I am seriously hoping to hear about WHAT games I should get first, now I got my Xbox assembly up and running, I have GTA4 and HAD Saint's Row, I believe was stolen out of my car, it's gone missing for some time. I am thinking Gears of War next, what say you???

Blackadder.

Crackdown, definately. I loved that game since the day I heard about it.

Do you think that many used copies mean it's not so hot? I see a lot of Crackdown used. At the pawn shop, they have a used game for Gears of War2 but not GoW 1, however, at another location they had two I believe.

The reason that one is at the top is because people have compared it favorably with Uncharted on PS3, and I do love that game

Not really.

People sell games all the time, they may have just gotten bored with it after awhile.

Some people beat a game and then sell it right afterwards, I never did that.

Blackadder.

It's probably got so any used copies in stores cause a bunch of Halo 3 fanboys bought it for the Halo 3 beta, and when the beta expired they discarded it.

It really is a gem.

There are twice as many Halo3 games out there then probably anything else. I was just wondering if people draw any conclusions based on that. There ARE a number of reasons people would be selling a game however.

I think you should just stop asking yourself why people would sell their games on, because I'm sure there are about 100 different reasons. You should just worry yourself over what game you want to play & buy. And if you really want to play a game but aren't sure if its worth the money, go rent it out for a couple of days. It depends what kind of games you like at the end of the day because they are going to appeal to you. I'd say the games I really enjoyed playing and some of them I still play are:

Dead Rising - Great hours of fun on how you can kill zombies, shame about how annoying Ottis is with that damn mic though.

Assassins Creed ( its a shame it was so repetitive on the missions ) but other than that a fantastic game for free roaming and basically being spiderman.

COD4 - Great single player story. Loved playing through it and then coming back all over again to see if I could beat them on harder levels. Great online gameplay kept me busy for days on end when it came out.

The reason there are so many used copies of Halo 3 out there is because they've sold a sh*tload of that title since its launch. Same goes for other popular games like GoW and CoD 4. It doesn't really have anything to do with the quality of the games. Those are all great.

If you get on Xbox Live Slammy, I want a friend request.

Ah yeah. The way they tried to deal with lag wasn't so great. But it was still fun nonetheless. Curse my Australian internet. sad.gif

What I didn't like however was after the final patch accidentally ruined the Agency Truck, they just completely ditched the game.

Hey Luke, remember when we used to play Crackdown all the time last summer? We found that glitch with the supercar and spawning the ramp truck and flying all across the map. Then I'd always f*ck it up and send us flying under the map, yet we'd always find ways out.

We need to play more often when I get my xbox today or on Tuesday.

I signed up at MS because I used their online service from the PC angle, but since I was not dealing with online gameplay, the user ID I created for the memory card is probably not related. I'm going with BillBo by the way, a Lord of the Rings reference. I think that's used on XBL already! hahaha

How about a list of 10 best 360 games so far??

I mentioned I did, I setup a gamer tag but I forgot to write it down I guess, MS will have to remind me what I signed on with. I would buy one of those monthly service cards for Xbox Live, they are easy to find locally... However, I don't have any broadband service in my apartment, as some know, I was using Wifi Hotspots exclusively, whereever I could find them. I used to have a Wifi signal right in my apartment, that was about a year ago though. I had been on my PSP when I noticed I was online, it wasn't actually planned! hahaha

Obviously, your tastes may vary but I'll give you a list of the ten games I've had the most fun with or gotten the most entertainment value out of.

In no particular order:

Fallout 3

Oblivion

Halo 3

GTA IV

Saints Row/SR2

Gears 1/Gears 2

CoD2/CoD4

Mass Effect

Bioshock

Dead Space

Also, get some broadband ya deadbeat.

HALO-3 Well, all the Halo games appear to be the Xbox's KILLER APP, the WARE everyone is expected to own, but I am not really keen on it at all.

I do like some of the game ideas I've heard in terms of how much breadth and scale in adventure games recently.

I wanted to fix a comment said earlier about the heatsinks in the early Xbox360. The one I have up and running with newly added heat paste, it's actually cool to the touch, which indicates to me, there is a key factor in the sinks working properly here. I'm not sure what I am doing WRONG, with these two mobo 360s I've been working with, but there was very excessive heat if the power remained on and the unit didn't shut down. That's not the case with the operating unit I have, which surprises me. I can touch the drive and heatsink and not burn my hand. The drive itself is hot, and I am not sure if that's constant laser diode reading, spinning, or chips (ICs) on the top PCB firmware board.

If you are tackling RRoD as I did here, make sure you get a cooler operating heatsink before you assemble the case. If it's too hot to touch, it will likely shut off and be giving you some red lights!

Noticed my original project-360 is still heating up pretty hot, compared to the working unit, so even with clean heatsinks and paste, I've got a terminal issue. The screen was revived though... Now I actually have one red light, lower right hand corner (??) and video screen System Error E74. If I had a receipt from the guy who sold me it, I could send it back, but he bought it as a temp for his brothers system so I don't think he even had one. Despite the lack of repair parts sold online, I can still use the cabinet cover and On/off panel. So, one working unit when all is said and done.

If you tackle one, obviously spend as little as you can, get the logic board off the DVD ROM to match the motherboard and clean EVERYTHING! I used SOS pads on the heatsinks and even the mobo processors. They are steel wool and work pretty good. Thing is, it's messy as hell!!

I just shifted the sinks by hand, from the top, I get three rings again and no video if they are "off" by a slight bit...shows the precarious placement for cooling is a huge factor. I am now back to E74 again, and one light. While that was happening I left the unit on for about 5 minutes roughly, and I notice the heatsinks were running cooler then before, and video is still E74

Think its time to give MS a call about my Xbox sad.gif.

It just doesn't seem to want to read discs on some games, and when it does, and while the game is playing, its making a weird rattling sort of noise.

Also when I press the guide button, and the dash sorta thing pops up, it usually takes forever to load, or freezes in the middle of it.

Has anyone else had these problems?

Aside from Halo 3 and GTA IV what games you guys think i should get for my new XBOX 360

Also they make CoD games way fast World at War felt like it was rushed

so i hope Modern Warfare 2 either way im probably gonna still like Halo more anyway

And i have seen a whole shelf front and back of used GTA IVs at Gamestop before i wanted to get one then i decided against it because none of the used ones had the manual and other stuff and i actually like reading the manual

So I got my 360 back. Sent it off on monday, and got it today. Pretty happy with that.

My only gripe is that they sent me a "Certified Microsoft Replacement Xbox360 Console" that's missing the back left footpad when it's horizontal.

The tray's not very good for putting it verticle, With the threat of scratching, I wouldn't attempt it! PS2 had a safe design tray for that.

I equated the analog control as stiff in my review, and it is, but the more adept you get in relation to the "feel" controlling onscreen movement, the PS3 and Xbox360 analogs start to feel more alike. The round buttons are still too small over all.

I reassembled my casing while neglecting the white plastic snap on for the power button, it has the diffusers for the LEDs, so now I get a less defined green showing thru the front panel, but once that case was snapped back on, I felt it just was NOT worth the effort, and it was not coming apart for me! Love it! hahaha

@Stink-Fist, I haven't had THOSE problems, but if worse comes to worse and you have to do it yourself (DIY), then keep the top PCB( printed Circuit Board) off the DVD ROM drive, it comes off very easy, with 4 flex cables.

That will allow the firmware to match your mother board, and the hardware drive can be replaced. If it's related all to the drive, that would take care of it!

I would let M$oft do it. Because it you do something wrong you've lost your warranty for the now rare RROD

Link to comment

Now rare? Who says that? You go to XBOX.COM, the whole main page is error messages and warranty info! Obviously, MS is aware and trying to handle it, whereas some other company would try and paint a happy face on the subject. I heard Sony had problems admitting the PS2 disc read errors, but it's hard to deny when there were a number of serial units allocated to the failures!

Anywho, since I had the one Xbox I can't get up and running, and I forgot what GamerTag I had set up, I dropped MS an Email request with those two subjects, to see what support one can get if they tried to fix a used RRoD system, one that's not assembled. I'll report what they tell me. I'll insist on not throwing it out, if they are hesitent

I'll save you the trouble. If the case has been opened, they won't even touch it. You're on your own.

That may well be UP TO THEM, I will still ship it to them I figure, rather then throw it out, and I will submit a letter as well.

I did get the email back, it was loaded with most ot the website procedure, and very formal, but it opens a case they can track anyway. I did reply already to say I am a secondhand owner without the original receipt. Even if I get a repair fee listed, I'll post it. I don't know, quite frankly. Never assume they won't touch it without trying to see, which is my intent.... as said, I reduced the error to video with the E74 screen, it wasn't even booting that far before! Could be with the right heatsink mounts, like a match to the one I did get working, it would power up effectively.

Here's word on the firmware situation, retreiving the DVD drive key, offered service on eBay.

If anyone know eBay sellers using money orders, let me know, this whole PayPal crap is ruining it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Xbox-360-DVD-Drive-Key...%3A1%7C294%3A25

Sent him an email as well to get more lowdown.
