temps, but there's still a great chance of RRoD in any Xbox 360.

who else really enjoyed the first episode of 1 vs 100 last night in the UK? we had over 70,000 people playing along with us, allthough we couldnt hear those people me and 5 friends all played along in private chat. I have to say it was an excellent gaming experience, some players who played the ONE were walking away with 5000Ms points, allthough you did get the few witch actually shared the winnings with the MOB distrubuting Ms points between the remaining people who have not answered a question incorrectly, also There are arcade games given away for free as well as Ms points.

 

Its a great idea and i hope to see more like it, Im still holding out for a deal or no deal game. Exspecially going by what this one is like its awesome.

When i clicked on the tab from the dashboard to start the new session of 1 v 100 live and i just got chucked in a room with a few other people like it was an extended play game. No person was 'the one' and there was no live host.

 

There's some smart people though (unless they were good at guessing) some of the questios were solid i thought, but that was probably becuase i was on the hard quiz .

I had a bash of the 1v100 beta last night too, was a great laugh with two of my mates. Especially as I won both games we played . Managed to get a high score of 137k i think. It's a pretty good idea and I'm definetly going to try and play a proper live edition of it (a game with a One and a Mob rather than just one big crowd). A lot of the questions were quite hard as well, I only knew about 2/3s of my correct answers for sure and the rest were just informed guesses or lucky guesses. I think it was called "pan Europe" for the category of questions though I couldnt really see any category myself and some were definetly out of europe.

 

TL;DR 1v100= good laugh, reasonable difficulty level, hope to catch a live show at least once in the beta.

 

EDIT: Duh, i think Pan Europe might just mean everyone who's included in the quiz, and the subject is general knowledge.

There are well over a thousand people in the game at once. 100 of those people are in the mob and 1 person is the one.

Well, even with another setback delaying my Xbox repairs, I got two more emails from MS, one of the last, I clarified for input on their warranty Expired repair and my situation of a 'tampered' Xbox not known to be opened prior to current ownership, in my particular case. I was not aware it had been opened, but I had intended to work on it myself. Should be the definitive answer on the question, but they keep changing personal of course, at least they get back to you...EACH TIME! That's something! haha

 

I will report all progress on my two RRoDs.

I do have to confirm a report from my friend. I bought an official Xb360 headset at the Goodwill, for $5. I am told, however, ONLY works online with the Gold membership. DRAT, if so.

Can't these be tested just from the system firmware? Like PS3?

I've not seen one RRoD in the stores, They do have improved fans as well. The ones I showed are identical except one was using screws that are bevelled, with washers (one on each screw post (8)), the other , direct snap on X-clamps. They both generate the same amount of heat, and without the plastic shroud, you can feel the sinks themselves become TOO HOT to the touch, but slip on the shroud (ports air to the fan system ( like a BOSE audio acoustic chamber or Pentium 2 plastic cover), and you'll see there is an almost dramatic difference! I stated all my findings prior. In a hot room, I had some time where it worked very nicely. However, it did wind up back at square one.

 

Since I was using all the paste I had, it ran out and I think that was part of the problem, the prior paste I bought or obtained was far too generic. The soldering MS did in house is known to be cheap and poor, and it gets worse with the other problems ...compounding things. I hope to have mine dealt with and that means the board is mounted on a stand and each chip is aligned with the device to readdress the soldered areas, all surface mounted so doing that by hand is not gonna cut it.

Yes and the capabilities to dowload certain videos and DLC. Although my age it set for 94 and I have no restrictions. xD

Did anybody downlaod the The Secret of Monkey Island special edition? it was only 800 points and i thought that was a bargain. I never played the original game before but it was awesome, the updated HD graphics are amazing.

There's no use to having a headset unless you have a Gold XBL account. There's no application for the headset outside of communicating with friends via XBL chat. Which you need a Gold account to do.

 

Bottom line, unless you're getting a Gold account, don't worry about your sh*tty $20 headset.

Mine are getting repaired, he showed that pressing the buttons out front, you could get a lighted code for the specific cause and they appear non-serious, so a re-solder will be done to BOTH boards I own. Luckily I have local access for this, but he'd accept mailed RRoD units as well. I'll let you know what transpires.

Don't allow them to over-heat! That as a way to trigger a restart is just playing with fire. Too much heat can cause unrepairable status.

I don't wanna brag but,A guy who use to work for microsoft has his own little game store and sells 360 cheap.You can buy an arcade for $150 bucks and he can extend the system warrantly to last for a long time. My friend so far has his since the launch date.You should come to miami and check him out.

Well, I bought a parts unit to fix one that came complete, without AC adapter and controller, down the street is a $150 Xbox as well, with the HDMI output. Very tempting but I need to get these two working then upgrade to an HDMI xb360
